Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

I have been sending my 3 children here for years with our youngest currently in PK. The PTO is ok. They lack accountability which has been going on for years. At Summit all parents are forced to pay dues for each child for the PTO. However funds are not spent for the preK and the younger K-4 students. Leadership can t make decisions and doesn't communicate them when made. This inability is because of the Country Club feeling that some parents report. It is true that prominent parents HEAVILY influence the decision making of the principal. The Administration also doesn't care about PK. The Pre-school is amazing and the teachers are doing wonderful things with those kiddos. The pre-school class rooms need an updating and Maintenance items are slowly taken care of. It s annoying because the school fund-raises constantly. People don t complain much because kids are only there for a year or so and then move on. But because I have now had my 3rd child going through PK I clearly see the lack of enthusiasm for this part of the school by the front-office. I do expect the leaders of the school to be the best of all the other school options.

Our three children are all new to Summit this year, and all are doing really well. Our children and my wife and I love their teachers. We are also very impressed with the academic challenges that the school provides and the way that it is presented to the children. All three truly enjoy school and look forward to the upcoming events this year. We couldn't be happier with the school and are so grateful that we have become a part of the Summit family.

This school has amazing academics which is why we switched our daughters from another private school to this one and there are no regrets! Both our daughters like math and our graduate daughter is now excelling in math at her high school and is two years ahead of most of her peers! The school could improve once people realize the value and enroll their children. It is a sacrifice to pay the tuition but well worth it!

Summit is all hype. The curriculum is no different tan the public school system.Discipline at the school is poor at best. This school is not worth the money. There are charter schools in the area the will prepare your child for the future than this school.Try Basis, much better, much cheaper.Save your money.

Summit School of Ahwatukee is incredible! We wanted our son at a NAEYC accredited preschool, and on our tour learned about the amazing toddler discoveries program, which we happily joined! When enrolling in preschool there was no question it would be Summit. We adored the teacher leading his toddler class and were thrilled to know that our son would thrive with her in preschool. After falling in love with Summit s preschool we could not help but fall in love with the entire school, which continues through 8th grade. We made the decision to move our elementary age daughter to Summit & are so happy we did. The teachers & students have been warm and welcoming. Teachers are well-educated, nurturing, caring individuals. You can tell they are genuinely happy every day to be educating our children. The curriculum is fantastic and everything is so hands-on, which our children love, and they are truly thriving. The most impressive and satisfying part of having our children at Summit is that, yes, the teachers are educating their minds but that teachers also want these children to grow to be amazing and well-rounded people; from everything our family has experienced they are doing just that!

The best way to describe Summit is "Country Club". You pay an annual fee (tuition) to be apart of the club. I was caught up in the hype of "excelling private school" when I enrolled my child. However, we quickly realized the bulk of our tuition was for "prettifying" classrooms and marketing. The school administration has a profound lack of leadership and integrity. Prominent parents heavily influence decision making, resulting in inequity of education, punishment distribution and over all student experience. Bullying is a major issue at Summit because of this. I agree this schools is not for gifted kids. The academics are only average despite small classes. In fact, it may be a good option for kids who are developmentally challenged, have sensory issues, learning disorders etc. because they will not be labeled by staff and class sizes are small. It is true that the school has a great art and music program also. However, you can send your child to a high performing public or charter school and supplement their education with music and art outside of school for considerably less than the tuition. Ultimately, Summit's academics and school culture were disappointing.

Summit School of Ahwatukee's Academic level is excellent. We witnessed that when we had to move out of state and our kid had to apply for an admission test done by a third party. I always like the fact that the school is relatively small and there is a strong feeling of community, with the parents heavily involved on their kids education.

I was so glad to get my kids out of this school. Kyrene School District puts this puny non-balanced school to shame. Kyrene has so much more to offer and so many beautiful children that are a real world mix. Many of the teachers are just puppets without the "real" experience. They have Summit experience and that doesn't fly. Summit is set up for those who have money and think they are getting their $$ worth... nope.

We are so pleased that all three of our boys benefit from the high quality education that Summit offers. The academic and social growth in our sons has been astounding and there is no doubt in our minds that it is due to the amazing Summit team and the exceptional program at Summit School of Ahwatukee. As educators, my wife and I appreciate the value of an individualized, child-centered education and we are so fortunate to have found such a program at Summit School of Ahwatukee. We look forward to another great year.

I find this amusing a SUMMIT parent exclaiming that in the past 5 years 5 SUMMIT students have been National Merit Finalists. Really people you need to wake up and smell the roses. in The same 5 years, Desert Vista High School has produced 103 student NMF! Quite clearly DVHS has significantly higher numbers of higher performing students, to note that your school has 5, is just embarassing, it shows just how weak the student body is, really #5 vs 100+.......For a SUMMIT parent to promote this is just funny.

I just wanted to share this incredible news about Summit where I am proud to say my 3 children attend. It speaks for itself! Summit School of Ahwatukee is proud to announce that four students from the class of 2010 are part of the prestigious and elite group of 2013 National Merit Semifinalists. Often high schools of 2,000 to 3,000 students have at most only a handful students earn this distinction. To have four students in a graduating class of 29 is exemplary, exclaims Head of School, Patrick O Brien. We are clearly proud of these graduates, and of the caliber of our teachers and curriculum. This is the fifth Summit graduate to earn this distinction. A 2008 Summit graduate was a National Merit Finalist.

We are in our 5th year at Summit. Our eldest started in K and our younger ones spent time in preschool, too. The teachers are tremendous. They take the time to assess the individual student and really communicate with the parents to give the child the most positive and satisfying experience. The tuition is, of course, substantial, but when comparing the well-rounded educational environment, it is justifiable for us. If you're looking for small class sizes, caring and creative teachers and administrators, and involved parents, this is the place to be!

This school has become the center of our children's lives. Our eldest began kindergarten at a highly rated public school, only to be bored and unchallenged. When we changed to Summit, he flourished. The climate is dynamic, the students aren't stuck in desks all day, they work in groups, transitioning to all kinds of special activities not offered at other schools (Spanish, art, laboratory science, technology, etc). Personal character development is stressed almost as much as academics, learning to respect others as well as yourself, and to always do your personal best. My children are thriving, and are truly happy and excited to go to school each day. I never worry for their safety or happiness when I drop them off in the mornings, and they greet me with smiles and stories about their day in the afternoons. Bottom line, I couldn't ask for a more well rounded education for my children. You truly have to see it to believe it, as the motto says. I only wish my own elementary education could have been as wonderful as theirs, and I'm grateful to be able to give this gift to my children.

We are extremely impressed and overjoyed with Summit School of Ahwatukee! What our son has learned in just a short month is proof in the pudding as to how stellar their curriculum is. My son last year went to Kyrene Public School and would continually tell me how bored he was every week with school. When my son started this year at Summit School of Ahwatukee he said "Daddy, I love my new school and i'm not bored'. When you are here, you feel like this school is truly part of your family. I was also impressed with the lower number of students to teacher ratio in the classes at Summit. I also like the philosophy at Summit that there is no ceiling towards learning for each student which enables the students to achieve anything they want to which you will be hard pressed to witness at Kyrene Elementary Public School. I also enjoy seeing the respect that each student has for each other at Summit which is refreshing to see. You can physically feel the joy of students, teachers, and parents. This truly is a gift to my child and will set him up for future success.

We recently moved to Arizona and had to choose a school for our children. Both of my children were very much involved in the selection process which we began online. We visited every school in Ahwatukee and the surrounding area. It was important to us that our children felt happy, secure and safe. Summit School of Ahwatukee promised everything we needed. It exceeded all of our expectations and continues to do so. Our children were immersed in a new and very different curriculum and they thrived in all subject areas and Summit School of Ahwatukee did an exceptional job in preparing for high school. This school offers a well rounded education where the academics are excellent with each class being delivered by teachers who have a passion for teaching. Their energy and enthusiasm develops a lifelong love of learning in the students. The students are encouraged each day to do their personal best. Our children have developed into confident, respectful and well rounded young adults thanks to the dedication of Summit School of Ahwatukee.

The middle school teachers are an extremely impressive group of seasoned professionals. We are so grateful to have them in our son's lives. He has been at the school since preschool and is now in 8th grade. We moved to Arizona so he could go to this school. The art and design program is internationally recognized. Summit is an extremely nurturing environment that requires high level thought of the students. The school create leaders and thinkers. Many of the students are also serious athletes in various club programs.

My children have been at Summit for a year now. We came from a highly rated public school in the valley and have really enjoyed all of the differences Summit has provided. My kids have become better problem solvers, public speakers and writers this year. There is a lot of focused learning at Summit. I help with second grade math once a week and am amazed at the different approaches the teachers have here. The children are really challenged to take a risk with their learning by answering questions and explaining their reasoning to their classmates. Morning meeting are held twice a week and provide the children opportunity to get on the stage and explain their work to their peers. The teachers here really do care about each child and are more than willing to meet at any time to discuss concerns. It's nice that the kids also have a chance to experience all of the specials that Summit offers including music, art, PE, Spanish, technology and science lab. Overall, we are very happy with our decision to send our kids to Summit.

Summit School of Ahwatukee is a great school. We have 3 kids at the school, 1 in middle school and 2 in elementary. We have been a part of the Summit community and family for 2 years now. I call it a community and family because it is just that... from the students and their parents, to the teachers, to the staff. Summit really brings out the best in it's students. The challenge the kids to do their best, to be creative and to enjoy the learning experience. Our kids transferred from public schools and we have seen them grow tremendously in their academics, the attitudes towards school and in their character qualities. We would highly recommend Summit School of Ahwatukee for any family that is looking for an inspiring culture that has great teachers and a welcoming and inclusive student body. It has been the best investment that our family has and could have made for our kids and for their future success.

The search for the perfect school was a difficult and arduous process. I looked at 10 different schools in the area, all of which were good but not great. Each school presented itself with its own distinguishing characteristics but fell short in providing the perfect combination of academic excellence and character building. Summit exceeds my expectations in every regard. The academics are outstanding and are presented to the kids in a way that is engaging and inspires a lifelong love of learning. The staff is excellent, from the administration, to the teachers and even the cleaning staff. The parent/family community is incredibly supportive and feels more like an extended family than people we simply know because they attend the same school as our kids. We have a child in kindergarten and preschool and are so happy we found the perfect place for them to grow, thrive, be happy and excel.

Our daughter just completed her third year at Summit School of Ahwatukee, after transferring from another school. She is absolutely thriving. She is excited about telling me about her day when she jumps in the car at pick up. She blows kisses at the school when we drive by. She is deeply engaged in her homework and project assignments - many of which require her focus, creativity and humor. She has been getting straight A's along with several A+'s since she began attending Summit . As one of her teachers noted, she is one of the most driven students she has ever worked with. Our daughter is now in an environment that is able to foster her intelligence, creativity and drive. During her time at Summit our daughter has regained her confidence, her excitement toward learning, and her drive to excel. Summit has given us back our child. This special learning community is a rare find in schools today. The supportive "family" atmosphere is wonderful for our children, and everyday they are challenged to do their very best. Small class sizes, excellent teachers, special classes, and emphasis on developing citizens of high character are just a few of the things that make this a top-notch school!

As a former Kindergarten teacher and now a Full-Time faculty and Administrator in Higher Education, I was very "picky" in looking for a school to send my children to. From the moment I toured Summit School, I was impressed. The classrooms are rich with resources, the teachers are caring and committed to educating the students. Our oldest son attended preschool this year and we have been amazed by all of the wonderful things he has learned and experienced. Next year, he will be attending Kindergarten and we are so excited for his experience at Summit to continue, as well as our second son's experience at Preschool to begin. I highly recommend Summit School to anyone looking for an all around quality education plus so much more!

Having worked for the last 10 years in Arizona as a teacher, I feel that I can fairly judge the merits of an educational program and I feel Summit is top notch. We have been nothing but impressed by Summit's small student-to-teacher ratio, the genuine caring and support of the teachers, and an academic program that challenges children to learn new things while still building their self-esteem. Our son has grown in leaps and bounds this year and the great program at Summit is a huge part of that growth. My wife and I genuinely believe that an investment in the education of children will pay dividends throughout their lives which is why I am pleased to give my highest possible recommendation on behalf of the school.

This is my daughter s first year at Summit after moving her from an excelling public school. I chose Summit as they have a reputation for providing an outstanding education through individualized education, small class sizes, and an incredible amount of specials. What I wasn t expecting was the dedication of the teachers, families, and administration in making each child s school experience an incredible one. This involvement produces an environment that is encouraging, safe, and allows the students to be themselves and confidently meet any challenge. I am so grateful to have found Summit for what it is providing and will provide for my daughter.

Field trips are one of the many many things I love about Summit . That teachers have the freedom to follow their amazing instincts and create all kinds of outings for our children is very special. I had no idea in joining the Summit community how much a part of school life field trips could be. From Pali Mountain to Starbucks, from penpal visits to Washington DC they are a wonderful way for the kids to grow and expand their in-class education and social skills.

My two younger children have been at Summit for two and a half years, and I regret that my oldest child never had the opportunity. What a great school! The Elementary curriculmn provides students with a rock solid foundation in an innovative, challenging, yet, fun environment. The Middle School, then builds upon that foundation to create lifelong learners who are well prepared for High School, College and beyond. The Teachers and Administrators are exceptional! They are invested in the students and the Summit community. My children feel respected, valued and truly cared about.

We joined the Summit School community in the fall of 2009, in the preschool. The school truly is more than just a school - it is a community of like minded families who believe in both the value and power of education, as well as the importance of imparting strong positive messages for children in an environment that emphasizes personal responsibility and personal best achievement. We strongly feel that the education that the children receive is exceptional and unparalleled in our community. The school has set up a system to work to individualize education, as much as possible, and provide each child with the unique teaching emphasis that the child needs. Although we feel that the environment is more important than the results, we also feel that our daughter is achieving unexpected accomplishments in all areas of her basic and creative education. We are regularly astonished at how much she already knows, analyzes, and questions, at her early age. We cannot speak highly enough of this wonderful school and community.

Two of my children graduated from Summit School of Ahwatukee. What a gift it was to them. They were so prepared for high school, and are excelling in honors level courses. Beyond the academics, which are remarkable, they graduated with a strong sense of self, confidence in themselves and their abilities, and respect for themselves and others. Teachers care so much for the students and they were instrumental in my children's emotional growth and confidence. Thank you Summit.

Our child just finished her 2nd year at Summit. We have been very happy with the experience. Teachers are dedicated and happy, and really care about the well-being and learing of children. We look forward to many more years at Summit.

I love Summit! I have 2 children who attend the school, my oldest has been there for 9 yrs. As many other parents have attested, I feel blessed to have my children go to school there. I can't say enough good things about Summit. The strong teaching staff is a big part of Summit's succes. The small classroom size allows my children to get the attention they need and gives the teachers the opportunity to really get to know each child. The academics are strong and give a great foundation to prepare students to go to the high school of their choice. In a time when so many schools have had to cut back on the arts, PE and 2nd language, Summit continues to put a strong emphasis on these areas. My children are excited to go to school every day and love their school. The school community is close knit which makes it comfortable for my kids to socialize with their classmates. Summit truly is a great place to educate/develop your child!

Our children have attended Summit School for five years. We feel very fortunate to have found such a wonderful school for our children. Our children are challenged academically and receive individualized attention. Summit has nurtured intellectual curiosity and a love of learning in them. Science education occurs in a lab beginning in kindergarten. Students receive quality music, PE, Spanish, and technology instruction, along with the core academic areas. The art education program is incredible and just won a national award. The teachers are talented and dedicated professionals. My children have made wonderful friends. Perhaps most important is that my children love going to school. They feel safe and cared for and fight me when I tell them they need to stay home sick. Summit School is a gift.

This is our first year at Summit. We feel very fortunate to belong to a school where each family and faculty member is genuinely engaged in the well-being of each child. Each morning our child is eager to go school and learn. We owe that to the phenomenal attention that Summit gives to our child every day. We are grateful that our child can blossom both academically and socially in a small sized class. It truly is a "home away from home."

My child attended another private school in the area for six years. I began to get concerned over the level of academic focus and looked at the local public school and Summit. After only a quarter at Summit, my child has blossomed academically. No early release, year round spanish multiple days a week, both language arts and literature and six sessions of math per week - all lend to a strong focus on education. Did I mention the excellent faculty? Choosing Summit was one of the best decisions I could have made for my childs education.

Summit has been an outstanding educational experience for my children from preschool to 8th grade. The small class sizes and low student-teacher ratios allow the instructors to know your child and his or her learning style on a very personal level. The curriculum is challenging, is theme-based and focuses on the whole child. The art, music and technology programs are unmatched. There is a very strong sense of community, and Summit families are deeply committed to their children's education. The school leadership continually evaluates the effectiveness of its programs and implements improvements based on the feedback of its parents and teachers. Overall an excellent school and a nurturing environment.

At Summit our two children are loved by their teachers. This has allowed them to thrive academically and socially. They have been challenged in the various curriculum areas which they have been exposed to. We have seen them bloom in many aspects. We feel that Summit is not only a school, but a community of families who all want the best for their children. You can see this in the amazing number of parents that are involved, whether in classroom volunteering, or in activities planned for students and their families. Summit is full of wonderful teachers who are talented and work hard to bring the best in all students. We are blessed to be part of such a wonderful community!

Where else can you find teachers that truly care about every child on campus, promote strong character, and foster leadership skills on a daily basis all while teaching a rigorous academic curriculum? Summit is awesome! I am so thankful my kids were there from preschool through 8th grade. It is an environment that allows kids to be who they really are. The teaching staff is exceptional with very little turnover. I especially thank God my kids were there through middle school. I believe it is Summit's reputation that helped get my kids into Xavier/Brophy. It's been exciting seeing the school grow and improve over each of the past 10 years. If you're looking for a superior education in a nurturing, personal environment, Summit is a no brainer. It's worth every penny and a tremendous gift to your child.

We have found the middle school at Summit to be exceptional. The school is small enough for the teachers to get to know each student and adapt to their learning/social style. We are amazed at the time and commitment that these teachers give towards each child. The middle school prepares the students for great success in high school. It is a very friendly school and the parent involvement shows the dedication and appreciation we all have towards the teachers. Having had one child that went through middle school and one that is in now, I can recommend the school to anyone that is looking for a wonderful middle school experience.

I feel as though we are part of a family at Summit. I highly recommend this school. We love it!!!

Teaching is inconsistent and varies highly with two classes per grade and only one teacher per class. Classes can have up to 18 students... a high teacher/student ratio for the price. There is also a lot of teacher turnover which disrupts the balance of the school. Many good teachers have left and the newer are inexperienced. Also, many subjects at the elementary level are taught in such a way that basic learning gets missed. Parents end up filling in these gaps way too often. Art and Spanish classes are exceptional, but many feel the science, music, tech and library have gone way downhill. Character building is addressed, but there is no follow through and therefore bullying type behavior is everywhere in almost every grade. Structure is lacking in many aspects from academic to social and the leadership is wishy-washy which leaves parents to their own devises.

I have three children who attend Summit. We have been there for over 6 years and have loved every minute of it. My oldest started in the Preschool and this is why we have stayed at Summit. Our Preschool experience was one that cannot be surpassed. Summit School of Ahwatukee Preschool gave my children the foundation needed to succeed in elementary school. They learned at an advanced level, were nurtured and loved by their teachers and were given the wonderful learning opportunities that children deserve. How special it was to see my children 'happily running' into the preschool to be greeted by the open arms of the preschool director and her staff! My children are now in the elementary setting and are incredibly successful because of the foundation the Preschool provided them. I have never questioned my choice to send them to Summit!

Great preschool and K-8! Our kids have thrived in the preschool and elementary grades. Summit offers a creative curriculum in preschool which allows the kids to pursue their interests while developing skills. The program integrates play time and kindergarten readiness seamlessly. Our kids learned early reading skills, writing, and early math skills through hands on activities. They spent time building, talking about what they built, and writing about it. When a class was interested in a certain topic such as space, oceans, or animals, the teachers planned activities to allow students to learn more about the topic. The art program is amazing. Our older child was able to read simple words when entering kindergarten and quickly started reading chapter books about halfway through the year. The progression from learning to read to reading to learn was quick. Parent involvement has built a strong sense of community among Summit families and faculty.

The school is truly a community of students, parents, and teachers working together to create the best education possible.

Our child went to Summit school for one year and attended preschool, There are many positives aspects about this school, namely character building, art and language and excellent and friendly teachers. We found that at an academic level, this school was sorely lacking. Even at a preschool level, we would have expected at least some attempt to teach the kids in a consistent fashion. There used to be some attempt at teaching kids some letters and numbers but nothing consistent. We were amazed to see some 6 year old kids in this school moving to kindergarten who couldn't tell the sounds of letters. Another thing that bothered us about this school was their continual focus on fundraising and volunteering inspite of being a private school with relatively high fees. Due to these reasons, we decided to pull our child out and found another private school.

Summit's teachers and entire staff have helped extend the love for learning in my daughter! The teachers love teaching, and the students love learning! I could not choose a specific teacher, I love them all! We switched schools the day after my daughter did her trial day! My daughter fit in on day 1 as if she had been there forever! The low ratios are unmatched in Ahwatukee! Mrs. Klein is incredible for K, and Mrs. Angelakis the literacy teacher is fabulous. My daughter loves ALL of her teachers. The ongoing versatility she receives in art, music, science, and technology along with the personalized intensive level of reading, math, and creative writing instruction makes Summit have the full package! The parent involvement and volunteering is incredible. Principal O'Brien is caring, listens and is very active daily at the school! Kathy Covert gave us an incredible welcome and truthful representation!

I love this school! I don't think there is anything comparable in the east valley/ahwatukee area. The academic curriculum is outstanding--challenging, interesting and dynamic. The classes are small. The staff and teachers are highly qualified, experience and receptive. While the students perform amazingly well on standardized tests, the education and opportunities for students goes far beyond those tests in developing engaged learners and thinkers!

We have been a part of the Summit community for 5 years. We have three children at Summit and I feel like I found a little piece of heaven. My children are socially well adjusted, academically challenged and creatively inspired. Our specials programs include Spanish that is culturally stimulating, Science that is engaging and an Art program that is incredible! The student/teacher ratio is exceptionally low and the staff is second to none. We have some of the most caring and inspirational teachers that make my children want to learn. One of the most important aspects is the community itself. There are caring individuals that are involved and concerned about the education that their children are receiving. When you have teachers that love your children and parents that care, you have a combination that can't be beat!

My family has been part of the Summit School of Ahwatukee since 2000-2001. My oldest son started Summit School as a preschooler. From the first day walking into Summit School, even as preschool parents, I knew we found the school for our children through middle school. It was a delight to know that our children could start as preschoolers and graduate as well rounded eight graders. Both of our boys attend Summit School and love it. The community of staff, teachers and parents is the best in all of Arizona. The academic programs are rigorous and well rounded. If you are looking for a school that will prepare your children for high school and college success, Summit School is the school for you. The science and art programs of Summit School equal that of the local high schools. Summit School of Ahwatukee builds academic excellence and lifetime success.

When it was time for Kindergarten we read reviews on this website and we visited over 10 private schools in Phoenix (from Rancho Solano, PCDS, Tesseract, et al.). Summit stole the show. Two things got our attention. The kids were happy and the parents were visibly involved. The mood of the school was night and day from some of the others that we visited. Summit is governed by a non-profit board that consists entirely of parents and staff (quite a few staff have their own kids attending Summit as well). The school library is entirely run by parents and volunteers. Parents are even invited to volunteer within the classrooms. Our son is now in 2nd grade and fits in comfortable with his peers and feels love and respect from his teachers. Exactly the outcome we were looking for. If you are considering private, take a tour and you will see the difference immediately.

The Arizona Republic reported that Summit is one of the top schools in the state for AIMS testing, Arizona state standards tests. The advanced curriculum is supported by very low student teacher ratios. A master's degreed reading specialist works in every class K-5th, along with the two classroom teachers, providing reading groups of 3 - 5 students with one teacher. Pre-school through 8th grade have full curriculums, including art classes based on architecture and design principals, music - insturmentation, vocals & theory and a full Spanish language classes.

I am a seventh grade student here at summit school and I have been attending this school since first grade. I Love this school and I believe it has helped me to excell in all areas of learning. The art program is amazing and the music program is Phenomanal! The only downside id that there are really high expectations at this school, and if you don't meet them, then you are not good enough. I personally struggle with the math here at this school and think that the school should have more than two math classes for eighth grade. I have loved this school for a long time, But due to overwhelmingly high math expectations, i am leaving for 8th grade. Summit Rules though!

Class sizes of 13 - 16 students and incredible, highly trained teachers are paired with an advanced, hands on based curriculum, making this an educational gift to children and parents who attend. Summit provides exceptional programs in Spanish, art & music for pre-school - 8th grade. Grade school science is taught by hands-on, lab experience that our generation didn't see until high school. Language arts and literature studies classes are 1 - 2 years ahead of my experience with local public schools, giving children incredible comprehension, analytical and writing skills. Social studies & math classes also focus on hands on learning which enable children to truly learn and understand subject matter versus temporarily memorizing information. Parental involvement is extraordinary. The school also focuses strongly on students' positive character development. Library studies, comprehensive technology classes & PE for all grades round out students physical, social and educational development. Summit is exceptional!

From day one, we were convinced that Summit provided the academic environment, social opportunities, and varied experiences in which we wanted our children to be involved. But we had to sell the kids. We came for the trial day and the kids were eagerly welcomed by name and enthusiastically assimilated into their particular classes. Expectations and guidelines for the events of the day were well explained and very organized. There was an air of organized busyness about the building. The classrooms were full of happy kids and happy staff. There was no idle chit chat or aimless wanderings. Everyone was engaged. I felt as light as feather as I left them there to play. When I came to get them I was greeted by 2 happy kids eager to tell me about the day. Summit's level of professionalism, personal commitment, knowledge base, and creativity is to be commended.

I have two children who are going to Summit for the past 5 years. I feel that the academic curriculum is very strong, including the Math and Science programs. The Math counts program initiated by Mrs. weiner has catapulted my 8th grade daughter's Math skills to heights that are unimaginable. She is 3 years ahead of her peers in the public school system. The sports program has evolved as well. Mr. Cordova who is the Spanish teacher par excellence is also the coach of the new soccer team that has not lost a game since its inception! The music program of the school can be best appreciated by attending the Spring and Fall concerts where the children perform whence the performances are nothing short of professional level. Ethnic diversity is now clearly visible on the campus as well. Definitely worth the money.

My Son attended Summit from its inception. He started as a Kindergartner. I was concerned that the small class size and the individual attention he received at Summit would eventually be a problem when he started public High School. He graduated last May and I am pleasantly surprised at the quality education I now know he received. He is doing exceptional in High School and is in many classes with kids 2 years older. The teachers at Summit are exceptional and keep the kids on the learning track. The school is small enough to keep that 'we are a family appeal' and has good parent participation. The Art, Science, Literature, Math and Spanish departments are first rate. Inappropriate behavior is dealt with properly and believe it or not student respect is alive and well at this institution.

Art and music program is second to none, but they are the only 'out of the ordinary' programs. Well behaved students for the most part.

As a Summit teacher and a parent of two Summit students, I am very pleased with the teachers, curriculum, academic rigor, high expectations, and the overall concern of the well-being of my children. I choose Summit because I am able to put my philosophy into practice. I can address individual needs and not allow any child to get lost in my classroom. That is worth more to me than any amount of money. Summit teachers are concerned about students and their families. They are willing to stick out their neck for what is right, time and again. Thank you, Colleen Rhodes

Overpriced, mainly awful teachers, the only really good classes are Art, Language Arts, Literature, and Math. Really rethink when you want to go to Summit. The administrators have their way or the highway.

Summit is outstanding! We have been very pleased with the teachers, activities, leadership, parent involvement, communication, etc. The caring attitude about each and every student is incredible. The outstanding test scores prove that the curriculum is strong. The middle school is the best!

Our one son has gone to Summit for two years. I feel it does cater to the bright average student, giving them all different types of modalities for learning. Volunteerings is highly recommended and it helps you keep tabs on everyday happenings so your child will never have the opportunity to fall thru the cracks like public school. Our younger boy left public school mid year and has enjoyed himself so, he is looking forward to second grade and all that it has to offer. Overall, I would highly recommend Summit. the leadership has very high standards and as parents we only want the best and we get that at Summitt.

It is a slightly better-than-average school. The curriculum is relatively innovative; especially its 'specials' and the 'morning meetings' which help even the youngest children learn to speak publicly. However, the actual academic classes are only average. They teach the average children relatively well. But they don't serve the slower kids or advanced kids as well.

Our child has been attending Summit School of Ahwatukee for two years. It is a fabulous school. Parent involvement is high, the student teacher ratio is not more than 1 to 12. Most teachers have their Masters and all seem to be concerned with individualized education plans. I would recommend without reservation this school to everyone.
