A.L.T.S has a higher starndard of learning, dress and expectation at the same time being a place where my son loves to be Monday -Friday.
ALTS has wonderful parent involvement. This creates a positive atmosphere and leads to the success of the students.
Its boring for the kids and everyone HATES the dresscode and many of the teachers. me and i didnt like this scholl... WHATSOEVER so if you are reading this DONT GO THERE I mean dont get me wrong the kids are all wonderful and its easy to make friends... but your child wont like it unless they are a little goody goody :P
i am a goning to be eigth grader at this school and i will say i kinda love this school. the academics are good and SOME teachers are good. The school focuses too much on on dress code and i got to say i learned more in 6th grade then i did in 7th grade because in my 7th grad year the principal and teachers focused more on the dress code. I think some things are good about the dress code that keep us looking modest but some things have gone too far. Like i have a hard time finding jeans because of the new "tight jean" rule they call very pair of jeans you own tight and they want them baggy on you. The day of the made the rule, most of the junior high kids were in In School Suspension because there jeans were called "tight"
I absolutely love everything this school represents. I have seen a huge improvement in my children since they started attending ALTS!
As a parent of an ALT middle school student, I am very pleased with what ALTS has established. We appreciate the staff and principal's dedication to the 4 cornerstones and we rely on their enforcement. One thing I do like about the principal is she is a flexible thinker and understands children of all ages. She sometimes has to hold firm and other parents may not like it, but it is her job. The teachers are very dedicated and willing to do anything to help students. There are a few teachers who do not relate nicely to children, but the principal seems to be up on everything and changes have been made. I love this school except those parents who are always complaining that the dress code isn't enforced 100% everyday. Nothing is 100% enforced, you try your best and ALTS does a great job.
I have had all 3 of my children attend ALTS because of their high academic standards. I also have had all 3 of my children "kicked out" of their school. It is ridiculous to me that the kids are not treated as kids, but more like a military!! My youngest child is 1 whole year ahead because of this school, which is great, however, at 7 yrs old she is also less mature than the other kids in her class. She has been bored and has received several detentions. Rather than testing her to see if she needs to advance again, they will not let her return do to excessive detentions. Don't they take into consideration that she might be acting out because of her age? NO, they just dismiss them like they are PROBLEMS! If your child is not perfect in every way, DO NOT send them here!!!
As a parent, I have found ALTS to be very upfront about their expectations. There are some parents who choose to bring their child to the school, but do not abide by the dress code, homework or grading expectations. The principal deals well with the parents and it is evident that she expects parents and teachers to show respect for children. She deals with numerous issues and I am glad she holds her own when it comes to unreasonable parent demands and strongly supports ALTS. Whenever I have wanted to talk to her, she makes herself readily available. This school is not for everyone, there is homework and if it isn't done on time, your child will receive a zero in jr. high. So responsibility is key and parent support is necessary.
I love love love this school. I have found if I have a problemt at all with anything I can go to the teachers as well as the principal. I am so glad we moved our kids to this school from the PV school district.
I have 2 children at ALTS. Our family is very pleased with our experience at ALTS. While no school is perfect, ALTS's back to basics and traditional values are almost impossible to find anywhere else unless you want to pay for a private school. They are strict and this enables the teachers to spend their time teaching instead of having to deal with unruly and disrespectful students all the time. The education is wonderful. My child can read on a 4th grade level coming out of K and 1st grade. My 7th/8th grader doesn't have to deal with the inappropriate behavior that is in so many middle schools across the valley. The work given to him is challenging. I can always count on his teachers for feedback in whatever areas I ask them about. They are always available to help should tutoring be needed. ALTS is a great school.
I was hopeful when we got the new Principal, Ms. Mayole. I soon found through dealings with the new principal, that she is very emotionally driven, which impedes productive results based on facts. My child's teacher made a poor choice at the beginning of the school year which adversely affected my child. We met with the principal more than once to dispel my child having anxiety and self esteem issues as a result of the choice the teacher made. The principal made empty promises and did not follow through . She lacks leadership ability and the example she is setting does not make a good role model. We have taken our child out of this school.
The principal is a horrible leader. You don't know when to approach her and if she doesn't get her way with students, she is not a nice person. I was so excited when the other principal left and Ms. Mayole became the principal. It was great in the beginning and now it's not a great environment for my kids. I don't like how they are treated like they are in prison. They get in trouble for talking at lunch. For goodness sakes, it's lunch!!!!! I will be taking my children out of this school & put them into a better school which is excelling as well without the dictatorship! I would really think twice about putting your kids in this school. The academic work is great for my kids but the drama here with some of the lack of teachers doing there job is pathetic.
This school rocks! It is very educational and makes learning fun and exciting! It is the reason why I get up in the morning. It has an exceptional dress
Our family has been very happy at ALTS. As a new parent I have had several concerns and each time the principal has answered my questions completely. She took time to meet with me and my daughter's teacher . She also has emailed me, and has taken time to meet with me another time. Principal Mayole has been very approachable and friendly. Some omments I have read here than gave me concerns just havent happened in my experience. Very satisfied parent.
Abraham Lincoln Traditional School is exceptional. The only concern I have is the amount of homework that my third grader comes home with each night. Mandatory homework is one of the four cornerstones of the school and is one of the reasons ALTS continues to receive Excelling status year after year. However, my child is NEVER able to complete homework in the '30-60 minutes' stated on the responsibility sheet; it is more like an hour and a half to two hours to complete the homework assigned in four subjects. We have had many stressfull evenings as a result. I have been told that it will only get worse.
I have had to switch my son's schools 3 times since he was in Kindergarten. This is the best school I've found. They actually follow their stated philosphy and hold the children and parents to a higher standard. They take a lot of pride in their school and the children excel and feel proud of themselves. My son has grown acedemically since attending there. They do not tolerate bullying. I'm glad we found ALTS.
Moved children from nearby St. Jerome private Catholic school to ALTS a couple of years ago, and it was one of the best decisions I could have made. ALTS is focused on the basics, and this traditional focus has served us well. My children read and perform math well beyond grade level. Students are challenged academically, and they learn accountability for their work real quick (as do the parents...). I also really appreciate how accessible the teaching staff are to parents in discussing performance, needs, and progress.
