This school isn't all too good, the students here aren't being taught the way they should be...i think this anyway. Students who need help during class and need the help should actually get the help they need instead of the classic " do it yourself, figure it out ". They should at least get some help out of it. The teachers here are disrespectful towards students....and they wonder why students are disrespectful back. And they don't really say anything about bullying, they say they are a bully free school and if there is any bullying the bully would be expelled....they aren't doing a very good job about bullying. I personally don't like this school
Nothing to know about the score is at their special education department is in need of new EVERYTHING! They make excuses for every little reason why they can't accommodate. They refused to hire more people to assist with children in need of help. They refused to allow in outside help to counteract their lack of services. They do not properly educate the rest of the teachers as to the situation the student might be going through. They are so do not utilise advisement of the parent as to handle situations or any tools given to them
Mr. Darcangelo is supposed to be the new PE teacher at JO Combs Middle School in San Tan Valley Arizona. I found complaints about him when I typed his name and football coach to Google so my husband sent him a text. Mr. Darcangelo was upset and left messages until midnight on a Tuesday night. And when my husband couldn't call him until he was home from work Mr. Darcangelo sent a text message calling my husband a coward !!!!! Parents should be allowed to ask about complaints when they're about their children's teacher. It's not right for a teacher to call a parent a coward because he wants to ask the teacher's side of the story. Is he trying to hide something? We have a Christian home and name calling sets a bad example for our kids. I don't think I want Mr. D teaching our children Phys Ed or coaching them on football after this.
The teachers don't care about the students at all. Kids act like animals, disrespect the teachers, and somehow never get expelled or suspended for their actions. It is not a school environment here, more like a trashy daycare. They have poor ways of handling the behavior, by simply sending out a mis-behaving child out into another class room. This does not only disturb one class room, but the other. The front office people are especially rude, and will take their time with each and every tiny thing that they do, to assure that you are late for class. The problem at this school is the crazy children, that need a much better discipline routine. Horrible school. I dreaded every single day of going there. Do not send your kids here.
i like the teachers and education given here. most of the teachers are really nice, i do have to say im not a fan of the 7th grade language arts team, the teachers talk to students with no respect, and act like there dumb, there also snobby and stuck up. but besides that i felt that it was a very great school, the principal is very involved with making the students day fun, and taking into consideration any of complaints that students may have.
The school is under new administration this year and it has come a long, long way. The students are receiving far better discipline and education that in years past.
We are a small district and doing a great job. Our kids are safe and happy at school!
This school is the worst school ive ever put my daughter in I feel like the education they give is poor and there for the students dont give their best effort!
I feel, as many other parents out there do, that the school is lacking in discipline. My daughter tells me of fights on campus regularly and about unruly students in general. My interaction with administration concerning some issues has not been to my satisfaction. I have already enrolled my daughter in a different school for next year. I understand that the district is growing, however I will not let it be at my daughter's educational expense!
I like the school compared to the Public Schools in California which I would never put my kids in. What I don't like is the teachers will let kids slide through because they don't want the bother. No contact with the parents. Sad....
Okay. So I'm in the 8th grade. I recently moved here. and now my mother is going to drive me 30 min everyday just so I can go to a better school. DO NOT let your kids go here. It is a complete waist of time if you want an education.
The discipline policy at this school is useless. My daughter tells me that rotten kids hardly get into any real trouble at the school. Kids that want to be rowdy get away with it and referrals to the dean are harmless. One kid flipped off a teacher, it took almost a whole week before the kid was suspended for only one day. When I was a kid, you could get tossed out of school for something like that! So, if your kid is prone to getting into trouble and you are the kind of parent that does nothing about your child's bad behavior but blame teachers and administrators, J.O. Combs is the right place for you. Parents with bright kids that will do what they are supposed to will be frustrated with classes that get interrupted by rotten kids who don't care and administrators that the kids don't fear.
I just moved to Arizona with my youngest daughter since my older kids are at college. My other kids attended a school that was featured in Time magazine. At Combs, most students seem to be rude, lazy, smart-asses with no respect for education or their own futures. I can only imagine the kind of depraved adults that would raise a child who would contribute so little to society. The administration has done little to nothing to create a productive and effective learning environment for students who do care about not ending up serving french fries. If anything, the administration seems to hinder any effort on the teacher's part to assert the importance of learning. What is the point of taking time out class so a rotten monster can call home and brag about his antics? I would rather lose money on my house than ruin my child's future with this crappy
I feel that the school is a safe environment with a quality educational system. The teachers there are excellent at providing sustained information towards the students. I believe that the curriculum is expanding and the control over the students is well-contained.
This school needs to be revamped! I have had many problems with the school as far as teachers. We are moving because of the school system.
Wow, what an eye opener.Regretfully, I had to change my daughter's school because of our move.Because we are new to the school I can't fairly grade on all levels as of yet but I can tell you that parent teacher conferences were set up so backwards. You had to put your name on a list and wait until your name was up ON ALL TEACHERS. These were not held in the classrooms either but instead i I could hear many conversations that were being discussed between other students and their parents, very confidential information, needless to say some of these student had to be embarrassed that everyone could hear about their grades etc. Very poor set up, also I hear that there is no budget for microscopes in the science lab and my daughter doesn't even have a math book. They are making copies out of a book.
Certainly there are growing pains in this district; however, my experience has been there doesn't seem to be much concern on the part of the administrative staff to be involved with the parents. I'm interested to see if this changes over the next few years as the wrinkles get ironed out, or if it remains stagnant.
The district is growing and has growing pains. Something everyone should look into prior to placing their children here. This situation can be overcome with proper parent involvement.
