At first I loved this school, that did change fast and really if my schedule would allow I would put them is a neighboring school. You have to make your own log of school work or just throw away at the end of the year teachers always say they never got it. Bulling issues are never addressed, the teachers are the worse at this so watch it! Had to fight for my child to go to next grade due to lazy teachers. I always asked about the grades and what we could do never anything back. 2 months before school is over got a noticed of child failing and no time to fix it. I showed the principal all my emails, I was sided with in the end. Food is gross, they always come home hungry. Stay on your and teachers toes at all times. And don't be afraid to go down in person. They know me by name!
My kids currently attend this school and honestly, I can't wait till I can move! My first grader was seriously being bullied by her teacher on a daily basis. The teacher would make horrible remarks to her, things a first grader would NEVER make up. My daughter was doing really bad in class and having trouble reading and staying "focused". I requested a meeting with both the teacher and principle and during that meeting I asked that my daughter be removed from the class. The principle would not comply Nd basically said my daughter needs to learn to deal. After months of hearing horrible remarks there was one final one that pushed me over the edge and I told the principle he changes her teacher or I will take it up with the school board did he agree to my request. She passed with flying colors And didn't have anymore issues with reading or behavioral. Since I've moved to this school it has been one issue after the other though. I've also had the police called on me for child abuse because my 6year old had bruises on her knees! Really?!?! What 6year old doesn't?!
I am relocating from NY in June 2013. I am considering this school for my 5th grade son. I am trying to decide whether or not to register him here, or try to get him into Park Ridge. Any thoughts?
Hello, My husband and I are buying a house within walkin distance from this school. My son is currently in Deervalley School District right now and is doing very well. He is quick leaner and is in an excellarating 6th grade level in reading, math and vocabulary. He is in the 5th grade getting ready to move on to 6th grade? Is their a program for kids that need that to be more challenged?
Send your student someplace else, get a variance, do whatever you can, my child had a learning disability, it was not caught, no intervention from staff, and was simply passed on". Overall I do not recommend this school to any parent which cares about their child s education. Watch your child s AIMS scores and what tests they were given! They will thank you later!
The staff and teachers care about the students and show respect to them and parents.
The teachers and the staff have the success of each student as their main priority. The students leave Peoria with character and pride as well as the tools needed to move on to the next steps in thier lives.
These teachers work so hard to make sure the students learn. There's no better place to be a student.
It celebrates diversity, teachers and staff are all nice, helpful and seem to care about students.
We transferred out 2 children 6th & 7th grade from a local parochial school they attended since kindergarten with fear they would not adjust. I could kick myself for all the money wasted. This school is incredible the staff is top notch they strive to educate our children and make them feel welcomed. From the moment you walk into the office the office staff is smiling and friendly. Mr. Stanfield the principal greets the children every morning and Mrs Stevenson VP is always there with a watchful eye over the school. My children love this school and always share their day and what they have learned. The faculty is excellent in reaching these children teaching them to succeed by learning. The sport coaches are an incredible inspiration and support all their athletes. We have watched our children thrive at this school and it is truly a blessing. G Torres
My Grandson has been going to Peoria Elementary since pre kindergarden and has strived in both education and social skills. My hat goes off to this school they not only love and respect there kids but strive to make sure there education is top notch. Thankyou to all staff keep up the excellent work.....
I moved from California (Los Angeles Unified School District) 10/06, just after the school year got started. I was a bit concerned about the kids going to a new school. I have 2 children currently (6th graders) that attend Peoria Elementary. The school received them with open arms-very welcomed. I've been very happy with the education my children have received at this school. The principal Mr. Stanfield is outstanding. I drop off and pick up my children daily. He is out every morning greeting the children, talking to parents and just over seeing his school. The teachers and staff are excellent-always going that extra mile. The school sincerely strives to provide quality education and atmosphere for learning.
We love Peoria Elementary especially after going through 5 schools in the avondale district because of growth. My children are gifted and very active in school programs and Peoria offers them more than any school in the past and they are blossoming more than ever now. Great Job Peoria!
I think Peoria Elementary is known for its caring and devoted staff. The people on that campus have done everything to make my son feel welcome and successful this past school year.
I was so disappointed with this school! I would not recommend Peoria elementary to any one I feel for the student that are there now
I wouldn't recommend, school is old and teachers are too social with kids.
I have truly enjoyed Peoria Elementary! My daughter has come such a long way since starting there last school year. Their Title 1 reading program is wonderful! She is reading a grade level ahead from the rest of her class. Her Terra Nova test scores were very impressive. I believe a great deal of that is due to the wonderful teachers and faculty they have there.
This district is a whole lot of talk and not enough quality action . They boast and brag but do they provide our children with the knowledge they need or provide our children with supportive hands on special programs the state demands, NO! The experience my family has had is beyond rediculous. STAY AWAY FROM THIS DISTRICT!!
Peoria Elementary is an excellent school. I love the respect that the teachers have for their students. Both the principle and assistant principle are excellent. I recommend this school and find their teachers valuable and reliable.
