Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

At first this school appears to offer a great program for its students. However, they do not operate the school as they originally told us. We thought it would be good for our daughter, who has a learning disability, because they offered a multi-sensory approach. In actuality, for grades 4-8 the majority of the classes are independent study. I would caution you to be very wary of the principal, who is also one of the teachers, as he will not listen to parents. The end of this past year was a very bad experience. This school is not what it appears so please be very cautious.

Patriot Academy is a wonderful school. The class sizes are small enough that every child gets the attention they need and they are also able to do more fun, hands on activities. I love that they ability group! I had a kindergartner in a public school that was not able to excel because he was being held back by other students' lack of knowledge. But when we moved to PA he was moved up a grade level and now is challenged instead of bored! They do two musicals a year at the Performing Arts Center and all of the kids are involved and the shows are wonderful! I think the most impressive thing about this school is that they have no tolerance for bad behavior. It is my opinion that in a learning environment kids should be able to conduct themselves properly. If they are not respectful of others (especially the teachers) it needs to be addressed and dealt with and this school does a great job of that! Because they are so small they are able to keep a close eye on the kids and I have had no problem at all with bullying. Is it the prettiest school? No. But if that's all you look for in a school, you are looking in the wrong place. The education here is first class.

I don't understand the ideas of the prinicpal. The old buildings look dirty. The treatment of the students and small children are unacceptable. I'm confused as to how it stays open?

In the spring of 2009 we were told by the public school our daughters were too young and there would br no exceptions. We were in a quandry. I bless the day we found the Patriot Academy. Not only did they enroll them at four but they had all day kindergarten. My daughters have excelled at this school. Not only can they spell and recognize several hundred words ... they are reading. They have been doing basic arithmetic for months. Their knowledge of science amazes me. They even took karate. Best of all ... the school instilled a love of learning. Reading and learning new words have become an obsession. My family loves this school. We highly recommend it. My family thanks and commends the principal, their K teacher, and the other staff for an outstanding job.

I am so glad that my daughter was denied entry into our local public school because she was 'too young' to attend. We would have never checked out charter schools otherwise. We were at first turned off by the facilities, but after meeting a few staff members, and observing classes, we decided to try it. I'm so glad we did. My daughter has attended for the past two years, and will continue this coming school year. We look forward to my younger child attending in the future. The only downside for us, so far, is the fact that the school stops at 8th grade. The teacher's challenge and push my child to do her best in all developmental areas. They also always make time to answer my questions and address any concerns I have. Keep up the great work!

We are so happy with Patriot Academy. Our two kids just finished their first year at this school. The progress they both made this year has been outstanding. The teachers we've known and the principal are caring and dedicated, easy to talk to, and quick to respond to questions or concerns. We have a son who is a very quick learner, and he has been allowed to work at his own pace and move ahead so he is constantly being challenged. After homeschooling for 2 years, our fear was that he would feel stifled at a tratditional school, get bored, and get into trouble. That has not happened. In fact, he was sad when the school year was over! It will be nice when the new buildings are finished, but our kids have done fine in the old buildings. We are looking forward to another successful year in '09-'10!

Truthfully this school is not up to my standards as a good parent. The old/re- worked on buildings look unsightly and dirty. The teachers punish the small children rather harsh and the principal will not ever agree or take seriously the thoughts and ideas of the parents.

Too much drama in this school! I would not recommend this school to anyone. The principal has his own ideas and will not listen to the parents. We had a very bad experience!

My daughter is in her second year here and we love the school. She started in kindergarten and now is in first. I find the teachers to be great and pleasant to speak with. My daughter is above grade level in math and is reading and spelling words well. Would definteley recommend school small class size more warm feeling with a smaller school environment and everyone knows everyone.

I moved my 7th grader to this school because I put my Kindergartner in this school. They are both doing wonderfully. Everyday, the Kindergartner teacher speaks to me and lets me know how my child's day was. My 7th grader brings home a progress report daily with her current grades for me to sign. I have never had a problem with the staff, and I think the smaller size of the classes and the school make it easy for them to know your children and your family. I appreciate the opportunity to send my kids to a school free of charge that puts education first.

My children have attended Patriot Academy for the past 3 years. Before attending Patriot Academy, both of my children were behind in Readning, Writing & Math. Now, both are reading two grade levels above and both are two grade levels above in math. The school has a strict but fair discipline policy and they enforce it and many of the parents are glad they enforce the policy as the school does not allow students to disrupt the learning environment. The Principal cares abut the students manages the school well on less funds than the district schools receive. Bravo!

I enrolled my daughter in 1st grade at Patriot Academy mid-year (Dec 2006). She had previously been homeschooled (I'm a former teacher). I have to say my hat's off to her teachers. Their genuine desire to help her learn not only the academics but the social skills required to become a healthy individual were exceptional. As an academic (I've taught both public and private as well as in the university)I am extremely impressed with Patriot's dedication to both instruction and discipline. I especially like the uniforms, it puts students in the frame of mind to learn. Because of small classes, teachers can assess the needs of each student individually, (my daughter tested into grade 2/3 for reading and math)and place them into that classroom. This is something only seen in the very best private schools--and this one has no tuition! We'll be back this year!

I had my children at Patriot Academy and was very dissapointed in the way they handel developmental and behaivoral problems. It seemed that when my child did not perform the same way the other children did she was labeled as 'dificult'. Both my kids are at a different school and are doing very well. All my kids needed was someone to see them as individuals and teach them in a way that suited thier needs. I don't feel Patriot Academy does this for thier students.

The concept of the school is great but the implementing is not.I believe this is due to poor principal leadership! Have you ever heard of a school were the principal is never around? This year they had a lot of disciplinary issues I believe it is due to the fact he is never there. I think this could be a great school if they had better management! And don't enroll your children there if they have learning/behavioral problems--they do not have the correct the staff to deal with children that have these issues!

When we first enrolled our children here we loved it. The teachers were excellent, and our kids seemed to excelling in all areas. Now, after a year and a half, we have decided to move our youngest to another school after our oldest leaves for high school. The principal's decisions are not open to discussion. I definitely don't feel he has the students' best interests at heart.

This school's bottom line is money. The best interest of your child is not a consideration with this school. My child received solid instruction and the test scores show that, however there is a problem with the principle and his decisions and therefore hurts this school.

'I too am a parent of a child enrolled at p.A. & I love that the classrooms are limited to 25 children. This guarantees individual attention & i believe that is extremely important (& wonderful). The before & after school care is fabulous (though i wish it started earlier) & my 4 1/2 year old knows the pledge!!! it's only been 1 month & i'm extremely impressed w/my child's newly found abilities, which include recognizing character traits, like respect. I also love the weekly updates that parents must acknowledge once a week. Keep up the great work miss wilda.

I am a parent @Patriot, and Anyone that has their children enrolled their are currently pleased. My kids are actually ahead. They are a small school, they do have PE and Music. They have had a rocky start, but I have no complaints, we are a family, The teachers are honest and up front. Some bad reviews have been writting , but the source needs to be taken in consideration. My advice is check it out for yourself, it is your childs education, not anyone elses.

Thay claim better academics, my kids were actually behind in academics, reading comprehention and math, they only focus on spelling, teachers want their spelling tests to be perfect all the time.

Coming from a public school system, my children have jumped up two grade levels. Yes, the extra curriculm is lacking but the academics, what counts, is superb! The small classroom size and the extra attention my children get is just what they need! There is great parent to teacher communication! If it is great now,in such a small building, can you imagine when they do build a school?! My hats off to the adminstration and staff! Keep up the great work in educating the leaders of tomorrow!

I am very impressed with the small classroom and individual attention each one of my children get a Patriot Academy. They have felt sucess in their individual efforts, bringing more confidence to them. The teachers have each been very supportive of questions or help my children in what they need to excel in. They enjoy school and are exceling in learning, I as a parent am very greatful for that.

It looks like each year it gets worse, they use to have a great music program, caracter education, and PE. Teachers disipline kids in a very insulting way, they make them feel lower, it feels like they are creating little robots, so be careful before you enroll get to know the teachers and interview them before you make a desicion.

The classroom size is small so everyone is crammed in there. I don't like the fact that there is usually no one at the front desk, so anybody can walk in there at any time and go into the classrooms.
