There is a considerable initial expense buying books and uniforms as well as a book deposit. Then you have to provide transportation as well as lunches. When you fill out your application they will ask you for $1200. This is what they say it costs them to educate your child. If you don't pay they will send you letters through out the year asking you to "donate". This would be fine if they were upfront about it being a private school. They call them selves a charter school but are not really acting as one. The no pop culture thing is taken a bit far and you will find yourself searching for school and lunch supplies that have no reference to any. My son told me the children were afraid to discuss pop culture on the playground and policed by other fearful children and told it was not school appropriate when he tried.
Challenging curriculum, passionate staff and concerned parents make this school a wonderful environment for my children. Keeping this charter school small also allows the staff to know each and every student and take a personal interest in their success. Highly recommended.
