Hi, I am currently going to this school. I am in 6th grade. DO NOT GO TO THIS SCHOOL! This is one of the schools that bad children go to. The teachers are stressed trying to make them behave. THEY NEVER DO! I feel I don't get the proper education. If it wasn't for me going to Benchmark, I would have flunked 7th grade at another school. The teachers are are nice but are concentrated on trying to control the kids. I'm sure I'm not going here next year.
I am currently a sophomore at Desert Pointe Academy ( DPA ) But I have been going to CCA & DPA since the 3rd grade. I love the atmostphere especially. Why? The teachers are always there when you have a question. Always helping. The office staff are amazing. They updated my parents on a daily bases or when nessecary. Being a 10th grader my teachers are great. I was afraid of starting high school they made my freshman year back very good. When I transfered to a public school, i did NOT get the One on One attention I needed. But at DPA the teachers help you every step of the way. I recommend this school not just to catch up but to meet new people and focus on school more. :)
I currently have 3 children attending this school. All of their teachers are wonderful and truly care about the children and the school. The sports program is taking off, but I am very unhappy that there is no art program to speak of. I worry about discipline in the upper grades. It is now mid January and no field trips yet. There is a lot of fund raising for charities, which is nice, but I wonder if the money would be better spent on the school itself. I have to agree that Admin and Office Staff could be friendlier. And, the school lunch program needs serious updating- they are always seriously off in their calculations, and need to get on board with MyLunchMoney.com or something similar. I also wish they would keep their website up to date. But, with all that said, the teaching staff makes this school worth it.
My nieces go to this school. I wish I had known about this school when my kids were growing up. The teachers are caring and attentive to all the children. It's a great school.
My son has been attending CCA since kindergarten. He's going into the 3rd grade this year. I love the small class sizes and the friendly atmosphere. The teacher's give the attention each individual child needs and I couldn't ask for more.
I had a hard time rating this school because I have 2 different experiences. The school was a lot of fun for one of my sons and they're working really hard at getting extra curricular programs going. He seemed to do fine here. On the other hand, my other son had a really hard time there. He is an ADHD child and the teachers and staff were horrible at working with him and never gave me any updates until it was too late for him to catch up and correct any issues he had. So if you have an average child or even above average- give it a try, but if you have a child that needs special attention, don't even bother.
I had 2 children attend this school and they learned a lot in their math, spanish, and art courses, in which they excelled repeatedly. Some of the staff where always willing to help my children. The principal that retired was one of the most prepared and well respected there. The newest principal that just joined the staff in 2006 didnt really help the school any. The year he joined the staff the school took a turn for the worst.
This school is great. My daughter has been going since 1st grade and loves it. They provide the attention she needs and she has experienced no bad issues here with either the teachers, staff, or other students. The Principle and Director are always available when I need them and are happy to assist me. The PTO was excellent this year. Her teacher always kept me well informed of her progress and how much she loved having her in her class.
My children attend CCA and are very happy with their teachers-me too! The teachers are great and really care about the children. The school lacks after school activities, which disappoints me. The office and admin. need to communicate with the parents better and be more friendly.
My second grader went to CCA as a kindergartener before we moved out of state. I can not say enough good things about this school and their K teacher! My son was Wway ahead of the game in first grade at our new school and it is rated one the top schools in our district.
I have 5 kids attending here from 1st throegh 8th grade. All of them were homeschooled previously. the teachers and student faculty ratio have made the transition easy. the teachers are caring and informative and the sports programs are really taking off. i would like to see a band program and better admin. communication with the parents. But I am very pleased with the school.
The quality teachers at Copper Canyon Academy is excellent. My child is learning algebra in the third grade! The teachers care about their students and do everything possible for my child including after school tutoring. Although, I have strong concerns about the administration because there seems a lack of communication between them and parents. The school lacks extra-curricular activities and my child only gets PE once a month. Overall I am greatly impressed by the teachers at the school.
Dy daughter is in 1st grade & her reading, writing & math is perfect.I was amazed how good she could read & write, her teacher is great. But the admin. staff on the other hand.. I guess the do not communicate with each other in the office at all. I would say that the only thing I find annoying about this school is lack of communication between office staff and the parents.
My 5 year old grandaughter goes to copper canyon acadmey, she can read, spell, add, count by 5's , tell time on a regular clock not just digital, she has learned spanish, computers, has p.E. The teaching staff is excellant there! she starts school at 8:00 am till 2:45 pm. I can't say enough about the teachers at copper canyon, they are there for the kids, they all get special attention, they try to have small classes, so everyone gets one on one help! next year she will be in first grade, i can't wait to see what she learns then! the parents can go to school any time to check on their kids, just check in at the office first! you can also go on field trips too!
I have used this school for K-2nd grade and so far the teachers have been wonderful, but I have heard things for the upcoming years that I am unhappy with. I plan on choosing a different school. This school offers no music program, PE is only done once every few months for a 1 week period, there is no playground equipment available, sports are only available to High School students. There have been a few issues through the years that I have requested attention on and the office staff has blown it off. Rules for High Schoolers tend to get overlooked quite frequently and there have been a few lockdowns in the past years, when questioned the office staff has told me my childs grade was not involved and the matter was resolved, I feel I have a right to know what happens in my childs school no matter what.
My 4 children have attended CCA and DPA for 5 years now with a brief attendance at other schools. My husband and I chose to send them back to these two schools for many reasons. First let me say that none of my children are disciplinary children. They struggle in some classes, excel in others, make friends have good and bad days. We sent them back because CCA and DPA do make a difference. Maybe if the public schools were funded better we wouldn't have to turn to charter schools. But I am proud to have my children attend these schools! I support them and have 4 great examples of the benefits that these schools have had with my most prized gifts, my children! As with any school, there are always issues, but you work through them! Just like in everyday life! Kudos CCA and DPA!
Great school, small student to teacher ratios, dedicated staff, comprehensive special education program!
When I first brought my grandchild here to this school, I thought Great! They have a policy for the children to wear uniforms, and the guidlines seems strict enough to make sure the children all act respectable. My opinion of the school reflects on how my grandchild has been treated, which is unfairly. She has had her lunches taken from her, called vulgar obsenities, they make fun of her,and treated rudely. the faculty states they will take care of the issue, however to this date it has not. I have complained to the Governing Board, and to the Arizona Charter School district. Hopfully, this will force the school to action against these children. Otherwisde I will have too. The public schools have a no tolerance in place, which doesn't this school?
My daughter was very unhappy in public school. In two years she has gone from special ed to deans list! I truly believe it's because of her school!
