All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

This school is without a doubt the best! My second grade son has transformed from lack of confidence to extremely confident - he has a fantastic teacher (who was also his first grade teacher at this school.) His academic skills and levels are so heartwarming and great...Ms. Megan is the most amazing teacher and person - I have no worries, whatsoever, when I leave my son there in morning - I have smiles knowing that he is in the best hands, and that he has made amazing friends. He wakes up every morning excited and happy to go to school - cannot ask for more that that!

We have 2 children at the school and this is our 2nd year at SCDS. We were so fortunate that both of our children's teachers looped up with them this year! That means they have the same teacher for two years and both of them are are amazing! Students can learn and be free from stress as the teachers and staff really care. As with any school, things can improve, but our family likes to focus on all the many positives that SCDS brings to our family and lives. Thank you!

SCDS is a great school. My child came from a district school and was behind. The headmaster and teacher with our son at school but even more importantly they guide us on how to help our son progress at home. It is a team effort and the hard work is paying off. I am proud of our son and respect that the school makes parents just as accountable as the teachers.

Our previous school closed down with short notice. We were fortunate to find SCDS and they welcomed us and many other families from the same school. The entire team made the transition so easy and put us at ease. The students are kind, respectful, and it shows they are there to learn. I only wish we found SCDS sooner.

I am a very involved parent! This school is not a Great school but a TERRIBLE school. The teacher turn over is extremely high! The proof is in the school report card at Arizona Dept of education grade C. The husband and wife team makes up different rules as they go... All children are not "equal"... Just because they offer small class sizes DOES NOT mean your child will get an education... Once you remove your child from this school you will see how far behind they are!! Keep away!!!

We are so happy to have SCDS in our lives. Each child is given extra attention throughout the week and this applies to excelling g students as well. The focus if the school is small class sizes, caring teachers, and a small community where great relationships are formed. Our children are currently on vacation and have been for the last 4 weeks but constantly Tj about their teachers and friends at SCDS which to hear as a parent is so warming. The homework is very reasonable, not hours and hours like other schools we considered. This allows our children to have lives beyond school and not be stressed all the time. We love the balance that SCDS provides our family and can't thank the teachers and admin staff enough!

My family is very disappointed in this school. It looked perfect on paper and during the tour, but the administration is just downright unprofessional. There have just been too many unknowns and mistakes made by them for us to have confidence to leave our children there for the long-term.

I absolutely love teaching at SCDS. The school is extremely supportive of the students and me in anything we may need. The community at SCDS is welcoming and friendly, which makes it a positive place for the students and myself to call our own. Also, we have great support from the other staff members and charter board that allow us to ensure each child is successful at school. I appreciate the small classroom size. Not only can I get to know my students better, but I can also give them the individualized attention they deserve.

It is an honor and such a joy to be a teacher at Scottsdale Country Day School! Some reasons why I love my job are the thoughtful, kind students; the supportive, involved families; the friendly and collaborative staff and colleagues; and the small class sizes that allow me to cater to the strengths and needs of each student. The school culture embraces each student and celebrates their uniqueness, fostering a positive learning community.

SCDS is an amazing school!! The small class sizes (max. 20) allow me to give my students the individualized attention they deserve. The teachers and staff are highly qualified. The atmosphere is warm and engaging, and everyone here wants each and every student to reach their full potential. I am thankful that I can be part of this wonderful learning environment.

Two key strengths that attaracted us to Scottsdale Country Day School are the smaller class size and the higher challenging curriculum. The class size is limited to 20. With this the kids get more attention, guidance, and more effective learning. Also as a result, the teachers can then teach more advanced lessons effectively increasing the standard of the curriculum. Teachers and staff are very knowledgable, friendly, approachable, and basically awesome. The school administration & record keeping needs a little improvement, but they are taking the right steps in that direction. We love the school and would highly recommend it.

We have 3 children at SCDS and couldn't be happier! It is a small school with only 1 class per grade level but we like this. The teachers are amazing and really care about the children they teach. Our children have even cried when they have been unable to go to school due to sickness! As a parent, that speaks volumes. The maximum class size of 20 is almost unbelievable when our local public school has 30-37 students in a class. Like anything in life, things are not always perfect but we have felt comfortable speaking to the teachers and admin when questions or issues have arisen and they dealt with them accordingly. Thank you to all at SCDS for making our children happy and excited about school!

As a teacher and a parent of a PK student, I appreciate the small classroom size and the strong feeling of community at SCDS. The parent participation is incredible and enhances the overall commitment to teaching and learning at this school.

We joined SCDS mid-year after several years at a top-rated Scottsdale Public School. Why we love it: 1) Small class sizes ensure that each child works to his/her own individual level and gets personal attention. 2) Teachers are AWESOME: invested and caring, but still firm. 3) The staff/teachers demand a certain level of behavior from the kids, and the school is small enough that behavior expectations are enforceable. Meanness is simply not acceptable here, and poor behavior is dealt with swiftly, privately and appropriately. 4) Homework is not busywork....the assignments actually make my kids think creatively, so they're more engaged. 5) My kids love it....from the iPad lab to special projects to working on the talent show in music class, everything they do during the school day is purposeful and directed at active learning, and it shows in the kids and their enthusiasm for school. What could improve: Would love to see a more actively involved parent community and a more organized PTO, and I know the school is working on that currently. Overall, we have been tremendously happy here. At SCDS, school is not a grind...what a change to have kids who are excited to go to school!

We came to this school in hopes of a better education and safer environment. I can honestly say we found it at SCDS. The staff cares and they show it. The teachers are truly involved in the children's lives and it is amazing. We love SCDS and we look forward to many yeas r s to come.

Academics are good here from what I've seen, as this is our first year at the school. However, be prepared for an unprofessional administration, people who establish policies as they go, which has upset and disrupted several families. As one parent aptly stated, look before you leap. Also ask a lot of questions and get any unclear policies in writing.

Second year at SCDS and remain completely in love with the administration, teachers, and afterschool and enrichment programs. Chinese and Spanish, soccer, dance, art music and amazing academics. Truly all encompassing for a child and balanced. Love this school and recommend it whole heartedly.

After two disappointing years at a Scottsdale public elementary school, and a ton of research on other options in the area, we chose SCDS for our child. We talked with the administration, teachers and parents and everything we learned was very positive. Now our child has started his first year at SCDS and he is back to the happy child he used to be. We especially love that the school differentiates instruction as needed (which our child needs), maintains small class sizes, and focuses on etiquette (which you notice when you meet the other kids at the school). After his first week at his new school, our child said, "This school could change my life. I love it." It already has. We have our happy sweet boy back again and we couldn't be happier.

We are new to the school - my daughter is in the Pre-K program. It is early in the year but so far so good! The kids are safe, doors are locked, and signed in and out. There is music, language and arts and recess/play time. The class sizes are small and you have a chance to get to know the other students and parents. It is a true community of people that care about the education of their kids. The staff has been wonderful and caring. I just know that this is the right place for my daughter and look forward to enjoying many years here.

We are new to SCDS this year - its first year as a charter school. I have a child in 3rd Grade and Miss Miller is outstanding. She is kind and clear with her instruction and my son is very comfortable. The small class size is a tremendous benefit and allows teachers to truly give individualized attention to each child. The school is very much a family centered school. Mr. Steve and Miss Kathy obviously care deeply for the school. It speaks volumes that their own children attend SCDS. My daughter is in the SCDS Pre-K program and loves it! After researching a ton of preschools, I decided on this one because of all the added benefits like Mandarin, Spanish, P.E., and Art. Miss Sudha and Miss Lauren make learning fun!

We are going into our 4th year at SCDS and here are some reasons why. Our son floundered academically at his local public school and by 2nd grade we were really worried for him. He was losing confidence in himself and described himself on a homework assignment as being "slow" and "lazy" (not words we used at home ever). So by 3rd grade we changed schools, now SCDS. The class size went from 27 in 2nd grade to 18 in 3rd. While our son struggled with speech issues and with reading and writing, once in a smaller classroom and with so much support and encouragement, he slowly caught up. He smiles now before and after school. He is greeted everyday by the staff in the front office. He knows everyone at school and they know him. He feels he belongs somewhere now and isn't just showing up to watch everyone else...he is the one participating and contributing. He matters at SCDS. Every school isn't for every child nor a perfect fit for every child, but SCDS cares so much and we are so happy they are here for us, and in central Scottsdale.

Scottsdale Country Day School has more than exceeded the standards necessary to prepare my child to attend and be accepted into a college preparatory high school and allow him to grow into a well-rounded child. This is our second year at this wonderful school, and my child has progressed academically and socially. Because of the smaller class size, the teachers willingly differentiate instruction. The language arts curriculum emphasizes grammar and composition and the writing process. Students receive the benefits from the cumulative practice of Saxon Math. In addition, children gain the added benefits of exposure to public speaking, Mandarin, piano, art, chess, and Cricket. The school actively promotes partnerships between teachers and parents and provides a warm and welcoming environment to all students and their families. We love SCDS!

To every parent out there stop searching day and night for a great school and please come and join our school. We have amazing, talented and highly educated teachers and staff here at SCDS. Where other schools are cutting programs daily, we are adding more programs. We currently offer music, art, PE, etiquette, Spanish, Mandarin, dance, and more. Parents and their children matter to us at SCDS. I am thankful and grateful for this school which allows me to do what I do best...TEACH your children.

Scottsdale Country Day has been a blessing for us. Our son is now thriving and enjoying school again. He was lost in the public school system. His classroom had over 30 students and he just wasn't fitting into the public school criteria. He now has 7 students in his class and gets the attention he needs when he has questions. Having a much smaller classroom allows for the students to work together with good supervision so that they all do well. The teachers and the staff really care about my sons education and always offer to help in any way possible. His teacher always offers him the encouragement he needs and makes my son feel like he can do accomplish anything he sets out to do. My sons teacher is always willing to work with him one on one when needed. The schools is well organized and provides a safe environment for learning. They always keep us well informed. This was the best decision we ever made regarding our sons education.

My Son joined SCDS this year for Kindergarten. We chose this school because of all the wonderful opportunities they have from Mandarin and Spanish to Art and Science class, PE and extra-curricular activities. Mrs. Paget is the Kindergarten teacher and is TRULY WONDERFUL. My son adores her as do my husband and I. Our son is thriving in this environment; warm hearts, great kids and small class sizes really encourage him and us to be open and excited about learning and advancing. We Love this School!

We have two children that attend SCDS, one in 8th grade and one in the 6th grade. Not only does the school feel like family to me (us), but the school is safe, loving, and compassionate about making each student feel at home while learning as well. SCDS is an amazing quality school to find, and is unique to the area. The tuition is very reasonable, which allows different families be able to attend a private school at a manageable budget. The teachers and office staff are warm and each student is recognized each day. Weekly events are planned for SCDS families to grow together outside of school and make friendships that are quality for children. I am very pleased with SCDS and know in my heart our children are having the best experience academically and socially. Thank you SCDS!

Our two sons have been at this school since it began. This year, one is in third grade and the other in eighth grade. What I like about SCDS are the great teachers, high standard of care for the students, small classes, individual attention beyond just classwork, low tuition, and great kids and families to play with outside of school. Other schools have acted like we were lucky to be able to find a spot for our son there. SCDS has a completely different attitude. The office staff, principal, and teachers all tell me and act like they are lucky to have our children at their school.

We recently transfer from an A rated Excelling public school where our 3rd grader was bored waiting all day for a class of more than 30 to complete lessons as a whole. I must say SCDS has exceeded our expectations. Their small class size and professional staff affords them the ability to customize the curriculum to each child s needs. They have created an atmosphere where each child wants to participate and do their best. Our son loves going to SCDS. He is excited about school and wants to tell us everything he has learned when he gets home. It s amazing that after the 3 R s there s still time for foreign languages, music, etiquette, PE, and I-Pads. With the help of SCDS our son is turning into a confident, happy, healthy, and smart young man. What else could a parent ask for?

My triplet boys are on their second year at SCDS and they are currently enrolled in first grade. The staff at SCDS is great with children. My children love school and have made tremendous progress. Small class sizes and tutoring is also available if necessary. I also love that fact that I have access to the teacher on a daily basis and it is in person and not by phone or e-mail. Also, etiquette is part of the curriculum and it shows because all of the children are so well behaved.

Our son has been at SCDS for 2 years and we LOVE it! He is academically challenged and the small class size means that he receives individualized instruction and challenges every day. The small environment also requires the students to develop social awarness of the people around them, both students and adults, which is a very mature and healthy trait to nurture in young people. Finally, the Staff and Administration are top notch! We are demanding of the people who spend so much time with our child and we have been nothing but impressed. Well done, SCDS!! We are lucky to have you in our community and in our son's life!

Thia ia our 2nd year at SCDS and we love it. The small class size enables the teachers to indiviualize learning for each student. The administration and staff really care about the students and their families. The introduction of IPADs as learning tools really prepares the students for an ever changing tech savvy world. My children really enjoy all the different specialvclasses that are taught. SCDS is a great place to learn.

I absolutely love this school and the staff...and most importantly, so does my child! We had tried several other schools, and there was never an appropriate mix of a challenging curriculum along with a nurturing, "won't get lost in the crowd" environment. Until SCDS!! The teachers are compassionate and personal, as well as being outstanding educators. The principal and other staff are just as personable and quite professional. They know each child's family, background, needs, strengths and weaknesses, and they work very hard to provide a well-rounded educational and growth experience. All students - even pre-K - work on Spanish, Mandarin, iPads, etiquette, and all the core classes, too. With such small class sizes and caring staff, you can rest assured that your child will get the individual attention they need and deserve, as well as an outstanding education!

I have to agree with the reviewer of August 9, 2012, unfortunately. There's a big sell with no follow through at this school. I would apply an even stronger word than unprofessional to describe the administration at this school however. Some of the teacher's do not have the credentials they should either. Look before you leap.

I have two sons that are attending Scottsdale Country Day School, a 2nd grader and a 4th grader. I have nothing but good things to say about this school. The entire staff has welcomed both my boys with open arms. My boys are loving going to school each day. I feel as though each child is getting the individual attention he needs, and this is due to the combination of small class size, and teachers that are willing to go above and beyond. I can see that my boys feel that they are a part of a community, and I wish I say the same about the other schools they have been too, but I can't. If you are looking for a school with very low tuition where your child will love to learn and will get the attention he/she deserves, then this is the school for you.

This school opened in Fall 2012 and looked like an inexpensive private school with a Scottsdale address. Young children, 3 through 7 years, might do well in the small classes. However, the administration wasn t very professional, and they did not seem to really understand good middle school/junior high (4th-8th grades) education where more learning needs to take place. There was almost no support for the students, no library, no resources for advanced students, and only a few old computers in the classrooms. No Junior Honor Society, no academic clubs, no connections to the larger school district, no sports program. No help for struggling students except for what the teacher did on her own. The grades were 1st/2nd together, no 3rd grade, 4th/5th and 6th-8th, but not all the teachers seemed trained for multiple level classrooms. The students sometimes worked at the level below their grade. If you have high expectations for your child, or if you want your child to move to an academically centered high school, this is not the place for you.

I am so thrilled to have found this school! I have been to two other schools and were not impressed. This school is owned by a husband and wife team who are worldly, bright, kind, warm and professional. The teachers in my son's Pre-K are amazing. This school has found the perfect balance of fun and learning. My son is so happy there - and is writing, drawing, exercising, Signing - wow! All the kids in his class are so warm, delightful, positive, bright and kind to everyone. I am also impressed that they are able to provide such small class sizes for the cost. It is very affordable especially for what you get! Don't be confused by the location (it is located on the grounds of a Jewish Temple). This is NOT a religious school. They just rent space from the Temple! I am so happy to have found such a wonderful place for my child. We are both happy! I feel like I hit the lottery!

I am very excited about the next year at SCDS.
