We originally felt this a top-notch, Christ-centered school. It truly was! Sadly, with the current superintendent hired 3 years ago, came a steady decline in standards, extremely weak leadership, the departure of quality Christian coaches/teachers, disappointing, disorganized, ill-equipped athletic dept. leadership, etc. The HS environment has become polluted with students who have been empowered to make alarmingly poor choices w/no consequences or accountability for behavior. Many NCS students on social media (and in person) are vulgar, unregulated and out of control. If your family is looking for an expensive public high school experience in a small, gossip-filled environment, we highly recommend NCS. You will enjoy a lack of dress code enforcement, foul language, disrespectful students, pathetic role models for coaches, weak HS administrative leadership and healthy tuition increases each year. Based on the current condition w/in the heart of the school, we are choosing to invest our money elsewhere while protecting the character and honor of our children. This school no longer abides by the Biblical standards we live by, rooted in His truth and instead, is just like the world.

So, this will start out sounding like an infomercial for hair loss, but hopefully you will read on to understand my passion for Northwest Christian School. Here's the infomercial: Not only does my oldest daughter attend and my other two will, but I am also an alum from NCS. The education, social skills, teacher quality, administration, etc. are far superior to any other school. In fact, NCS rates #1 in Arizona in the Business Journal's Book of Lists. The most compelling quality NCS teaches is compassion and not just normal compassion, but compassion as taught by Jesus Christ. In my opinion, this faith-based school produces highly successful children with compassion for others. Don't take my word for it, do the research yourself - start with the Business Journal. No expense is too high for this top-rated education and they will even help you figure out how to afford the education where you may pay nothing for your child's tuition. My daughter's entire next school year tuition is already covered and we even have more to cover the year after that. Exceptional, exceptional, exceptional. If you want to be the exception and not the majority, then send your children to NCS

Northwest Christian has been amazing! After one shadow day last year to explore the school, all 4 knew THIS was the school they wanted to attend! The decision was so important that we were contemplating 2 Christian schools 50 miles apart! We transfered our 4 kids from out of state, and have been overwhelmed with the welcoming atmosphere we received from students and faculty in the middle and high school. The teachers have found a way to relate to the kids at their ages, which is very important at this age group. The amount of ministry opportunites is fantastic and is amazing way to remind us all what God has called us all to do.

Our son has attended NCS for the past 4 years. We are so pleased with the Biblical worldview presented, partnership with great teachers, friendly office staff, and service oriented attitudes. Our son is encouraged to declare his faith in Jesus and pursue excellence. We highly recommend NCS to anyone looking to train up their children in a Christian environment.

When my husband and I first came to tour NCS we actually when in think we would just pay the extra money to keep our son in Joy, but once we took our tour if the campus and pre-school we were absolutely 100% on bord with switching our son to NCS. I did not have to even think twice about it. From the minute we step foot on campus and met with Michelle you can just feel the closeness and the love of god. My son has been there for pre-k and now currently in kindergarten. He LOVES it there. The teachers and staff are AWESOME. To here my son talk about god and watch him grow is just AMAZING. I would not want him to go anywhere else. The only thing I have notice, meeting the first grade teachers is I did not get a great sense from all the teachers but they still were all really nice.

We checked out NCS and another Christian school before moving here last summer, and we immediately felt at home at NCS. My kids are in preschool and kindergarten, and it has been a great experience this year. I appreciate the strong emphasis on giving back and the service projects the kids have been involved in already. Michelle in admissions has been amazing and helped me figure out scholarships for the kids, and my kindergartener is bummed that school is almost over for the year because he doesn't want to have to take a break! We plan on sending our two younger girls in the next few years, and I'm glad that all four kids will be at the same school!

Our three sons grew up at Northwest Christian. So, I speak from 20+ years of experience. There is no better school for Christian parents to send their children. My wife and I discovered that as our children grew up what we prayed for most for our children is that they wait for that special spouse that God has reserved for them. The best part of the NCS curriculum isn't even part of the curriculum. It's all the examples of Godly marriage modeled by the faculty and administration. When staff talk about their spouse it's always with endearment. One of the teachers actually posts a running total of the number of days he has been married on the white board. Priceless in my opinion. Our three boys are grown now and married to wonderful Christian gals. Part of that success is because of NCS and how the school reinforces the Biblical values taught at home and at church.

As a public school teacher for 18 yrs & parent of 2 @ NCS, this is HANDS DOWN the best school in the west valley. The character that has been instilled & emphasized, the leadership my kids are experiencing, the top notch academics & expectations... unsurpassed. The staff truly love my kids, not because my kids are perfect students, but because that's how NCS works- they care. This is a tough school academically, high expectations, a lot of projects done at home. If you are not wanting to be involved with your child's education, this is not the school for you. If you want your child to become a giving adult who takes pride in who they are & what they do, NCS is the place. Each time I entered campus, I literally cried the first year my kids were there- I was so overwhelmed by the excellence in everything that is done. The leadership is humble & listens. The teachers are caring, trained & on top of things. Communication is superb. Christian values & teaching is at the core of everything & everyone. I can't say enough good about our school.

Northwest Christian School I read an older posting about lack of warmth & compassion at NCS. Not true! The teachers CARE. The administration CARES. And of course the parents CARE or they wouldn't have their kids here. Yes, cliques are everywhere but ask most kids and parents whether they would want to be in an environment with christian cliques or worldly ones in some public school that may support everything but Christianity. If you want your kids influenced and educated by great teachers, in a safe, christian, academically superior environment with a strong christian world view NCS is it!

We have 3 still in school and one that has graduated. It is the commitment, quality and love that the teachers demonstrate for the students that has been amazing. The availability of sports, academics and arts programs makes the school a great well rounded experience for the students.

Northwest Christian is an Excellent school that takes pride in providing both a warm and friendly environment based on Christian values and a superior academic education. We have been at NCS for two years and wish we had our kids there all along. We transferred from a smaller Christian school and it is like night/day the difference in all aspects. I have 2 kids in the elementary and one in middle school and look forward to my kids graduating from NCS high school. Great academics (individualized and accelerated learning) Great teachers (several award winning teachers) who Love the students. Great management (well run, open and friendly, accessible) Great sports (in elementary as well as middle school and high school) Great after school opportunities Can't say enough about how much I LOVE this school

Choosing NCS for our daughters education has been the best decision we ever made for her. The teachers at NCS not only challenge her to do her very best but they demonstrate a love and compassion for each and every student in their classroom. Their curriculum is top notch and the delivery is engaging and age appropriate. If you desire a school that will challenge your child to excel in their God given talents & gifts and an environment where every child is important and taught in a Christ Centered community that values the whole person, mind, body, & soul then NCS is the clear choice!

Northwest Christian School is a great private school! Our son has been going to NCS for a total of 3 school years. We are pleased with the caring teachers and how they proclaim Jesus openly. The staff and teachers pray before talking with parents and students. The academics are challenging but the teachers always go out of their way to help students. They prepare the students for their future in collage and help parents and students understand collage expectations. The students learn how to do for others by doing ongoing service projects, such as, orphanges in Mexico, helping make sandwiches for the homeless, and serving at a local non-profit organization. The high tuition is expected but the school has many resources for the parents to apply for scholarships. They have scholarship meetings and are always willing to help parents with understanding the applications. We have been blessed every year with good amounts of scholarship monies each year. NCS will not let you down.

Northwest Christian School is a wonderful place to learn things from a biblical point of view. I love the fact that my daughter can pray at school, attend chapel once a week, and do service projects while getting an excellent education. NCS has dedicated and award winning teachers. Our school focuses on the right things! It feels like a small family. People step up and help others in need all the time. There are many activities offered to support all types of learners and gifts. Stop by and visit us.

My school is constantly looking for ways to improve student achievement along with teaching young people the importance of serving. We look for ways to integrate technology, God's Word, and cooperative learning. We love our students and their families. We work together to help students achieve not only academically but spiritually. We are a mission field and it is an awesome place to work and learn.

My twins have been attending Northwest since Preschool and are now in 3rd grade. Every year the teachers they receive fit perfect for them. The teachers are very caring and try different strategies for each children to make them succeed. The staff is always friendly and very helpful. My kids are always excited about school which I believe is because of the environment that is provided to them and the loving and supportive staff. It's nice that the kids only being in 3rd grade get to be involved in activities that they typically wouldn't be involved in until middle school or high school. Homecoming is a complete school spirit week not just focused for high school students. I believe this helps with the younger students getting involved with the school activities while they are young. I see in the future it will only make them more involved as the years go by. I couldn't be more pleased with Northwest and can't see my kids going to another school.

Northwest Christian School has impressed me in a number of ways. The teachers are certified by ACSI and the Arizona Department of Education. Each of the teachers and staff members my children interacted with truly cared about them. My children have been prayed for, prayed with and encouraged. Academically each of my children was challenged at their level of need. My three kids came in three flavors. One needed academic support and another needed academic challenge. We found both at NCS. Socially my children found their niche in athletics and fine arts. We have continually been blessed to be a part of NCS.

This school is amazing! We have been so impressed with the impact that NCS has had on our high school daughter! She has had so many opportunities to be involved in activities, sports, and service projects. The staff truly care for her and for us as a family--they have supported her, inspired her, and encouraged her to love the Lord with all of her heart, mind, and soul. They have prayed for us as a family and even sent us a hand-written card in the mail encouraging us. We are so blessed for this school as it has been a life-changing experience for our daughter and for us. I would strongly recommend this school.

In 2011, after exclusively homeschooling for 10 years, I put all five of my daughters at NCS. For the 2013-2014 school year I will have two juniors, one 7th grader, one 2nd grader, and one preschooler. We have experienced Mom's Day Out (birth to age 3+), elementary school, middle school and high school at Northwest Christian. What I have found is a sensitive, attentive, loving group of administrators, principals, staff and teachers and a student body that is welcoming and cares about new incoming students (you should see all of the new student activities in the summer and then there is high school camp - amazing). My five girls all have multiple good close friends and are involved in the school like crazy. The staff loves the kids and the academics are amazing. Chapel service each Wednesday is so important as their faith is fed whrough worship. Something's not right. We're having trouble contacting our servers. We're going to keep trying.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
