My kids love their school. Bookstore and attendance staff very nice. No complaints yet. Looked at several potential campuses and we're happy we chose LIberty.

I have two students attending Liberty High School. During their four years of high school experience, we encountered several dilemmas, not with academic concerns, but with ethnicity/racialism issues. There are two teachers at Liberty who really made my children feel special each and every day at school. My children have absolutely high respect for these two teachers, namely, Mrs. Martin (Math) and Mrs. K. Garner (English). These teachers need to be recognized not only for their talents in teaching but treating students with paramount respect. There are teachers and there are true teachers who will go beyond a mile to help make their students be successful. There is much turmoil among the high number of Mormons and the regular students attending this school. Administration need to get involve and stop the promoting of this religious segregation at the school. While the school indicates Excelling in academics, not ALL students are treated with respect by other students and staff members!

Kudos to the new principal at Liberty! I have seen many positive changes overnight, such as mailings home, a school facebook page and the amazing Excelling A celebration that included the entire student body. WOW!

Horrible experience at this school. My special-needs son spent almost two years here. Some of the teachers are very helpful, caring and supportive; others are not at all. Principal is not genuine, towing the district line instead of being there for the kids, especially special-needs students. DO NOT SEND YOUR SPECIAL NEEDS STUDENTS TO THIS SCHOOL! IEP staff are NOT well-versed in IDEA law and will take advantage if you don't know what to ask for. If you want your kid to grow up fast by exposing them to excessive inappropriate behaviors within the student body, this is the school to bring them to. My son came home after the first week and said, "There are SO MANY bisexual and lesbian girls at this school." SERIOUSLY?!! Yes. How would a 14-year-old know this? Because it's tolerated. Students making out in hallways is not uncommon, and the majority of the staff do nothing. However, any other incident, (even a minor one) will be noticed and sent to the principal.

We researched high schools in the west valley for two years before our son went into high school and continue to keep tabs on the different schools in the west valley. The result of hours and hours of research is that Liberty is the top high school in the west valley. They probably have set new state records for achieving the most awards and accomplishments (academic and athletic) in the shortest time ever. I'm an AZ native and have never heard of a school accomplishing the things that Liberty has accomplished in such a short time. You'll notice that just about all of the negative reviews on this site are about kids who struggle to keep up. Our son was easily a straight A, honors student in the Dysart School District, but had a rude awakening when he started at Liberty. He has still been able to maintain that honors status, but it has required 10 times more effort than he ever had to put out before. If your child is not willing (or able) to put out that level of effort, Liberty High School is probably not for you. If you want the best of the best of academics and athletics, you will get that at Liberty.

I can't wait until my child graduates from this school. She has had to retake math class in 9th and 10thgrade even after going to tutoring. She just didn't get somethings and when she would ask for help the teacher would tell her to pay attention, which would frustrate her because she was but she still didn't understand. In fact I had contacted one of her math teachers and when i asked him his class average, oh my god he started screaming at me telling me it was none of my business and I told him it is my business because my child is in your class and given the fact that on the weekly reports he use to have the class everage which was a D at that time and I noticed he quit putting the class average on his reports that's why i had asked. I will deal with him through the district after she graduates.

The teachers are not open to tutoring, the football program gets all the attention, students grades are not equal with regards for qualifying for after school events. A student can play football with a D, but for a student to be in drama they must have a 3.0

Liberty is a clean school and the teachers, overall, help each and every student grasp accademics as well as prepare them for the real world.

Overall, I am very pleased with the high school. The AIM program offers enriching and challenging courses. My son's college counselor has been so helpful, kind, and strategically minded about pursuing scholarships and acceptance into colleges. Our son is happy and motivated. Far more than he ever was at his previous private school.

Uneven staff - most are very good. Great athletic program. Limited academic offerings, because it is a new school still ramping up. Disciplinary actions are arbitrary, unpredictable and often contradict district policy. Little proactive carreer counselling for Juniors.

As a new school opens or for anything that first opens up, there will be pro's and con's. As for my experience with this new school,I feel there is good staff(willing to help), and the principle has control and I feel that is important with this new era of kids. The sports programs for the first year has been very impressive and I can't wait for next year.I feel any new student thinking of going to a 5a or to another close by school to re-think and make sure they are making the right choose for them. This school will make a Name for its self in coming years.

We have been extremely pleased with the first year at Liberty. Our son has become very active in sports and has a lot of good things to say about the teachers and staff. I have felt very involved since before the school opened. It is a terrific school and I have nothing but praise.

Good principal, good staff; teachers and office workers always willing to help.Need to offer more choices in foreign language. Not everyone wants to learn Spanish. French should be offered, I think they finally are offering German. As we like to travel to Europe this is important for us. No desire to slum it up at Rocky Point and if I had my way phone directories wouldn't give the option of choose #1 for English..Ridiculous!

About the tests

In 2011-2012 Arizona used the Arizona Instrument to Measure Standards (AIMS) to test students in reading and mathematics in grades 3 through 8 and 10, writing in grades 5, 6, 7, and 10, and in science in grades 4, 8 and 10. AIMS is a standards-based test, which means that it measures how well students have mastered Arizona learning standards. Students must pass the grade 10 AIMS in order to graduate. The goal is for all students to meet or exceed state standards on the test.
