Worst school I have ever been to. Horrible disciplinary actions, they treat every student as if they were a prisoner. Would not recommend to anybody.
By far the worst school I have ever been to. The school wastes so much money on things they do not need, such as monitors, cameras, and other useless gadgets that they say are helping to make the campus a "better place." The school should be concentrating on supplying books for the classes. Every classroom I have been into had worn and out-of-date books. The majority of students who graduate from this school will be unprepared for college. Besides the AP and honors course teachers, it seems as if the staff could care less about their students' education. Try to avoid going to this school.
My sons have had an amazing experience at Sahuarita High School. My oldest son is graduating and is off to Purdue. By the way Purdue only accepts 1 in 6 applicants ( who prepared my son for this challenge if not for Sahuarita teachers and staff). My younger son is in ROTC and doing very well although we have run in to two teachers this year that think grades are not that important and my son does since he wants to attend the Air Force Academy. Overall I think Sahuarita is much better than the schools my sons attended prior. Thank you Sahuarita High and let us continue to reach for excellence!
I have had nothing but problems with this school. I have been in the military for nearly 19 years and have done a lot of moving. My daughters have attended 8 different school districts (to include DODDS) and have always excelled. I have NEVER had to deal with a school like this one. Like other parents, I find that the school doesn't return calls/emails. I have to walk into that office if I want ANYTHING done. I get the "roll of the eyes", but I only speak to the principal or vice now about everything. Teachers enter grades into the automated system "at their leisure" and don't necessarily grade assignments until weeks after they're turned in/due! My daughter is choosing to go live with family members in another state to get away from this horrible school and I can't blame her. Thank you SHS for putting my family through so much stress and heart-ache. Thankfully, I will retire before my other daughter gets to high-school. Parents- You are the ONLY ones who can advocate for your children. The staff will not hear anything your student has to say. Be prepared to battle (give them about 3 chances before going to the superintendent, that's when they'll hear YOU). Avoid if possible!
This school basically fails on a scale of one to ten. i have been going to this school for 2 years and it hasnt gotten better.last year i tried to get ahead with summer school and my principal said NO. Wat kind of person doesnt want a student to get ahead in studies?! The "monitors" are a waste, and overall i have just had a bad experience there. our football team is 0-10! so if you are looking to excell in that area. you wont. but if you like easy work, pointless rules, and staff that really dont care i encourage you to go to sahuarita high school. Oh and this is why the kids are bad. cuz the school is horrible!
This school is really good, allthough it might not be the best one. I moved to this school from Puerto Rico knowing very little English. I learned English in two years and even though I still make mistakes I gotten a lot better. Also people has to be grateful, in Puerto Rico the school should get a -10 out of 10 (exept for the school of rich people); some of the public school had pests, absent teachers for months, the English horrible, no opportunities, very little electives (most schols 4-6), , no buses for transportationonly 1 option for food, and there was no clubs and only basketball and volleyball teams. I believe people is not grateful enought to realize what you have until you lose it. I present this by own experience. Before judging your school compare it to some place where people are not as lucky as you.
JUDGMENT! I moved here thinkin sahuarita schools were diffrent than outhers but i was wrong. Sahuarita judges based on looks because i went there trying to change my life and they judged me by my files and by the way i dressed and because me and anouther student were argueing because he had a problem i wasnt able to go to that school and i want to just graduate and become someone and this district would not allow me becuase they judged me if you were to see my file i am a pro amature boxer and i wus jus trying to make my parents proud!
My Grandson Has had Learning Disabilities since second grade. Sahuarita HS decided to 'Main Stream' him his Freshman year....he has gotten so far behind that he is now failing every class. My Daughter has been on them for months to retest him...she finally reminded them by law they have 60 days after her request to have him evaluated...they just don't care enough for their students.
Staff does not care about students, constant interruptions, raising taxes and spending it on fences and cameras, and lack of leadership
If there any possible was one could home school or have your child attend a different school please do so. The teachers do not care. I am a very involved parent, i contacted every adminitrator in the district and got no where! no one returned my phone calls and emails regarding my daughter until the last week of school! their suggestion.....Summer school at $350 a summer, when if they could have answered me in december perhaps she would not have failed the last half of the school year! no! no! run!
Let me begin by saying this school is beyond overcrowded. That being said, the school administration can't control what is happening on campus. Had it not been for my daughters honesty, I would have never known of all the awful things that happen on that campus. The assistant principals pretend to take an interest in any issues that arise, but quickly forget once the parent leaves. Academically the classes are to large, that the children aren't getting the proper instruction, and inappropriate behaviors are happening within the classrooms! For these reasons I made the decision to transfer my daughter to a different school. The best decision I've ever made!!
My daughter requeted to be removed from this school. She didnt like what she heard and saw on the school grounds or the way she was treated by other students. also had problems with one of the teachers taking the time to note a 'A' student now failing. The teacher claimed he/she didnt have the time to review all of the students. This school needs to focus more on the students
I would rate SHS as average. The curriculum is very weak. My child is enrolled mostly in honors courses has a 3.9 GPA, but is not being challenged, and has very little homework. A large percentage of parents and students in this community don't understand the importance of a good education. In the prior reviews, parents and students blame everything on the teachers and administration. The problem is the parents. Your child's education begins at home. Try directing some of your constructive criticism at yourselves.
Im a senior at this school, and i have been enrolled in this district since 8th grade. The school office staffs ignores everyone, the school principal staffs don't listen to both sides of the story. They always use 'Im the adult, im right you're wrong, im smart, you're dumb.' If you argue you get punished. As you can see my english skills aren't that good due to English teachers here. They're are lacking in EVERTHING. I want to transfer out of this school ASAP!
I have lots to complain about the administration. They do not see both sides of my childs story. Especially one of the assistant principles. Im not very happy with the school teachers, and they are only teaching the students how to pass the AIMS tests, not what they need to learn in high school. I would not suggest this school to anyone.
I am only a freshman at SHS. So far, I must say this school is an average school. Certaintly not the best I've heard, I feel great here. The classroom sizes are no more than twenty-five on average. I do have to complain about the administration. They do not see both sides of a student's story. Especially one of the assistant principles. But overall, I give this school three to four stars.
We moved here from out of state, and the things SHS is teaching my child in the 10th grade are things he'd already learned in the 6th grade back home. As far as Arizona schools go, I suppose SHS isn't bad, but, like all AZ schools, its severely lacking in anything and everything related to educating a child. If you enjoy police patrolling the hallways and students learning how to take AIMS tests, then SHS is for you.
