Kyrene del Milenio

We moved from California nearly 2 years ago and I am totally impressed with Kyrene schools. My 4 children LOVE this school and their teachers. So far, every teacher has been super communicative and has intervened if any of my children has had any academic concerns. They are really pro-active when it comes to teaching. Front office is super friendly and I am thrilled over all about this school.

I love this school so far!!! My daughter looks forward to going everyday! She has a fantastic teacher! As a former certified preschool teacher I have VERY high expectations of teachers and school staff. We are new to this school so I didn't know the previous prinicpal, but I love Jim Verrill. My daugher is in Kids Club in the am, but I can tell you the days that I drop her off in the am after the playground opens I have seen him out there greating each child and giving each one a high five wishing them an "awesome" day. All of the staff have been great. Competent and friendly! Communication is great and the really get the parents involved. We are also blessed to have some great parents in our daughters class. We are ALL very happy here!!!!

My children loved the past principal and now Jim is here they hate to come to school each day. I feel he does not like being our principal and wants out or back to his old building. Great with us bring Ms. Branch back who cared!! I think I will pull my three children

We recently moved from Katy, TX and are OVERJOYED with the improvement in the quality of education provided at this school. My 2 boys--kindergarten and 1st grade--are doing great here. I am very happy with the school!

My child loves Milenio. My child gets up every morning excited about going off to school. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the teacher is wonderful about keeping us updated on everything. We are very happy with Milenio, so far this year.

So far, quite disappointed in the staff and overall experience at Milenio. Hopefully, things will get better once our daughter moves into the next grade. If not, we'll jst get her into a healthier and more fertile learning environment, even if it requires shelling out $$$. Kyrene is just the 'best of the worst' in AZ and is quite overrated (at least Milenio). Guess this is what you get when education is a state's lowest priority.

I couldn't have asked for a better place for my daughter to begin her elementary schooling. Now that we've moved out of state, I realize even more how great Milenio is! This school really helped instill a love for going to school for my daughter. Her teachers were very enthusiastic and made learning fun. They were also very encouraging which helped build self-esteem. I also loved how they taught students to be respectful of one another. Communication on all levels- teachers, staff, principal - is outstanding.

I am so impressed with the wonderful attitudes and cheerfulness that everyone (that I have met) at this school displays. I have daughters that are now 21 & 22 years old that grew up in the Kyrene School District and unfortunately, they did not experience this same atmosphere. My son started Kindergarten this year and wow.. what a wonderful first day! The 'Celebration' was such a great way to get kids excited about attending school! Our whole registration process was a wonderful experience as well. Every time we walked into the Administration Office, we were greeted (and watched as students were greeted as well) with smiling faces and helpful attitudes. Milenio really seems like a happy place to be, ad we are so grateful for that!

Advanced academics including science and math, technology equipment is above most districts, multi-age classrooms allow for individualized student achievement, the children have the opportunity to learn foreign language, musical instruments, and many specialties most districts do not offer. In addition, the extra-curricular activities include dance, drawing, and chess. Parents are able to volunteer and participate in school activities at a level unparalleled in other communities.

The academic standards at Milenio are high. The curriculum is good and does include music and p.e. but no art for kindergarten -- i don't know at what age they get to have art class. Parent involvement is average/above average. If you're considering this school for a kindergarten student, I highly suggest one of the all day teachers. The front office staff at this school is wonderful. Couldn't be any nicer. All in all, it's a good school, I just wish my 5 year old was allowed to be 5 a little more. For example, there is no recess for half day at all, and at the beginning of the year they were told 'Kindergarten is not about fun, it is about learning.' Call me old fashioned but. . .
