This school is not that great.. I think that the staff does not watch these kids like they should. They over react to everything! Whenever there is an incident they never have any information and no one ever "saw the whole thing"! I am seriously considering taking my child to another school.
My son started at Terramar as a preschooler and is now going into the first grade. The teachers he's had so far have been teriffic! Very energetic and engaging with the kids. They communicate well with parents and encourage parent involvement. They tailor the curriculum for all learning abilities. The special ed services (speech and OT) are really good. My son has advanced so much with the added help. He's only 6 and already learning the core values of leadership, honesty, community service. Best of all, he loves going to school every day and learning. The before/after school program is also top notch.
Terramar is like a second home for my child. She loves going to school there. The teachers go out of their way to make her feel special and help to make each child's learning individualized. Also, their Academy of the Arts program has allowed her to learn so many new things about artists and her music potential.
The teachers that my kids have had are very open to my communication and get back to me right away when I have questions. I do wish the district would bring over advance social studies and science. I don't think it is fair to have some schools that got it and others that didn't. I think the majority of teachers at Terramar are very caring and work very hard. I like all the programs that are available for the students to participate in after school. Also, the music and art teachers are fantastic! The PTSA is a great team, but there is not very much parent support at Terramar.
I have 2 children at Terramar. They are both Honor Roll students and participate in band and athletics. The administration and teachers are all involved in the learning and extracurricular activities. I would definitely recommend Terrmar as an academic environment. The field trips are amazing! Especially the 5th & 6th grade trips.
I love Terramar School. My child's teacher and the staff of the school do an outstanding job communicating my child's learning and the happenings/events of the community. I am excited about the Arts Academy. The teachers are true professionals and the administration is supportive of focused learning and the opportunities provided by the Academy.
I will agree 2007 was a great year for Terramar. But as of 2009-2010 the school year and the trouble I see with the staff and kids in 6-8 grade , it is unbeliveable. Kids fighting with each other and Teachers looking the other way for some kids and dropping the hammer down on others. We need a staff that care's for all the kids ,Good or Bad. Be fair. I have talked to alot of parents and kids that are going to Terramar they feel the same way. I will not start on the school lunch program. I just hope that it gets better. I just many pull them out of terramar. Maybe I am just upset at this time. I wish the best for are kids and Staff at Terramar 2010.
Love this school, we have gone to schools in two other states and Terramar has them beat. My boys have had wonderful teachers. My 3rd child will start kinder next year. I hope we never have to move!!!!
What a great year we've had at Terramar! Mr. Hongiman has been wonderful and the addition of Laura Combs as Assistant Prinicipal has further developed the school into an outstanding learning enviroment!!
My two children have been attending Terramar for 3 years. This school year 2007-08 has been wonderful. My 7th grader talks more about school now then he has his whole life. We love the sports and all the 7th & 8th graders who attend the sporting events is just awesome. It gives these kiddos a place to hang out with great supervison. I do agree Mr Honigman has made a huge impovement during his time here. I love Terramar!!!!
After seeing the last couple of negative reviews, I had to write. Two of my children attend Terramar and love it! I think our principal, Mr. Honigman has his heart and soul in this school and has made some wonderful and much needed changes! From personally knowing Mrs. Getty, Mrs. Berk, Mrs. Gedney, Mrs. Keyes and Mrs. Kasten (SAGE teacher), they have far beyond exceeded my expectations teaching my children! Concerning the other teachers , I have witnessed first hand how kind, considerate, and attentive they are to their students. I know this school has struggled in the past as all new schools do, however, I feel that the principal, assistant principal, staff, teachers, PTSA and students are all on the right track to make this school a huge success! THANK YOU AND KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!
I moved my daughters over from a nearby charter school, and my daughters are doing great! This school has so much more to offer. I am really impressed with the office staff, the teachers and the level of parent participation.
Terramar is an excellent school with excellent teachers and staff. Teachers will go the extra mile to make sure that all students succeed. Teacher expectations are high and the students achievement reflects that. Parent participation plays an important role in this schools success. I have two children attending Terramar, both had a great 2006-2007 school year - Thank You Terramar!
I am a seventh grader in Terramar and I know that the teachers here are letting kids slack off. I rarely learn anything.
I do not like this school. They've had way too much turnover with teachers. Many of the one's they do have are unprofessional.
I only have negative things to say about this school, teachers, principal and administrative staff. The State of Arizona needs to take a serious look at this school and their methods of teaching our children and the lack of quality teachers. The negative effects of the teachers and principal on the children are the worst part of this school. Can't someone do something to help the kids at this school get a good education with teachers and administration that cares? Please get someone with a direction, that focuses on the real issues, our children and learning and Love.
This is absolutely the worst school my children have attended. The teachers that my kids have (I'm not sure about all) are rude, disrespectful, and have an uncaring attitude toward the children.
This is a good school. I do think that they need a better punishment system. They also need to listen to the children. Some of the teachers should,nt be so uptight. I have 2 children in this school. One in 3rd grade and the other in 8th. They think that it is a decent school.
Great support from the PTSA. You must get involved to get to know which teacher is going to be a good fit for your child many different teaching styles.
