I researched many schools, private and public, before deciding on Oasis and I have not been disappointed. One of my children attended 7-8 and was in accelerated math and reading and I believe her success in HS and now college is due to her love of school inspired at Oasis by the teachers, staff and community as well as quality education. My youngest has been at Oasis K-5 so far and struggles with academics but has received tutoring and patience from the teachers while being encouraging. She scores well on tests despite her unenthusiastic lack of desire to learn, which proves to me the teachers know what they are doing. I've seen the principal at every after school function-he is very involved in the students. A mom at Sun Valley told me their school went down hill after he moved to Oasis; a testamant to his ability lead.
We only lived in AZ one year, while my husband was attending Grad school, but my girls LOVED Oasis. I had a kindergartener and a second grader. It really was a great school. I loved both of their teachers and I had fun getting involved in classroom activities and helping the teachers. They don't seem to stress parent involvement like some of the other schools my kids have attended, but they did make it clear that you were always welcome in the classroom. My girls made great friends and we loved the area. They both cried when they found out we were moving, and they wouldn't be able to go to Oasis this year.
Oasis is the best school I have ever seen. From the teachers to the principal, they all work as a team. The principal even serves lunch and seems to know all the kids names. The teachers are so caring. Last week I recieved a call from the principal to thank me for sending "such a fine student". I've heard he makes such calls every Friday. What a great way to start the weekend. We have a third grader and a seventh grader and both love going to school everyday. I believe it is because of the teachers care so much. The place is safe and clean. I was surprised to learn the building is 20 years old. It looks so new. I am glad we moved here.
I'm sorry to hear that the last parent didn't like Oasis. I've been here for 5 years now and have only found caring teachers and staff members. They have supported my children and myself if I have had concerns about anything. I got involved right away in the PTSO because I wanted to make a difference. We changed our meetings again this year to 6pm but haven't seen a big change in parent attendance. Each year we struggle to fill the positions on the board and we have to talk our friends into joining the PTSO. We would love for our parents to apply for positions so we could actually have a ballot with voting but it hasn't happened since we've been here. I have been thrilled with the education my children have been receiving.
My daughter is starting her 4th year at Oasis and I have been very disappointed. I don't see the level of 'teamwork' I read in the other reviews. I am a working parent and have felt totally excluded by the PTSA specifically, and the school generally. Every year we hear, There is no parent participation. But there is no attempt to include parents outside of a select few. I have to say that Mrs. Leifer the Assnt Principal is awsome and if not for her I would've started looking for another option by now. Tried to express my concerns and don't even get a call in return. Oasis PTSA is not set up to include working parents with a meeting time of 3:15 on a weekday. They have only been interested in my clean up skills at a fundraiser.
Oasis Elementary is outstanding school. All the staff and parents work well together. I have put through two children of my own and many other students that I have taught in my preschool.
Considering the fact that I have driven 38 miles a day for the past 3 years to allow my son to continue at Oasis (we left the district), I give this school a rating of 10!
I think this is an EXCELLENT SCHOOL with GREAT TEACHERS!
Oasis is a great school. It is the perfect place for kids. It has outstanding programs for all of the grade levels. The principal is everywhere. Every student seems to know him. My son comes home every day with something positive to say about his teacher or his principal. I give Oasis my highest rating.
High quality teachers who really care about the students and are very involved in assuring their success.
