This school doesn't provide anything positive for the kids. They need to build these children up to be good characters. The kids have no respect for the staff or the other children. They are bullies. The principal has not put an end to the bullying.
The need more professional development classes and need to understand that all children are not the same. My child is in 5th grade and his teacher left right before winter break and they now have a new teacher who is at her wits end with these disrespectful children.
I would never recommend ANYONE sending their child to this school. The kids are rude and are disrespectful bullies. There is no respect to the staff. I am counting down the days till my child goes off to middle school where Mohave is a BULLY FREE environment. Save yourself the stress, save yourself and child the heartache and DON'T ENROLL HERE.
This is my child 1st year at Navajo. He is in 5th grade. Since he has been attending navajo there has been several bully situations. When I bring it up to the principal, she says she handles it but it continues. I recently brought it to her attenting last night and she told me in a nice way that If I am unhappy at Navajo then she would recomend me look for another school. How about make it a ZERO TOLERANCE school and be BULLY FREE
My 4th grade daughter has attended Navajo since Kindergarten. I am very pleased with her experience as a student and my experience as a parent at this school. My daughter has shown tremendous growth academically and thrives socially. Her daily interactions with the diverse population (language, special needs, socio-economic, etc.) have helped mold her into a sensitive, open-minded person. There is such an amazing community feel to this school. The teachers work together for the benefit of each child. There are numerous interventions as well as challenges offered for the diverse population. Navajo is a STEAM school which incorporates project based learning to make the lessons real to life. The teachers and administration care deeply for the success of each student. I am a firm believer that standardized test scores are not a true representation of the successful impact a school has on its students.
This school teaches to test (prepares kids only for the type and questions on the AZ Merit) and they're still testing below state standards for the basics. Kids are passed through with minimal academics, very sad for an already under-performing state education system. If you love your kids and care about their education, RUN far away. Too many better opportunities with the ease of out of boundary options!!!
Overall school is average quality. STEM program good. School organized and community focused. SPED program not good. SPED teacher is inexperienced and she does not know half the time what the kids are doing. She orders "her" aides around with no respect and lacks maturity as a teacher and lacks instructional skill. She has a know it all attitude and plays favorites with the kids. Would not recommend if your child is in SPED.
