Wow!!! I wanted to like this school but the low test scores, and ratings, and even worse the comments. From the outside it looks like a school I want my kid to be in but the staff should be ashamed of there performance. Looks like my kids are way better off at RIVERBEND PREP, sorry I tried to give this school a good looking but just wow!
I am a student at this school. IT SUCKS. I get bullied all the time. They think that just because I am white/Mexican all of the African American children can pick on me. It isn't fair. We are not even aloud to use the restroom in between classes. They would rather have us miss precious class time, using the restroom. Ugh, this school really needs to change..
Kings Ridge School is a good school, the school has come a very long way compared to how it was when my son was attending about 6 years ago. The huge difference came about after a few concerned parents volunteered their services as well as when the new principals, Ms. Elliott who has been at Kings Ridge since before my daughter started attending for the past 3 years or so and Ms. Soto who was at Riverside along with their staff all helped change a lot of things at both schools. Of course there is always room for improvement and we are not always going to agree upon everything that is said or done. But how about reaching a common ground and staying focused on that which is most important. The teachers in which my daughter has had while attending Kings Ridge do seem to care. This wasn t my 1st choice of school to attend, but my daughter really loves this school, she loves school period. More involvement is needed. Parent involvement does not consist of bad mouthing your child s school. The differences can continue to be made by working together, everyone successfully doing their much needed parts. Starting at home first, we all are teachers to our children, so be sure to be the best.
When a child tells anyone to shut up, they should be disciplined. However, following the school districts guidelines, the punishment was way too severe. According to the school guidelines, a child who were to bring alcohol on campus or come to school drunk would get a punishment with half the severity. That is where the district failed in this circumstance. It has absolutely nothing to do with a lack of discipline at home. So before you throw out those accusations, how about comprehend what the comment you are referring to is really about. It's about the amount of punishment given for the offense committed. It's like two people getting speeding tickets for the first time going the same amount of speed over. One gets slapped with a fine and moves on their way while the other gets arrested and thrown in jail for a month. A lesson would be learned in both circumstances because they did something wrong. However, the severity of the punishment for the 2nd one was over the top and now it will affect their life by losing out on income for a month. So basically, I'm all for punishing a child that does wrong, but the severity should equal the crime. In this case, it did not.
HELLO! NOT KINGS RIDGE NOR ANY OTHER SCHOOL IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE WRONG ACTIONS OF ITS STUDENTS WHOM ARE OUR KIDS. DISCIPLINE SHOULD BE OUR TOP PRIORITY PRIVATELY DONE IN OUR HOMES, WHENEVER, HOWEVER, BUT DONE FAIRLY. WHY NOT CONTINUE TO HELP MAKE EVERYONE THAT IS INVOLVED IN THE PURSUIT OF YOUR CHILDS EDUCATION, JOB LESS COMPLICATED & WITHOUT STRESS. DOES YOUR CHILD FULLY UNDERSTAND WHY THEY ATTEND SCHOOL & ALL THAT IS REQUIRED OF THEM WHILE ATTENDING THEIR SCHOOL? ARE YOU REMINDING THEM OF THIS OFTEN? LACK OF DISCIPLINE AND CONCERN IS COMING FROM WHO? WHEN YOUR SCHOOL DOES DECIDE TO TAKE FAIR DISCIPLINE ACTION TOWARDS THE MISCONDUCT OF A STUDENT THAT HAS INTERUPTED A CLASSROOM OR THE ENTIRE SCHOOL, THE SCHOOLS DISCIPLINARY ACTION IS TOO SEVERE? THE SCHOOL IS BEING UNFAIR OR IS TOO STRICT? BE IN MIND THAT THE SCHOOL HAS TO LOOK OUT FOR THE WELL BEING OF THE WHOLE ENTIRE SCHOOL, EVEN WHEN ONE STUDENT IS MISBEHAVING. WHICH IS ALL APART OF MAKING SURE A SAFE IMPACT IS BEING MADE ON THE LIVES OF MANY INNOCENT CHILDREN. STAY ON ONE ACCORD FOR ALL THE GOOD, IT WILL LEAVE A BETTER MARK AFFECT. REMEMBER TO KEEP THE FOCUS, LOOK UP, NEVER LOOSE HOPE AND ALSO HAVE A GREAT DAY!
The principal Miss Elliott is more concerned about discipline than educating students. I believe she doesn't care about kids well being. She forgets that students are there for education. Sometimes a child will get in trouble and she should discipline them. If a child has had no prior incidents, calling a parent saying a child is suspended for 9 days outer school and 9 days inner school for telling her to shut up is way too much. That kind of trouble will affect the education of the child. Acting like you are doing me a favor dropping it to 5 days outer school and 4 days inner school doesn't make it any less excessive. What good is a principal if she doesn't know how to properly discipline a child?
I have had no trouble with this school. I'm so glad the teacher and principle stay on the kids about there cloths and hair. Thats a good thing. The homework is very much needed and my son gets plenty of it. The believe there should be more communication of what the kids need to finish on a daily bases as I feel I'm out of the look on that piece of it. I wouldn't mind a text or email about what is due tomorrow or by the end of the week so I'm in the know. Otherwise good job Kings Ridge. This is my son second year and I'm liking it. It's almost as good as Nevitt....almost.
Do not ever send your child to this school. This school is filled with lil' gangsters and seems to have drug problems every year. Stay away from this school if you really love your child.
This school is much more concerned about what the students are wearing (a white stripe on a blue jacket was not allowed) and how students hair is cut - opposed to actually teaching students. Very little homework and assignments are handed out. Teachers do not hand back homework, assignments or tests taken in class. Students do not know how they are doing in class. Classes are often changed and when a teacher has a leave of absence, the class is just "changed into study hall" instead of finding an adequate substitute for spanish. No communicatoin is sent home to parents, when you call the school you are treated as if its inconvieneient. Left notes, messages at front and voicemails for a teacher who wouldnt call back for 2 weeks. This school has very poor communication and should focus more on academics.
I love this school when the principal is around, other wise is like the students run the school. the first year msElliot was always on campus and it was great. the second year she seemed to be away alot, and who ever was in charge was invisible.
