My kids have gone here since kindergarten. They are now on the middle school level!! Over the years they have had some amazing teachers and some not so great teachers. The front office is wonderful with handeling situations that have come up over the years!! They are quick to deal with things and I love that they are always open to talk about concerns!! I am happy to say the not so good teachers were not asked back for the following year!! They have many opportunities for the students to be involved!! My favorite thing is the small classroom sizes!! It is nice going to a school that has a small town feel to it!! All the teachers and staff know my kids and remember me as well!! Way to go Cambridge!!!
Let me start off with the positive. Great principal and vice principal! Always pleasant, great with the children and always willing to make the time to speak with you. The receptionist is very temperamental and seems to be very selective on who she will help. When she does answer the phone she is not pleasant. The couple of times that I have had to interact with her she made me feel that I was more of an inconvenience. I feel bad but I have to agree with the other posts. The great part is that the teachers are amazing and my kids love going to school. I am pleased with everything that they have been learning and feel that it is above all other schools in the area. The little things that they do really make you feel like a part of the school. I also taught so I am familiar with the level my children should be at. I love the fact that it is a small school and the fact that it is like a small town where every knows each other. This school does the very best with the resources it has but the main thing is that they have the children's best interest at heart. Only improvements I would like to see is maybe a better playground and instruction of musical instruments.Otherwise GREAT JOB.
Great school! Great sports and coaches!! Small class sizes!! Amazing teachers!!! Only problem is no security up front and always crazy and I would have to agree the woman at the front desk is ALWAYS TEXTING on her phone and can be rude. If the children have to leave their cell phones in their back packs, she should leave hers in her purse or drawer. Not a great representation or example.
+Excellent Teachers +Great Principal(s) +Great Curriculum +Great Community +Great Extra Curricular Programs +Decent Sports Program -Okay Funding -Okay Outside Equipment -Okay Arts Program -Terrible Transparency
We are very happy with this school and the quality of education our children are getting. Cambridge is small, but that's one of the things we like about it. Our children are truly loved by the entire staff! When we had them at another school in the area, they were just a number. I decided to write this review because it seems like the only people who write reviews are the negative people who complain wherever they go. No school is perfect, but what I have noticed about the principal at Cambridge is that she takes action to solve problems when they arise. I have seen poor teachers replaced mid-year. Other schools won't do this. They'll leave a horrible teacher in the classroom and make excuses for them. The teachers are great at Cambridge or they wouldn't be there. Along with all of these things, the curriculum, parent involvement, sports program, and all the other activities are fantastic! We are proud to be a part of Cambridge Academy!
This school has quickly become a joke. They put a family member in there as a science teacher. My child was sent home with a high school level packet for a science fair and absolutely no direction. The other teachers, especially Mrs. Neider and Mr. Robbins tried to help and we did appreciate that. Next the principal says don't worry about it and that the packet will be remade. Friday the teacher (if you can call her that) called my child lazy and told the class they weren't to listen to the principal. Friday night we get an email from the principal saying don't worry again. My child is hurt and confused. Up till now it was the teachers keeping us there. Honestly, we'll finish this year but we won't be back.
I love my children's teachers! Ms. Rentera is a great teacher, My son has done very well in her class. Love the education they are getting. They are always learning something new. I would have to agree with the last couple of comments about the lady at the front desk. She is not friendly unless you are her friend or she likes you. I hate to call the school for anything, she is rude and makes it seem like you are bothering her. I have come into the school and noone is at the front desk and there are children sitting up ther e all alone. I went to the school just the other day and noone was there. My children love music and PE. The principle and the assistant principle is helpful and very nice. My children are alwasy talking about them and when we come in they always give the assistant principle a hug and she always makes the time for them to say good morning and asks them how they are. I would recomend the school to anyone.
We had a horrible experience at this school!! My daughters teacher was very negative and the front desk staff were not helpful AT ALL. I agree that the lady at the front is not friendly. Their test scores also dropped dramatically. Save yourself the trouble and money in uniforms and send your child to a higher ranked and better school.
Cambridge Academy is not perfect, but the best decision I made was to have my child attend this school. My child has been here for 4 years now and loves it. All the teachers know who you are and actually care. We have had no issues with kids bullying. They have a new art teacher this year who is great and was needed. My child has been thriving here.
My son and daughter has been enrolled at Cambridge for almost one year now. I love the curriculum. It is challenging and my children are never bored. They love the PE program and cannot wait for art! The teachers are above amazing. We love Mr. Robbins! He truly is an amazing teacher with the right amount of balance of fairness and firmness. Wish there were more teachers like him! The principal is always available and is amazing with the students. She truly loves the students. The school is small but that is why I picked it. The only complaint I have is the security and the receptionist. I have come to the school on numerous occasions and there has been no one at the front desk and the door is not locked and children are sitting up there. I have also called and no one answers. When she does answer, she is rude. I have walked in and seen her around the corner from her desk on her cell phone. I have sat up front waiting for my children and watched her text the whole time. I worry about my children's safety with a women at the front desk that just does not care. Overall I feel that Cambridge is an excellent school. They just need to replace the woman up front.
The negative comments are always erased. Hmmmm. It makes you wonder why. Let parents speak their opinion, good or bad.
My children go to this school. The teachers are amazing! I love the education my children are getting at this school. There is such a balance with homework and their athletic program. The only problem I have is the receptionist. Every time I have called or stopped by the school she is not nice. If she is not crying she is just mean. She does not seem to know the answers to any questions nor is she willing to get out of her chair to find out. Otherwise a GREAT school!
I forgot to mention something in my earlier review. They are mostly geared towards AIMS testing. Once AIMS testing is over, it seems like the learning stops. They don't get any homework after AIMS.
I have never been to a more disorganized school in my life. We liked the fact that it is a small school. But small comes with a price. No library, no gym to escape the Arizona sun. Last time I checked the poor music teacher and gym coach were sharing a closet for an office. I'm not writing this review to bash on the school. there are a lot of charter schools out there. This one is LACKING
To the father of the 3rd grader. why do you feel it necessary to complain about the comments made by others? Are they not entitled to an opinion or are their opinions less valuable than your own? Here is the problem we had. They collected money for a year book early in school year last year. It was $45. At the close of the school year, they were not ready. The front office lady told us that they would be given out the first week of school. I waited and called then, they said they were never made so we could get your money back. My kids were very disappointed. They promised to send me a check. After two months of not receiving anything, she said that they would now be mailing out before Fall break. Being patient, in December I called again after not receiving anything. She said the her father had passed away and didn't get to it. Now they promised again by Christmas break. Very frustrated from having to call over and over, now I decide to call the principal, yet still have not received a call nor the money. They are having problems of some sort. Otherwise, good sports, smart boards and active parent involvement.
Part 2. Something else I noticed was the rating for the Principal. I was astonished to say the least! Principal Gonzalez (If I remember correctly), when I met her, was nothing but kind. My son continually says nothing but good things about her and she not even a teacher! From the school events I have attended when I could, Principal Gonzalez seemed very involved and dedicated to her job. I have been very happy with this school and believe the rating does not accurately represent the dedication and high level tier this school actually is. It is me and my sons first year here and I have been very pleased. He loves his teacher and I can say the same. Granted I hope they expand their arts program more. Im excited to get my little man involved in sports and even may of the other programs they have to offer. It is interesting that schools today are measured by their monetary value rather than their dedication to the students.
This school was a little below average for me. After 1 year I took my son out and sent him back to the Benjamin Franklin Charter. I didn't like the way the parents of other kids send home brochures or flyers for their businesses. Small school and crowded classrooms.
WAY TO GO CAP (Cambridge Academy Parents)! The fall carnival was so much fun and my family had a wonderful time. This was such a great event! What a way to bring our Cambridge Families together! This is another ADVANTAGE to being part of such a wonderful school. My kids love going to school here. Cambridge cares about it's students and their families. It has a small town feel and my kids are receiving a great education! Thank you for making it easier to send my children out into the world and know they are building confidence as well as getting a quality school experience!
This school is focused on prepping students for AIMS test. The school is too small, they put in a Portable Classroom when they should use the money to build a better school.Beware of this Charter School. When 80% of the teachers quit that should be a sign to tell you to find a different school.
I LOVE our school!!! We have the most AMAZING group of teachers who are dedicated and passionate about education! Our students are bright, strong, hard working future leaders! I'm proud to be a part of this incredible school community!
