HONOR ROLL

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

My son went to this school last year and part of this year. He attended preschool last year, and we paid $315 dollars per month for him to go to school 2.5 hours per day. He did not learn his alphabet or numbers there (he learned more at home with me practicing), but he did learn to sit still and listen in class. This year, he began attending half-day (3.5 hours) kindergarten. He would come home exhausted from doing nothing except sitting and doing worksheets all morning. His class would do upwards of 10-12 worksheets, front and back, per day. No recess, no snack time, no play time, just worksheets. Some parents can handle this, but I want to see my son enjoying school, and that never happened while he was at Painted Rock.

As other parents, all I want is a best education for my kids and I strongly recommend Painted Rock for not only the higher level of education, but the most approachable principle that I have met. I am confident and trust that mine and others children are in best of hand. Mrs. McMillan, I want to thank you for being always there to listen to what parents concerns are and make the time to keep us on ease..... Even with most demanding job where you're needed for your staff, kids and parents I have always felt that you are very approachable. Thank you.

I am a parent of two, and my kids have attended Painted Rock since it began in 2012. I have been very happy with the education they have received, and would highly recommend this school to any parent looking for a back-to-basics, stable learning environment for their children. The staff is exemplary-they will not leave your student by the wayside-on the contrary, they will do everything possible to help your child succeed. My kids have participated in tutoring when it was needed-and the teachers stay in close contact via email, or phone calls when necessary. We have a great principal and vice-principal, who are very visible throughout the school day...even popping into classrooms to fill in, when needed. I have always felt like the administration was truly listening, and trying to figure any issues out that I have brought to them. This is a school with kids ranging from 4 years old, to 14....there WILL be issues that come up! But, they will not be swept under the rug. As well, the office staff is always very friendly and helpful, and the cafeteria staff knows the kids, and daily dish out hugs as well as good food! A great school indeed!

As a PRA parent I find the below comment to be blatant and over exaggerated. My daughter has been with PRA since they opened the doors in 2012. I am constantly amazed at how this school knows no boundaries, the students are challenged and being pushed- all of this I find to be a asset to my daughters future. It is refreshing to find a school that still values the "traditional foundations of learning" (ie, math facts, sounds, reading skills). I have found the staff to be 100% and I have never been more proud of what my daughters has accomplished in the past two years.

Getting ready for our family's 3rd year at PRA...my son is going into 4th grade, my daughter into 2nd grade, and my youngest is starting Kindergarten this year. Painted Rock has exceeded our expectations. I was unfamiliar with traditional curriculum, and after I was educated about it I admit I was a little apprehensive. Not sure my children would be able to keep up. Although the curriculum is rigorous, the teachers have been very intuitive and meet the individual needs of both of my kids. They have gotten stellar grades, and my youngest can't wait to start Kinder. I have recommended this school to many, and will continue to do so.

1st grade was our first and only year at this school and I can't even begin to tell how horrible it is. My son who is known for how well he behaves was getting red everyday. Sometimes for things as small as being excited to go outside for lunch time.We had to switch teachers because his first one wrote DID NOTHING in red big letters across his paper. When I asked her about it she started arguing with me in front of her class My son goes to speech therapy and when we had the only meeting we had his teacher was 20 min late and didn't apologize or give any reason why. The principle during this same meeting started scolding my son in the middle of the IEP meeting about being to emotional at the play ground the day before. It was very very inappropriate! As the year progressed I asked his home room teacher about how speech therapy was going and she replied idk that has nothing to do with me. I reply with can you please have the speech teacher call or email me so i know how he is doing. Not once not even now have I still not heard from the speech teacher. I wouldn't recommend this school to and enemy. Teachers and principle are the worst I have experienced.

We moved our children to this school since they were bored in their other school. My third grader is doing 4th grade math and my Sixth grader is learning more in All his subjects than before. They are challenged both by the curriculum, structure, and also the teachers. The teachers in both grades keep the students moving and as they progress in their learning so do the expectations in the classroom. I feel they are learning more now than they did last year. Great job PRA! Keep the students moving and challenged. We are required to help out at the school in some ways. I get constant emails from the students' primary teachers about how the kids are doing and where we can help them continue to improve. You get a great education for your children at this school, which shows the utmost care for the students and the teachers really care about the success of the students. The administration is very supportive of their teachers, the parents and always encourage parental participation.

Thus far, this school is not delivering on the promises made to the community. The academic standards are dreadful. My child did more advanced topics last year and will have to spend time over the summer taking classes so the child does not fall behind peers at more advanced schools. Before enrolling, we asked about accelerated classes. We were told the school standard is accelerated therefore they do not offer advanced classes. If this were true, it would be a great school. Thus far, most classes have been average to below average level. Additionally, the school's rigid policies and procedures in middle school hamper development and preparation for high school. If the school could provide the academics and environment to the level they promised, it would be a wonderful school. The teachers are dedicated and knowledgeable. Parents want to be involved. Unfortunately, parent involvement is hampered by school policies that reduce communication and fail to foster a cohesive school community. Until these issues are resolved, it is full of unrealized potential.

My experience with this school thus far has been excellent. I have a 5 yo,daughter, I just pulled her from a regular public kindergarten in which she was not doing well, emotionally or academically. I was scared, so worried about what to do, what can I do to ensure my daughter has every opportunity to be successful, confident. I started researching and came across Reid tradidtional. I didn't know if changing schools in the middle of the year was right. However my fears were calmed when I spoke with staff, we toured and were intorduced to the school. I knew that it was a good fit but was still nervous. My fears were again calmed when I meet my daughter's new teacher. She was everything you could hope for in a kindergarten teacher, kind, approachable, organized, it was a totally different feel from the teacher my daughter had before. The best part is that my daughter is excited about school. She was literally jumping up and down saying she had a great day. When I asked what her favorite part of her day was she told me "meeting my new teacher." I know there will be an adjustment period, but I know we will have the help, the tools and the support to get her where she needs to be.

We moved here in 2012 and were looking for some good school for my son and I am glad to have my son joined this school. The school had just opened that year and we had no second thought after meeting the school teachers, staff and the Principal and without a second thought joined it. My son is really enjoying the school and we are very happy on his progress so far. One of the best school for kids with good stress on academics, discipline and build strong character and instil values for the life. I am

The best thing about PRA is that the faculty and staff base decision on what is best for the children. We pride ourselves on having a safe and friendly learning environment, with high expectations for all. no exscuses!

Painted Rock is a great school to send your children. When the school advertises back to basics, that is exactly what students get. The curriculum is engaging and allows to students to think critically about the content being taught. Students practice writing every day, are taught cursive early on, and have monthly memory pieces that they must practice and recite out loud. There is no need to get acclimated to the Common Core standards; Painted Rock Academy is already using curriculum that aligns with the new teaching requirements.

Painted Rock Academy is a wonderful school. The teachers, administrators, and staff are all dedicated to giving the students the best quality education possible! They maintain high standards for all students, and they expect the students to work toward those standards. The teachers truly have a deep desire to see the students achieve academic excellence. The principal and vice principal work very well as a team. They strive to ensure that all students not only receive the best academic education but also the best character education. They and the staff have created a safe, academic, and nurturing environment in which all students have the opportunity to learn and to grow. I would definitely recommend Painted Rock Academy for your child's education.

Wow! We love this school! We enrolled our boys, grades 1 & 4, in Painted Rock because of the lack of education & care they were getting at their regular public school. Painted Rock is everything we hoped and more! They offer back to basics curriculum & focus heavily on EDUCATION! The rules are strict, the work is rigorous & that's how it should be. They do not tolerate bullying or bad behavior which was a problem at our other school. School should be taken very seriously & this school does that. They challenge kids the way they need to succeed.. They are VERY friendly, always helpful & make sure to get parents involved. The staff is always welcoming parents' questions and comments & they are very accommodating & involved with every student. They instill great core values & skills and they aren't afraid of the Pledge of Allegiance! If you want your children to get the education they deserve and need to succeed through college, then Painted Rock Academy is the place to go. PUBLIC SCHOOLS ARE FAILING & GETTING WORSE! So if you CARE about your kids' education & take it seriously, then get your kids to Painted Rock Academy! This school is AMAZING & your kids will be well protected!! :)

Painted Rock Academy is WONDERFUL! This school is a ray of sunshine in a world of otherwise dark failing public schools. The public school system is going under fast and each year they get worse! So Painted Rock Academy has given us hope for our kids to be educated properly and learn the values and skills they need to succeed and thrive! The staff is AMAZING! Our son loves his 4th grade teacher MRS. MAYES, she is great and always communicates with us parents. The staff is friendly and helpful and the rules are very strict (as they should be). School is supposed to be about education and Painted Rock is ALL about EDUCATION!! We love the strict rules with academics AND behavior because it instills that in our children with will help mold them into respectful young men & women. Our kids were getting poor education at their old public school & they were bullied almost DAILY but the Principal at that school NEVER did anything to help or stop it! At Painted Rock Academy we are confident that are children are safe from bullying or any other harmful situations & we are so glad that they are getting the education they need & deserve! Painted Rock Academy is the way to go to create success!

My children have flourished at Painted Rock Academy! The curriculum is challenging, the rules are strict, and the staff and principle are professional and always available. Parents are expected to volunteer 3+ hours per month and homework is given daily, so you should expect to be involved if you send your kids here!

We are in our second year at Painted Rock Academy and we are so excited! How many schools do you know that receive an A rating their first year? It happened here! The Core curriculum is exactly what our children need to achieve success on state testing and be educationally successful. Sports are beginning and our daughter is loving her teachers. The administration here is supportive of the students and families. Thank you Reid Traditional Schools for providing a school that fosters great learning.

We are extremely disappointed with this school Painted Rock Academy , this was the first time my child would be attending a charter school and instead of her being happy she would come home upset. There is no guidance at this school and they are very demanding. My child is sick with a cold because they refused to allow her to put on her hooded sweater, which she was not aware she couldn't wear. Than the lines to pick her up was ridiculous it took 25 minutes just to get to the front of the line. Children should be able to be themselves and not who the school wants them to be, if I wanted a boot camp for my child I would of just placed her in one from the get go. It's not what they make it to be, I like my child involved in sports and that is something this school lacks.

We enrolled our son here this year in fifth grade. Our son is very smart but has struggled in math for years. With the help of his teacher and a great curriculum he is now nearly exceeding the standards. His teacher kept us informed of his progress throughout the year, and often tutored him over her lunch hour. I am extremely proud of the progress he has made and I am very grateful to the wonderful staff at the school that ha helped him with this acomplishment! The administration here is wonderful! They are always asking how things are going, and showing a profound interest in each childs learning. I also would like to mention that my son has found great friends here as well! Each family I have met through the school is very learning oriented. We couldn't have found a better school for our two boys!! I would highly recommend PRA if you want your child to get a great education in a nurturing environment.

We are extremely Happy at Painted Rock Academy! Our Sons are receiving a top notch education. PRA provides exactly the type of education and Structured environment we want for our sons. The small class sizes, excellent and challenging curriculum, academic and behavior expectations and attention from teachers are helping to mold sons into a well-rounded young men. With all that they provide their students, it would allow my children to advance to a wonderful high school and further their education through college. We are committed to our sons education his academic success is very important to us. The community and atmosphere has been what we were looking for. The principal and Vice principal are amazing we had an issue with one of our sons recenty I was very pleased with the manner of suppor and help that we received from them. Some schools are great, but Painted Rock Academy is truly REMARKABLE! Teachers have been amazing my children have blossom this year!! Best desicion ever.

IMPRESSED! I am a mother of two and was seeking a charter school that follows a traditional curriculum. I did a great deal of research in the Phoenix area and because of the great reputation I found in REID Traditional Schools, I was excited about the prospect of becoming a part of their brand new campus, Painted Rock Academy. The teachers are caring and professional and both of my children are excited to come to school and learn. The facility and grounds are very clean. The front office staff are welcoming and helpful, and every time I have been on campus I never find administration in their office. They are always in the hallways and classrooms, and I have seen first hand how much they interact with their staff and students. I find both the principal and assistant principal to be very approachable. My children are being challenged, and I have seen great progress. You never would know that Painted Rock Academy was in their first year. I have recommended Painted Rock Academy to friends, and plan to continue to do so!

After being on the waitlist for some time at Valley Academy, we were very excited to find out this sister campus was opening and have our kids accepted. We have children in kindergarten and 4th grade here. First off, the academcs are above anything I've seen in our prior public school. We knew the expectations would be higher but the traditional concept is wonderful. Parent involvment is expected, as it should be. The teachers are always very responsive and are very caring. Safety is a major concern here, which is reassuring. The principal is wonderful. She is always visible and it's not uncommon to see her in the morning help direct traffic, assisting as needed, or stopping you to ask if you are happy with the school. The staff is friendly and helpful. The after-school program emphasizes cirriculum and they have various after school activities (i.e. sports, art, dance). We are very happy here and feel our children are getting the best education possible.

We are so happy we enrolled our son in this school. Our son has always struggled with math and we were concerned about his performance in this school because they have an advanced curriculum. Math did not come easy to him at the start of the year, but his teacher gave up her lunch hour in order to give him one on one instruction. Now he loves math and is always eager to come home and share with us all the new things he has learned! I can not believe how much he has improved in such a short time! Every staff member has always been polite and cheerful to me, when I am on campus. The teachers are friendly and helpful and I believe they truly care about students. My son always seems to get the help he needs and he is happy and excited about learning! The only thing lacking in this school is musical instruments for the students to play. I would highly recommend this school to parents because students get the support they need to be successful with a challanging curriculum. The school provides a safe orderly environment and a private school education without the tuition! I think it is a great place for kids to learn!

We are happy to have chosen this school for our children. This school offers challenging academics, great extra curriculum classes , including Spanish, in a clean safe environment. Our experience at this school has been the best that we can remember from any other schools any of our five children have attended. Teachers are caring, dedicated, encouraging and have high expectations. The administration has always been welcoming, helpful and very involved with students and parents. I really like how they will stop any parent and student and ask, "How are you?" "How is everything going"? That means a lot and shows their interest. Our children are hoping that sports will start soon. We think Painted Rock Academy is off to a great start. We are excited to be here!!

Well first of all I want to say we were super excited to have been excepted into this school for my daughters first grade year. Things seemed fine for awhile until she came home and told me that the students were not allowed to use the restroom except for during lunch and recess. If they asked to go they were told no and if it was an emergency then they were punished. So I spoke to the teacher and was told this was a school policy. I then went to the principal and was told this was not the case and she would speak to the teacher. I then received a nasty phone call from the teacher who was very rude and unprofessional. I was shut out of my daughters classroom never welcome to volunteer. Then the end all was when my daughters teacher did not even show up for school one day and her entire first grade class was left alone on the playground without a single staff member outside with them. I pulled my daughter from this school and placed her elsewhere. The principal is very in your face/ defensive about any issues you may have and the staff is mean and uncaring. If I could give this school 0 stars I would. Parents if considering this school I recommend you keep looking.

My son is a 7th grade student at Painted Rock Academy. We were a little reluctant to move him from his last school but we are so glad we did. He is so excited about his teachers and classes. While my son usually maintained average grades in school thus far, this is the first time I've seen him really engaged in learning and he seems proud of himself and he feels successful. I can't say enough about the staff and administration and how welcoming they have been to our family. I am confident that my son is getting a well rounded education with all the basics, plus arts, computers and even a foreign language. I highly recommend this school.
