The above rating is what I, as a student, believes. I suppose the rating could be a 4 or 5 star...I do think that the school should show more support for their student and realize that they may be struggling. Explorer is a wonderful school, but I am not very happy with it sometimes.
Explorer MS of Technology, is a student-centered environment for 21st Century learners, offering unique exploratory electives and extra-curricular activities that meet the developmental needs of adolescents. Explorer offers innovative and challenging elective courses to meet a wide range of abilities, interests, and talents. Classes are available for gifted, special education, and ELL students. Explorer has a commitment to the Arts and offers band, chorus, orchestra, piano, visual arts, culinary arts, drama, and broadcasting. The school has a comprehensive anti-bullying program and trains students, staff, and parents. The PTO is an integral component of the school's success and encourages parents to get involved and join one of numerous subcommittees that support the school. The principal is willing to take anyone interested on a personal tour of the school, and encourages everyone to visit the school's website created by students in the Web Page Design and Digital Imaging class.
We're a bit less enthused than some of the others here. Mostly quite good faculty, but that's not the case across the board. Some years ago this school suffered from severe front office staff dissension, but that appears to have subsided. Nurse is great. One of our children had an entirely goofy honors teacher last year. Tried to be involved in PTO several years ago but it only did the one fund-raiser. So, mixed review.
We arranged a tour of this school and were treated wonderfully. We had to wait quite a while for a response, but when the principal finally had time, she spent it generously on us, giving us a comprehensive tour. We were very impressed and plan to open-enroll our son there.
My child loves Explorer Middle School. The teachers are fantastic and the principal and vice principal are great.
This is the best school ever. My child LOVES it here, and the staff is GREAT!
I currently go to Explorer Middle School in 8th grade and really appreciate what all the teachers and principle have done to make a better learning experience. As you know that Explorer is now the school of technology, by the Paradise Valley Unified School District(PVUSD). PVUSD has gave us the top technology to make this happen. And not only that it has been rewarded best school for anti bullying. Altogether, Explorer is an excellent school to attend and i highly recommend you to as a student.
My son has had a great experience at Explorer. He has always felt safe and comfortable - unlike a lot of jr. high experiences. Teachers have all been great!
The parent organization is willing to help in many ways but the principal will not let us do anything.
We came to Explorer part way thru the year and found the front office very kind and helpful. The registrar did not give a very good first impression. She was very matter of fact. Most of the staff has been good. My child's impression of his/her English teacher was that she was very lazy. Not a great comment for a parent to hear. There are good and bad. Hopefully a full year will give us a better feeling.
When attempting to work with two teachers at explorer middle school regarding my son's grades, they made extraordinary attempts to not meet with me. They could not explain to me why study materials were not available to him to bring home. He did have textbooks at home, but the teaching staff indicated they did not use the text, and the information was only available in class? When I asked for a meeting to discuss how he could study at home when the information was only available in class, they brushed aside my request. I am still working on the issue.
My son has thrived at Explorer-his teachers seem very caring and make learning very interesting which is what is needed at this age group. He has been an average student and now is a solid A/B student who loves school
My son attended Explorer, he moved for brief time to the Bay Area with his father. he returned after 5 months. This was during this last year in eighth grade. He realized how much support and that Explorer was a a great school after all. For a eighth grader who really does not like school, thats an accomplishment!!!
I have just recently enrolled both my daughters into Explorer Middle School. Taking them out of a school district they have been in for 7 years. Being the age that they are, I think we all know it was not an easy transition for any of us. Reluctant as they were, I would just like to say your school has made them feel right at home. The kids are very friendly and so are the teachers and staff. They tell me now they are glad they had to switch schools. Thank you very much!!!!
