Arts Academy at Scottsdale has been a wonderful school for all 3 of our children. We have been there since 2006 and have been very happy with the close knit, nurturing environment that challenges each student academically at their own level . Because this school is small and the teachers are fantastic, education can really be individualized to meet the needs of each student. The Pricipal does a great job with the children and encourages them to excel just as the teachers do. This school also supports creativity and introduces them to music, art, and drama with performances of spectacular plays at the end of the year. This school is a hidden gem for those of us fortunate enough to have found it!
My two children have been students at AASC. What a true blessing this school has been for my kids. I can see a huge difference in their confidence and attitude. This school has changed their lives!!! They love it here, and the teachers are AWESOME and so supportive of the students. I LOVE the how each class has levelized learning groups, and this allowed my kids to find success and confidence. Small student to teacher ratio, a wonderful active PTA, great leadership, and great kids. The school has a great small community feel and they are truly a family at AASC. I encourage everyone to check out this wonderful school!
When we selected Arts Academy (AASC) for our child, I had read every review for the school on this site. The majority were very positive; I reasoned that the few poor reviews must have been from random disgruntled parents so I disregarded them. I learned that I should have instead seen them as big red flags. Our experience at AASC was miserable. The principal stood by without introducing himself during our campus tour (we didn't even realize he was the principal until we were already enrolled), and he proved to be impersonable and not at all interactive with us as parents. During our child's year of kindergarten, he was labeled "gifted but disruptive" and set apart from the rest of his class, seated alone and isolated from the other children. There was little to no effort to determine a better teaching/learning method for him and no mention or effort to develop an IEP (as schools which receive public funding are required to). Since moving him to a public school in the Scottsdale USD he is now flourishing, has an IEP in place, and absolutely loves school -- such a contrast from his miserable experience at AASC! If your child is anything but "perfect" and "textbook", beware of AASC!
My children have been at AASC for two years and we LOVE it! Our family moved from New York 5 years ago and our biggest concern was the educational system in AZ. After researching public, private, and charter schools, we chose AASC. AASC had it all, small class sizes, high academic standards, excellent teachers, strong arts curriculum, and amazing parent involvement. We couldn't have made a better decision. Due to small class sizes, teachers can individualize their lesson plans, provide more one on one attention, and cover more material on any given day. Parents are always welcome on campus and in the classrooms. As a parent, I have met some wonderful families whose priority is their childs education and the school which they attend They come together for each other, for the children, and for the school as a whole. The children here are well behaved, respectful, and motivated. The teachers raise the bar, and the children rise to the occasion. What more could a parent want? Thank you AASC!!!
"It takes a village parents, teachers, and administrators- to raise a child" These are the words the school principal uses all the time. And he is sooo right. We love this school!. Very small school with excellent teachers, principal, and staff. Our kids are learning from teachers that care and the school it's like a big family. This is our 5th year in this school.
I am a parent of a second grader at this school and have had an excellent experience. My daughter was previously in a traditional public school setting and we moved her to this school a few months ago. She is so much happier here and thrives in the small class setting. Her teacher is nurturing but also challenges the students and maintains high academic standards. Most importantly my daughter has made amazing friendships with the other students is blossoming in the wonderful atmosphere of this school.
For the poster that reviewed today... we are not SCA (Scottsdale Christian Academy), we are AASC (Art Academy at Scottsdale). Think you tagged the wrong school.
We've been with Arts Academy (formerly CASY) for years. My older son was very shy and this place embraced him like a family from Kindergarten through 4th grade. First of all, the teachers are amazing, knowledgeable, dedicated, and have individualized approach to each child's needs. Their curriculum is challenging, exciting, diverse, and gives great knowledge to kids in all areas academics. Their hands on projects are fun and inspirational. Their annual shows steal the audience's hearts. The staff, the students, and the PTA have and the contributors of the school's success. It's been an excelling school for many years. It has had the same teachers for many years. My twins are in 4th grade this year and they are sad, because soon they'll be graduating. They absolutely love every moment spent at the school, from academics to social. Every day I pick them up from school and every day they tell their teachers that they are A+ teachers. The PTA is extremely supportive and very involved, which makes it such a strong community. We love Arts Academy at Scottsdale. It's an A+ school by all means.
The Art Academy is more than just an excellent school, it is a community of parents, teachers and an amazing principal that deeply care about the education of our children. The communication between parents, teachers and the administration is very open and easy. Kids are taught according to their strength and NOT by lowest denominator as seen in other schools. My daughter started last year in KG, teaching was based on her unique strengths, she would read 1st grade materials, and her teacher honed in on other skills to enhance. It is a supportive environment where my child feels safe and is motivated to learn. She was so looking forward to starting 1st grade this year. If you are a parent serious about your child's education, look no further. And don't judge the campus. You'll be positively "blown away" once your child is on campus in the care of the lovely teachers and staff!
Having moved here from our of state, was sadly disappointed with the one size fits all approach most PV schools take. Unless your child tests gifted they are not challenged to fullest potential as I've seen with two older children that have completed through high school in Scottsdale area schools. Wanting individualized attention and high expectation for my son, I am thrilled to have found AASC! He loves school and is years ahead of our two other children in terms of writing and math skills at the same age. Nurturing, warm, supportive community of staff, teachers and highly involved parents. Mr. B is wonderful with the kids and we especially love literature and math nights held on campus each semester. Don't settle or be left in the dark, check out this great school!
