Security and police are part of EVERY school. Don't "pass by", stop in for a visit. Central has SOME excellent teachers, SOME fantastic counselors, SOME effective administrators, and SOME kids that attend but aren't REALLY students. Without parental involvement, there isn't much chance for some kids. Don't judge Central by its reputation from the last millennium. Don't blame the teachers for not controlling SOME bad behavior. Most teachers do their part, and most teachers care. The parents have the kids for 16+ years and the teachers have them for 50 minutes a day for a semester or two. I've NEVER felt unsafe on this campus. Thank you security and administration!!
Students are exposed to drugs and there are many fights! By what I've seen just passing by there's always lots of security and police due to the fights that are encountered!
I owe a great debt to Central High for providing me with the college quality instruction that eventually lead to a career in Hollywood with offices around the world. Had I not attended Central I would not have 14 Emmys on my bookcase.
Central High School is a great school and has made my kids future better. Thank you Central for all your hard work I don't think I could have done it without you.
As a student of Central High School for the past three years, I can say that Central is a great school. Central really does work to serve its diverse student body. For students looking for a challenge, there are Honors and AP classes where students score as well as those from 'higher performing' schools. As well, the large ELL staff is extremely dedicated in teaching the students we have from countries who have never heard an English word. Extracurricular activities are limited as the school is stunted financially. Sports have a difficult time recieving enough funding and parent involvement, yet the teams still routinely perform well. The principal, Chris Jones, is extremely involved and truly cares what happens to the students. Overall, I can say that I have had a great education at Central and truly feel prepared for college.
This is the best high school there are 36 languages spoken on this campus that make me proud to be a Bobcat CHS!!
I can't say enough good things about the new principal, Chris Jones. This is his second year as principal, and he has turned things around 100% from before. There are parent meetings twice a month now, and he has gotten rid of the violence on campus with a zero tolerance system. He genuinely cares about the students, and you can see him outside every morning and afternoon making sure the students are safe.
I have to honestly say that this high school is one of the best by far. My son has been going to Central all 4 years, he is now a senior. The staff is very helpful. Ms Turk is the most nicest person I have yet to meet. Thank you Central HS, you are #1. Sincerely Lillian Jordan
i am a graduate of central high school class of 2006 and i can say honestly that central high school is a good school. it provides its students with many opportunities and gives them the opportunity to expand their horizons. the teachers there are great and they are always willing to help as well as do what they can so you can graduate on time. i started there as a freshman and through out all four years i met very different people and experianced very different perspectives in life. though schools are always changing central as so far changed for the better but what realy needs to be changed is the food. though they are trying to be healthier they give its students no variety. overal im satisfied with my high school years at central high class of 06 baby
I have 2 teens that have gone to Central for the last 2yrs. I've had very positive experiences with the counselors, attendance ladies, nurse, coaches, Dr.Ennis and her staff as well as a couple of teachers. I must admit my disappointment in the principal as well as the police officer at the school as my teens and I have had 2 instances that needed their help and attention and although they seemed concerned at the initial time of the problem, neither of them followed thru with the actions that needed to occur and when I confronted the principal at the beginning of the year to see how things were coming along, she was very uncaring and I could tell that to her it was of no concern. I feel that had they followed thru it might make the school a better place for teens to be.
This is a really great school if you want to be surrounded by students who really care about others.
I am a freshmen at Central. In all honesty Central is, by far, the greatest school I have ever attended. All of my teachers got to know me and helped me in any way they could, wether they were helping solve problems with friends, or the class itself. Personally, I am not at all artistic, and don't care for sports, but I know people in these activities, and they are very good. Also, the speech team is amazing and I have made so many friends and gained skills from it. The level of parent involvment is amazingly high. I've gotten to know many parents, and they are all extremely involved with everything that has to do with the school. Central is, in my opinion, the greatest school, and I think it will be for a long time. Go Bobcats!
Central High School appears to offer a diverse group of course listings and extra curricular activities for the student that is seeking the best in global studies and languages. The courses are high quality and promote challenges for all students at all levels. Our student is enjoying his first year!
My son recently started at Central High School and he loves it! He came from a top tier middle school and finds the work challenging. He chose Central because it provides him a chance to expand his horizons and become acquainted with students from other backgrounds. We have been very pleased. Staff have been quick to correct any concerns quickly and very effectively. I have had very positive experiences with both administrators and teachers. We would recommend Central very highly! Try it- you'd like it!
I went to central and graduated in 2000. I liked the extracurricular activities, but central did not prepare me to attend a top-tier undergraduate school.
My daughter is a senior at Central. She likes the diversity and friendliness of the student body. The classes are very easy. The teachers seem to have low expectations so that more students can get passing grades. There seem to be mixed excellent and mediocre teachers at Central. Several times I've called the administration and the office staff for information and gotten the wrong or no information.
administrators and teachers seem to be more worried about putting in their 8 hours a day than actually taking an active part in the school.
