I have a child at FAN and I can't say that I love it, I am looking for a new school as we write this. I think how much attention your child gets is how you contribute financially to the school. The female teachers dress inappropriate they look as if they are going to a night club. My daughter has just fallen behind; I have addressed it with the principal but as I said if I contributed more than I would get special attention.
My child is also in the 5th grade at Freedom Academy and we love his teacher. I am not sure what teacher this other person is speaking about, but I have never seen any belittling and I know the principal would never tolerate such behavior if it was brought to her attention. The principal likely has a personal relationship with all the teachers which is one of many reasons this school is so wonderful. I also have a daughter in second grade and we are equally happy about her teacher. We have been with this school for nearly six years and any time we have had an issue regarding anything, the principal was immediately attentive to our needs I would and have recommended this school on a regular basis. The principal knows each child's name within the first week of school. Each of teachers goes out of their way to learn who all the students in the school are . . . not just the kids in their classes. Belittling is never acceptable and any action like that should be taken up with the principal. I don't think the school should receive one star because of that. This is an amazing school with teachers that give 110%. Amazing principal, amazing teachers, amazing P.E. Coach.
I give this school 5 stars! I have two children with learning disorders. I have had them in three schools in Scottsdale. Two repeatedly violated their 504's. Both children were 1-2 years behind academically when the got to FAN. The principle at this school goes above an beyond what is required. Her staff fully supports her. They take action. After two months my children are working at grade level and are doing well. Sure, there is lots of homework, lots of rules, but when you see your child succeeding, with a big smile on their face, it is SO worth it. This is a school that cares and is willing to do what it takes, but they cannot do it with out parent participation. Yes, it still has it's bullies, t takes every offense seriously. Every child matters, even the bully. If you want a school as a partner in your child academic and social successes, this is one to consider.
I can't begin to tell you how happy and excited my daughter who attends Kindergarten at FAS is every day when I pick her up. She can hardly wait to tell me about her day, and the enthusiasm she exudes melts my heart. She attended the same preschool for almost 3 years and this last year was really tough for her. She's very head strong and clashed with one of her pre-k teachers. Thankfully she got along well with the other one and they formed a strong bond. I think they labeled her as the "naughty one" - so she often came home and when I would ask about her day, she would only tell me if she was "a lot naughty", or just a "little naughty" never anything postitive. So this positive energy that she gets from her teacher, her new class, and the rest of the Freedom staff is like a breath of fresh air. She is like a different person, and I just wanted to say thank you!!
Freedom Academy ROCKS! I currently have 2 kids at Freedom and 1 that just graduated this past year. This will be our 9th year at Freedom and our family has been so happy there. The Principal takes the time to know each and every student and truly cares for them and the rest of the staff is just amazing. It really is a caring family and I'm so happy to be a part of it. Thank you Freedom Academy for all of the wonderful years that we have had with you and all of the great years to come!
Words cannot describe how thankful I am for Freedom Academy. I am completely at peace knowing that my children are safe, loved, accepted and receiving an excellent education. Mrs. Hoffman is always available to parents and students. The majority of her day is spent with students. She genuinely loves them and cares not only about their academic success, but about their hearts as though they are her own children. She befriends, counsels and teaches students how to be a friend and how to resolve conflict and make wise choices. She has insight into children's hearts and wisdom beyond her years. My oldest child had the privilege of knowing Ms. Guenther before she became the principal to the Norh Campus. He describes her as being kind, understanding and easy to talk to. She helped him through a difficult situation. I trust both principals to love, care for, and advise my children in the same way I do.
When looking for a school where my four little humans would be not only be "attending school", but also a place where the people would be sharing in my parenting job for 7 hours a day 5 days a week Freedom Academy was and remained my first choice for all of my time in Arizona. During the 7 years that we were privileged to attend there, our children received the highest quality of education of any of our family and friends in Arizona. Year over year, as my children advanced the teachers grew to care for my children as of they were their own. This brought a peace beyond any mother's imagination! All of this would never be possible without the amazingly awesome principal, Linda Hoffman! This last year we moved to Kansas and I am thrilled to report that all four of my little humans tested at or above levels when given the Kansas education placement test! All of their teachers here raved about how prepared they were and complimented me on what eager learners they all are... a quality I believe was nurtured by the Freedom family! Not only do my children miss Freedom Academy, my husband and I do as well. We say all the time, if we ever move back it will be for that school!
I'm not sure there is room here for all the wonderful things I have to say about Freedom Academy. I have one child who attends Freedom and another who graduated this year. We have been with Freedom for 9 yrs. I am thankful every day that I happened upon this school. Freedom Academy shines, not only because of the amazing principal, teachers and staff, but because of the values they intill in the students. I have never come across such a loving group of children. It doesn't matter if your child is typical, different, or disabled, they will be accepted and they will be loved. The principal does not tolerate bullying of any kind and the children are taught love and respect for one another. I couldn't disagree more regarding the comment about the principal being a "business woman". I know both principals from north and south campuses and I don't know anyone who would describe them as business women. They carry the best interest and love for each and every one of their children in their hearts 24/7. They are in the "business" of loving and teaching our children, and keeping the head count up so that they can CONTINUE to touch the lives of our children and many more to come.
We removed our son from public school prior to 2nd grade enrolling him in Freedom Academy South because he was falling thru the cracks. He struggles with ADD and missed some basics in public school. Freedom Academy appreciates his strengths, addresses his weaknesses, and challenges him to develop his character, integrity, personality/individuality. The school does not allow him to make excuses, the faculty confronts him appropriately, and challenges him to be better than he thinks he can be. He feels welcomed and protected. Extra academic help is available to him, and he is beginning to flourish.
Freedom Academy has been the best thing that has ever happened to my children. Whether you are dropping your kids off in the morning, or picking them up in the afternoon, the environment is so serene and nurturing. The teachers, principal and staff genuinely care about your children and want them to succeed. My girls academics have sky rocketed due to the smaller classrooms and more individualized attention, I can't say enough about what a positive experience it has been for my 7th grade girls! Looking forward to another great year!
