My three kids attended this school for 2012-2013 school year. The presentation is nice since they have a new campus but one of the office staff is very rude I found myself up at the principal's office the first day of school reporting the incident. I wound up reporting that faculty member three times that year. I only interacted with the assistant principal and he was outstanding he should have become the head principal instead of bring someone else in. I absolutely hate it is a public uniform school. Whoever said uniforms save parents money were delusional. Because for parents with multiple children they have to furnish (in my case 6 wardrobes because I have three children which makes two wardrobes each, street and uniforms) Kids do not wear uniforms on weekends or breaks and then they get very little use out of their street clothes because they grow through out the year. I will say they handled discipline by the guidelines they set forth which made for consistency. The teachers, my fourth grader and kindergartner had were great. However my fifth grader's teacher was very unorganized as well as my student so between the two of them they were always looking for assignments.
This is a continuation of my previous review I checked one star because you cannot submit a review without a star rating and I already gave the school a three star rating... I liked the extra curricular activities offered band starts in fourth grade here however, the band director is not great with communication, when I asked about purchasing colored instruments vs traditional I had to contact other high schools because it took him two weeks after school started to answer me after several phone call attempts, emails, and written notes, and I needed to order the instruments so they could have them in time of school. They also have basketball for 5th and 6th graders, which was awesome to watch my student play, when she got the chance. My main reason for not returning was because of uniforms.
I am 19 now, But I remember my years at Mountain View in 1996 when it was located somewhere else and It was nice. This school was the best in my years and I also remember The Cinco de Mayo dances that I was in. Miss the years at Mountain View But thanks to thoughs years I learned a lots.
When my children first attended this school for Kindergarten 3 years ago this school seemed to be on the up and up. I was really impressed with the staff and was sad to have to leave, however we returned to the area for their 2nd grade year and I am not very impressed at all. I now have 3 children attending and the lack of communication between the staff and myself about important events is disturbing. I have a niece attending that is graduating this year and there has not been one sent home about her 'promotion' as they are calling it. They are expecting her to repeat everything to me and it comes home in a jumbled mess. Not to mention that I never received a call back after numerous calls to her teacher about a book she was given to bring home and the content of such said book.
this is my son's 1st year of school, he started about a month after school has started because we were out of the country, i feel the he has learned a lot even dough he was a lil behind and missed some lessons that got tought at the begining of the year, like learning to write his name. but i love that the teacher took the time to send me extra homework for him to practice and get up to date. i cant wait for the parrent teacher conferences so i can know exacly how my son in doing in school. i also like the changes that were made for the students parrent drop off bay. last year there was a lot of activity with the walking parrents and the driving parrents all at the same time. the best part is that my son says loves school, cant beat that!
