I am a graduate of Mountain Pointe, and I have nothing but good things to say about it. I moved from Northeast Ohio as a sophomore, and was immediately embraced by my fellow students. My experience was extremely positive, and l have nothing but fond memories. As far as I am concerned, I will always be a member of the pride!!

My son just began his freshman year here at MPHS. From the beginning the staff and upperclassmen have been awesome! Their two day Freshman boot camp was a huge plus in my son's early success in transitioning to this level. Wish we had that back when I was starting high school! Mr. Kipper is great at communicating school needs, events and expectations and I was thoroughly impressed with his prompt reply to emails. Two thumbs up!!!

My daughter attends MPHS. She is now a senior & developed SO MUCH P R I D E! I really respect Mr. Kipper's communication w/ parents. We are ALWAYS in the loop. The ongoing communication is excellent and I am VERY thankful of the safety. Each school has an occassional bad apple that brings drugs or alcohol to school, BUT MP does NOT take this lightly and responds VERY quickly to each situation. My daughter is very safe at MP. She s involved in many clubs (100 s MP offers) which has increased her self esteem and confidence. I cannot say enough about MP. We tried to visit Desert Vista when deciding a school for her, but had a terrible time communicating with staff or anyone returning our phone calls. They gave us a TA for the tour, but communication with an adult was impossible. My son is starting this year as a freshman and working with the freshman football team. They have been EXCELLENT with him and we are confident he will have the awesome journey my daughter experienced. THERE S A REASON MOUNTAIN POINTE S RATINGS ARE SO HIGH. Thank you MPHS and keep up the EXCELLENT work!

My observations of Mountain Pointe High School (daughter graduated May 2011) are that MPHS is a very special place where the faculty/staff are really working towards the success of each student in school and their future. Mountain Pointe's dedicated teachers, helpful staff, involved Principal = GREAT school! The "Pride's Peak" program for the gifted students is excellent --- and is enhanced further (personal recommendation) by student participation in MPHS Academic Decathlon resulting in complete academics-social/student-faculty involvement (with accompanying family (Booster Club) support). The Foreign Language, and Science departments at Mountain Pointe High School are especially outstanding! Very motivated and involved faculty members who have a deep interest and knowledge of their field. Wonderful Visual Arts program. What has impressed me the most about MPHS is how the faculty and staff truly care and are looking to help each student succeed. Mountain Pointe High School seems to be a place that an individual can find a group of friends and a mentor(s) with whom they can relate to help them grow and flourish in school and life.

We love Mountain Pointe! We actually live in Desert Vista's district, but have chosen to send our kids to MP. It is more diversified, the teachers and staff are wonderful, the courses they offer are exceptional. Principal Kipper has truly turned this into an A+ school!

As a Mountain Pointe Alumni of 2009, I can honestly say that the school itself is a joke. While many lifelong memories were made here that I will cherish for forever, these memories have not helped or prepared me for the real world. The teachers are generally funny, fun, and engaging, however they do not live to their title of "teachers" as many do not actually teach. Rather the Mountain Pointe philosophy of teaching is to sit at your desk while you students watch a video that barely pertains to the subject matter at hand. There are many success stories of students out of this school going to prestigious and great universities, however the sad truth is that for the most part the administration turns a blind eye to all students who are not part of the principal's son and daughter's friend groups. Furthermore most teachers do not care about the students and would turn a blind eye to them in their time of need. This school is an over crowded mess, and needs help. only send your child here if you do not care about their future

This is an AMAZING school! For all the parents out there tell your child or children to get involved. It makes things a whole lot easier and you meet a lot of new and fabulous people. Never be afraid, it only makes it worse! But other than that Mountain Pointe is the school to be at!

We have two kids attending Mountain Pointe and are so happy with EVERY aspect of the school. Our son has been part of three sports programs. Each sport had wonderful, challenging coaches, who were tough enough and uplifting enought to make our son's experiences just what parents would hope for from high school sports. Our daughter has been in one sport and continues to be thrilled w/the coaches and program. Lots of parent support and very little drama in both kids' sport programs. The coaches just don't allow it. Their teachers amaze us -- each and every one has good experience in and out of the classroom share w/the students. We feel like school is fair and love seeing rules being enforced, (even when our kids have been swept, dress coded, and phones taken away). We so appreciate the "no tolerance" policy. Mountain Pointe is a fabulous, well-rounded school!

AWESOME school! I have had two children attend MP. My son played football all 4 years and graduated 2 yrs ago. My daughter will be a Sophomore this year. Both children were always EAGER to go to school each day and have earned excellent grades. The Teachers and staff are superb, and there is a much needed level of diversity among the students. Many cultures, all intermingling in an excellent manner. I have an immeasurable amount of respect for everyone involved at this campus.

Mixed review.: Great and carring teachers usally are the ones who are right out of college. Others have been there to long and don't really care. Some of the coaches have way to much power, and become the school bullies. My child also reports some of the athletes intimidate the teachers. They sleep in class and the teachers are afraid of them.

This school is the worst!!! The front office staff is absolutely the most miserable group of people I have ever met. There is no communication between staff and students and some of the teachers are so un organized that they actually marked my daughter absent while she was actually there. I have left messages for my daughter at the front office and she never got the message. I would not recommend this school at all!!

Montain pointe is really a good school . We all like the school . If I have to suggest for improvement , I would say that , the school should provide better information about further educational opportunities and chances of getting financial aid.

I did not enjoy my experience at Mountian Pointe High School. I felt like all of the students there were in a clique, and the academics failed dismally. If you want to send your child to a great school near the Phoenix Valley, then I would suggest Hamilton High School in Chandler, Arizona.

i say it's a pretty good school. i am a current student at this school and i think i am getting a great education. but that's because i want to. usually the students who get terrible grades, are the ones that don't try. believe me, there are alot of kids that don't try. but i don't know much about the administration. i guess it's an alright school. i like it alot more than dv.

Mountain Pointe was an amazing school to graduate from, when talking to the President of my private university he had nothing but good things to say about MP. He also mentioned that we get a lot of great students who excel from MP. The teachers always made classes fun, especially the honors and AP teachers. Much of them teach the same way my college professors have been teaching me. MP has a challenging academic program and any student who goes here is lucky to receive such an education. The administration wasn't great, but the guidance councilors, not only my councilor but the others in the office, did nothing but encourage me and help me with applying to college. I personally applied to 10 colleges, 2 being private institutions , and got accepted into all of them with a full ride scholarship. Those student who do not excel at Mountain Pointe don t do it because the school isn t great, they do it because of lack of desire and willingness to strive for excellence.

My kids and I are very sad to have left this school when we recently moved to another state. As a former CPS employee, I have worked in several AZ schools and believe this to be well above average in many ways. MP has a great academic program and plenty of opportunity for students who excel. MP also offers an excellent sports program. The student body is somewhat more diverse than most schools in the area. We were pleased overall with the staff, including teachers and counselors. Many of the teachers respond to parent communication very positively. We will miss MP.

You say disorganized, well the first two weeks of school are a little disorganized as students are getting used to everything. Did you ever bother to go in and talk to anyone? Yes, we have sweep but it is not in effect the first week of school.

I was very disappointed in this school's performance! For several reasons...poor policy, poor communication, (the principal would not return my e-mails) disorganized. I feel sorry for the students who go there, they are treated so badly. This was my son's 6th day there, he was confused on where to go next so he was 'swept' and was not allowed to go to lunch by the 'SECURITY GUARD' who refused to let him go to the office and call me. This is not the behavior or environment that I want my son to be in! If you have a student that goes there Please, Please listen to what they have to say & do something about it! You might want to check out Arizona Virtual Acadamy it is FREE...your tax dollars are paying for it, why not give your child the best education.

As a former student, going into the field of education, I thought MtP was an excellent school, offering many opportunities for its students to excel. For a school with so much diversity, the environment was very warm and accepting. The teachers were knowledgable in their subject areas and were able to individualize education to their students needs. This school has it all. I thought the staff, curriculum, and extracurricular activities were all top of the line.

As a recent graduate of Mountain Pointe, I could not be more pleased with my experience there. I was treated as an individual with my own needs and learning techniques in a diverse environment, which is sadly not evident in many schools. As an education major, I have been asked to go back and look at my schooling experiences and seriously question and consider methods, etc. In my research, I have found Mountain Pointe even more amazing than I thought when I graduated. The administration supports their students and teachers and was always amazingly helpful when a problem would arise to make sure it was solved to better my education. If I had children, I would be proud to send them to an exceptional school like Mountain Pointe.

Our two sons graduated from Mountain Pointe, an Excelling school promoting rigorous academic programs. One is now in a career and the other attending a private, small Ivy college. We could have chosen any school for our sons but we chose Mountain Pointe. It is a beautiful, safe campus. It has a diversified ethnicity the same composition as our sons will co-mingle with in real life, and each student, whatever level of achievement, are treated as an important individual. The Band Program is second to none. The Director of Bands, Leo Werner, is the only Music teacher in Arizona to achieve the Excellence Certification Award from the National Board of Professional Teachers Standards. He is one of the many treasures on the campus. Parent involvement is encouraged and promoted. The parent volunteer program is the largest in the district. The sports program is run with integrity, sportsmanship and honesty! Go Pride!

As many are saying here, the biggest flaw with Mountain Pointe is the administration. They are perfectly capable of carrying out their duties but fail pretty badly. When I say administration, I am not referring to teachers. Some teachers are very problematic, but overall they are very impressive. Basically, the adminstration makes it seem like the school is put in place to aid their existance, and not the students'. They do treat the kids, more or so young adults, (many can even be considered matured enough as adults) as if they are inferior.

I have two daughters that attend MPHS - a junior and a senior. Overall, their experience has been positive. The diversity at the school is a plus. However, I have found the administration to be inflexible with policy. My girls, both great teens with good grades, feel as though they are treated in a condescending manner. They believe students are looked down upon by administration, expecially those [of a certain] status.

Lots of learning goes on in most every class my teenagers have been in. Stimulating science teachers. We experienced inadequate accountability of a teacher with weak classroom management skills, and another teacher who had a very high number of students failing and transfering out of his class. Our children's guidance counselor has answered questions they have posed to him, but the counselor never responded to our parent e-mail or phone message. Strong volleyball program with caring coaches. Active sports parent booster organizations. Parents very involved in many clerical duties as volunteers.

I have dealt w/mountian pointe high school for the past 3 years, the experience my children have had I have not been pleased with. I have found if you are not a 'jock' or in top 5% of your class your child w/be swept under the rug. The staff does not hold itself accoutnable for anything. As parents we are expected to be held accountable but as educators they feel they are above it.

As a parent of a challenged freshman I have found it extremely difficult to get cooperation from the guidance counselors (i.e. phone calls not returned, what little assistance received was too little too late, childs problems were not taken seriously). The administration/faculty short changed my child for missing school due to a chronic illness (a form is available yet apparently a secret) by giving my child unexcussed absences. Overall, the staff cares but, parents must follow-up with counselors. Parents, you must be aggressive with your child's educators to ensure your student doesn't fall through the cracks!

As both a parent of a senior at this school and a travelling substitute language arts/social studies teacher, I am most impressed by the education at this high school. The administration is very supportive of the learning process and they also are agressive in their desire to achieve high marks in both the standardized tesitng and other areas of excellence - most notably in the number of students graduating and moving on into higher education. The curriculum supports the efforts of faculty and paretn alike, and the school makes a concereted effort to attain the lofty goals as set forth on their mission and values statements.

Mt Pointe is a growing school academically, athletically, and as a community presence. With only 10 years under its belt, it has won more championships than any other high school in Arizona during the smae time period. My children have each received a great education.

Mountain Pointe is constantly improving on the safety, the educational standards and the quality of student life in general. With such a wide variety of ethnic and economic students, it still is rated as one of the top schools both academically and athletically. It also is rated as one of the top extra curricular activity schools. Any student would really have to try to not be involved with something at Mountain Pointe.

There are problems with administration, teachers and coaches at Mt. Pointe. They really don't have the student's best interest at heart. Safety is also a concern.
