Orangewood Elementary School

Test scores are greatly influenced by the socio-economic background of the children, and this is not a mega-buck, upper crust neighborhood - it is working-class (but certainly not low-class) demographic. The student body is full of prideful, enthusiastic children. The teachers reflect that as well - they are caring, attentive, and challenge the students to achieve their personal best every day. I will gladly continue to send my kids here, to a professional, dedicated staff that teaches kids how to succeed in LIFE rather than on TESTS - there s more to it than the numbers.

My kids really like the school. I am not happy with the rating, but my kids have done really well at this school. The Drama productions are fabulous. The music programs are also pretty great, but the manners of the population (talking, making calls, texting) ruin the great performances. The cafetorium is always crowded. Otherwise, there are many enriching programs and the school offers many eductional opportunities for all grade levels, particularly in the sixth grade. The teachers that team with Mr. Vasey are amazing.

I have been so impressed with this school. I am a discerning parent and I have both my 5th and 6th grade students here. Andree, the principal, is a wonderful administrator that is open to parent involvement and genuinely cares. The teachers are excellent and really care about the kids academic learning and well being. It has not been unusual to call and discover the teachers still at school at 7 or 8 night, because they want to be. They are just that dedicated. The special education program is phenomonal as well. The staff in the special needs departments care that the kids get what they need and they do whatever it takes.

I have been extremely happy with the education my children are receiving at Orangewood. The administration and the teachers are excellent and very involved in the school community. Orangewood is an excellent school especially for 6th grade. The teachers are very understanding and the students get to go on field trips that follow their cirriculum. Most of these children would never get to experience such an enjoyable time. And they are learning too, that is what is so wonderful about Orangewood Elementary School!!

I have a 4th grader and a child who will attend K in the fall. My husband and I fell our daughter has recieved an excellent education at Orangewood. There is desire and success at Orangewood to teach every child from the ESL student to the highly gifted. The teachers are wanting to bring technology into the classroom and use it for the students benefit. They want to see the students succeed. There is also a community feel to the school from the school plays to the spring fling and the fall festival. We are now a K-8 and our family is extremely happy at Orangewood.
