North High is one of the highschools i been attending so far , since my fresh mean im a student of 2014 . North High has such as fun activites and gropus , many teachers that are helpful for there students . (:
As a substitute teacher 20006-07, I found North High to be a favorite school. The teachers are dedicated, hold high expectations, and enjoy their students, which reflects in student work and behavior
the IB program is great and the extra curricular activities are great. The teachers really want to teach
The IB program at North is great for sudents who are overachievers, hard workers, and like a challenge. The overall school is also, very nice.
I went to North High and I can honestly say that I learned very much! I not only learned the curriculum but I learned how to be the most productive, working adult that I can be. Thanks to the wonderful teachers at North High!
I think North has very good teachers, my sons teachers cared about my son and encouraged and pushed my son to succeed. I think North has a great security dept and the officers on site are very involved with the kids on campus. My son was in football, and I was very involved in the booster club and I really believe that the parent involvement is below standard, and I don't think there is enough parent involvement.
Great school! The staff is patient and experienced and a large variety of extracurricular activities exist.
North High School's International Baccalaureate Program is a prestigious program in which it helps prepare students for obtaining a higher education. The staff is outstanding and dedicated to the success of their students.
My son graduated from North in 2004. Given the many friendships he developed at the school, I think I can speak on behalf of many students and parents. The North IB program is very good, but as in all things, not perfect. That being said, its curriculum and the teachers prepared the students to compete at the national level for admissions to the best Universities in this Country. Admissions were granted to students to Yale, Stanford, Cal, Georgetown, Air Force Academey, West Point, USC, UCLA, Berkely and many other prestigious liberal arts schools. With respect to Arizona Universities, nearly all of the IB students received scholorships. I believe there were 7 national merits scholars, and several more who recieved honorable mention. In addition to the academics, the civil service requirement turned students into better citizens. With respect to athletics, everyone was welcome with an emphasis on sportsmanship and fun.
My son completed his freshman year at North High in the Honors program. I am extremely impressed with his Honors teachers and school administration. The school guidance counselors helped my son to make good choices. He was on both the football and track teams. Team emphasis was on individual development, not winning at all costs.
While the traffic flow for drop off and pick up is absolutely atrocious North offers some great programs. IB is a well-managed, quality program and the drama department is superior. The back to school news letter was the best that I have seen in the past 4 years.
The administration does not provide support for the teachers or students. The principal, and by example some teachers follow suit, belittle student achievements and goals. there are some very dedicated teachers and the occassional administrator. Additionally, very few parents seem to be involved (or care) about their child's welfare or education. I'm hoping for changes.
My daughter attends North High and is in the IB program in the 11th grade. I am very disappointed in the principal. She downgrades the students and talks to them as if they were small children. She has very little skills as far as dealing with people. North High is a great school but this administration is absolutely terrible. Only two administrators have any business on this campus and they are Mr.Munoz and Dr. Hart. They sincerely care about kids and their futures. The rest need to go. I am seriously thinking about sending my daughter back to the Deer Valley School District if things don't change.
I have a daughter at North just completing her senior year as a student in the IB program. Through her four years in the program she has developed her organizational skills, critical thinking, as well as worked with many other talented students and teachers. The school is diverse but somehow North's family works together well. As with any inner-city school, there is a small percentage of the population that doesn't necessarily go to school to learn- don't let that fool you. Do not be blinded by the negative but focus on the wonderful extra-curriculars, supportive staff, and outstanding education in the IB program.
Very good teachers. A lot have been there for many years. They need a strong support, haven't had it from this principal. Great IB program. Needs a strong change in principal, teacher and staff have been strongly undermined these past two years. Sad. Great students. Serious gang/type prob. brewing unless under control fast! Feel as if my 2 children have been safe, but need a stronger administration than has been these last few years.
I am a graduate of North High School's class of 1999. Attending North was by far the best decision that I have made. The IB program at North, along with the support of the incredible and involved teachers and administrators, prepared me to compete academically with students from even the most prestegious boarding schools in the nation. I now will be graduating from Georgetown University in May 2003, but I could not have gotten to where I am now without the education and support I received at North.
These teachers are helping my son reach for himself. He came from a middle school where he didn't have much responsibility. His awakening at North has been effective and quick. It has been an eye-opener and took less time than I thought it would. His teachers in the Honors Core really care about him, as does his counselor, Ms. Ong. I am proud to be a North High Mom, and even prouder of the staff. The principal has a LOT of energy and insight for the kids and their future. Keep up the good work!
