Dear staff and students, Akimel is a semi good school there are some really funny kids! We have an amazing track team. Although out rivals beat us by 4 points in conference were still better!we have more students which gives us wider variety of kids to educate! On the other side we have a garden that is growing weeds if you call that plants then go back to kindergarten! we have half cut trash cans! there school is okay! the teachers yell and e-mail me when my kid goes to ISI and interrupt my work day... and half the time my kid does absolutely nothing wrong! My youngest child has gone here for 2 years and hates it but my oldest went here for 3 years and loved it, he wishes he could go back but for the pep assembly's at least 10 kids get in trouble for talking they are suppose to be PEPPY oh my gosh they are not doing anything bad!!!!!!!!!!!

THis school is unbeatable! THe moment I steped into Akimel, the whole feeling changes. I'm used to going to school after school but never actually found any that I like, but have no choice but to go. But this school is different I tell you readers! I am currently in 6 grade! Also, just so you readers know, my opinion would never change!

Akimel A-Al Middle School is a great school. The teacher's are very proactive. I think like any school, it depends on the child and their parents. The more the parent is involved, the more you will get out of the education they are providing. The administrations is there to help and willing to assist with issues. I have been very happy for three years. Great pick!

My son has a rigorous schedule, with all advanced classes, and 2 grade levels up in Math. Its a whole lot of homework, and no consideration for extra curricular activity. This concerns me as the social growth and development of children this age is crucial for an emotionally balanced young adult. network to continue through school with. I have requested a meeting with the administer 2 times, and then in person, all 3 times, I have yet to recieve even a return phone call. successful

This school is amazing. My child is currently being bussed from Maricopa and she loves it. Teachers are great and it seems her grades have gone up.

Some of the teachers do not offer poductive help to the students while others are amazing techers/mentors, and the majority are very fine teachers.

Akimel has some excellent and dedicated teachers. The quality of the academic programs is mediocre because teachers are focusing on discipline, etc. The quality of music, art and sports is very good. There is not enough challenge in the curriculum for gifted students. Many classes have too much note-taking and memorization without anything challenging or creative. The atmosphere is positive and supportive of students.

This school is a school that I can count on to get my daughter what she needs. However, I think they need more activities for the students.

I think the academic program is okay, for the most part. However, I think the weekly 'team building' exercises are a waste of valuable learning time and I would like to see it disbanded, especially in light of declining student test performance in some parameters.

This is overall a very good school. My expereince is that each 'pod' has a great combination of teachers. I wish that the school had a seperate program which gave more attention and could encourage involvement in extracurricular organizations and opportunities (ie Junior Achievement, Food Banks, National educational Contests-GeoBee etc., etc.,) The teachers do a great job with the extra time they have, but there are so many other opportunities for them to braoden their exposure to other educational opportunities and organizations.

After one full year (7th grade), we and our daughter couldn't be happier that she is returning here for 8th grade. We currently live out of boundary, but we wouldn't dare move her. Teachers are great, and the office staff is professional and helpful.

Akimel seems to be ahead of other schools in the district regading their goals to prepare kids for high school. It is more disciplined and offers a tougher curriculum. Homework assignements and projects are more in-depth and frequent. At times it has been difficult on our daughter (and us)but I know it will benefit her later.

About the tests

In 2011-2012 Arizona used the Arizona Instrument to Measure Standards (AIMS) to test students in reading and mathematics in grades 3 through 8 and 10, writing in grades 5, 6, 7, and 10, and in science in grades 4, 8 and 10. AIMS is a standards-based test, which means that it measures how well students have mastered Arizona learning standards. Students must pass the grade 10 AIMS in order to graduate. The goal is for all students to meet or exceed state standards on the test.
