Great school provides great programs and all of them are excellent

The music teachers are simply PHENOMENAL - tons of energy, great ideas, they combine fun and learning for the kids in many innovative ways. Cholla STOMP is outstanding as is the Jazz Band. If you heard the Jazz Band play you'd think they were pros! The FLEX teachers put a lot of energy into that program. Math is as challenging as you need it to be. Foreign language (Spanish) could be much improved; set some standards for learning the language and take advantage of the many opportunities to use it around here.

Cholla Middle School has many things going for both the students and the teacers. As a grandparent, raising a grandchild in school, I see enthusiasm, fun, laughter, and a sense of community. I am very impressed with both the Principal and the Asst. Principal. The Office Staff has been wonderful, and the teachers in the Flex program are excellent. Keep up the good work!

This school is really making great improvements! The teachers there are terrific and it is in a well established, middle class neighboorhood. I love it.

The English Art dept is great. The athletic program needs help. The ladies in the office are very helpful and lots of money being put into the new cafeteria and new classrooms.

About the tests

In 2012-2013 Arizona used the Arizona Instrument to Measure Standards (AIMS) to test students in reading and mathematics in grades 3 through 8 and 10, writing in grades 5, 6, 7, and 10, and in science in grades 4, 8 and 10. GreatSchools' profiles currently show AIMS mathematics, reading and writing results. 2013 AIMS grade 10 results represent on-track 10th graders for the 2013 test year. AIMS is a standards-based test, which means that it measures how well students have mastered Arizona learning standards. Students must pass the grade 10 AIMS in order to graduate. The goal is for all students to meet or exceed state standards on the test.
