My children both attended this school for several years. In the beginning it was great. I loved the Idea of the ungraded system and there Kindergarten teacher was Awsome. But in 2006-2007 school year the Director and several teachers left the school. When my children returned to school it was a complete mess! The children were being moved around and were so confused they couldnt even begin to learn! I agree with a previous post about the Children and there self esteem as well as the lack of control at this school. Once I moved my children out of this school it became very apparent that they were behind and I had to put them in special programs to get them caught up. It took an entire year to get them there and one of my children still needs a special reading program. Im just happy I got them out

I am very pleased with the curriclam at this school. My daughter is in kindergarten and I love how they have all day kindergarten and how they give individual attention to the children. My daughter loves it and I will be sending her there through 6th grade.

Parents's are involved on a daily basis with lesson plans that lay out the childs work for the day and what still needs to be done. Music, arts and sports are available on a continually changing basis.

I belive that the school lacks in everyway possible they can't control the students they are constently calling parents sending the children home and not trying to show leadership some students are treated like 'the problem child' the teachers talk about the child rudly in front of other children and parents some children have developed a low selfasteam because of the way the teachers have talked to them and about them many parents have pulled their children from this school for their lack of teaching skills and for the way their children have been treated....

My child attended Peoria Horizons Charter School for 2 years. The teachers were always welcoming, helpful, and attentive. My daughter loved it. I did not particularly like the surroundings as they operate at the Peoria Boys & Girls Club. The class sizes were smaller than the public schools which was great. It bothered me that the playground was not attached to the school and there was no hot lunch program and the children ate outside under ramadas in the park. My daughter always complained about the heat during the summer and the cold during the winter, while having to eat her lunch outside. I eventually moved my daughter to the public school by my home because I thought there were too many other children with discipline problems there and it made my daughter uncomfortable. This is an excellent school for your child if they are not a 'traditional learner', need smaller classes, or if your child has trouble focusing on class. The teachers were all wonderful, parent participation and fun extra activities were excellent, and my daughter received lots of individual attention. My daughter learned a lot. They are quite small and need a library and a cafeteria. They have a large gym for P.E. which was nice and after school care by the Boys and Girls Club was offered for those who needed it. The kindergarten classes are an all-day program which is perfect for a parent desiring more time in school for their child. They use an 'ungraded' system where the child is not 'graded' and therefore does not have his confidence knocked down when they did not due well, but then they will help the child to perform at a higher level and learn all the material.
