Bernard Black School is a GREAT school. The whole staff is working harder than ever to make sure the children are being well educated. They have before & after school programs and activities for the kids. I see that parents are more involved and are always welcome. I am very impressed with the turn around of the school in the last couple of years. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!
My two children go to school at Benard Black Elementary school. The teachers they have are wonderful and caring. The staff has been very amazing with my children. They went out of their way to make me comfortable bringing my kids to Kinder.

I am the same parent that reviewed on December 9th, 2009. While I still think Mrs. K was WONDERFUL, I am no longer impressed with this school. They have had a change in leadership, who provides NO followup - even in the most dire of circumstances. I pulled my youngest daughter from this school and she now attends EAGLE, we love it there. My older daughter is completing this year and then will be leaving the district as well. Overall, very dissapointed with this school, despite the fact that there are several very dedicated and caring staff members. Unfortunately, they do not make up for the lack of leadership, communication, or overall quality of eduation being provided. Oh my word, don't even get me started on the food program - terrible.
I have had a very good experience so far with Bernard Black. We moved from out of state to AZ, and the principal and assistant principal were so helpful in assisting to get my daughter settled in. Her teacher, Ms. Kelly, has been excellent and very proactive. Additionally, the support staff and PTA leaders are very friendly and knowledgable. So far, I am pleasantly surprised by my experience with Bernard Black.
The principal is great at this school. She listens to teachers and parents. I also like that she is upfront with what she can do and never tries to over promise and under deliver. With some more time, this school will be excelling! Great job!
This school needs much improvement, the teachers did not care much about their students, principal was never around, there was not enough supervision before or after school, the student/teacher ratio was high. I pulled out my child from this school.
So much improvement, it's unbelievable how far this school has come! The results of their efforts are coming in positive!
The programs for children with special needs are lacking. Also the quality of teachers is just plain poor. I wonder are these people working at the school for a paycheck or to mold future minds and leaders of our society? Parents would be more likely to step up if the school got thier act together and stopped wasting everyones time.
There are a few strong teachers, but can't carry load of others. No support from district ( not surprising ) Very minimal parent involvement, and many disciplinary issues with students. It is very frustrating trying to communicate with principal and Roosevelt District. They are always looking into or studying something, hardly ever any action.
