WHAT A TERRIBLE SCHOOL , most of the grade 7's from last year all left , thats why they went from around 25 last year and now only have 4 in grade 8 , that tells you how good this school is , we actually took our kids out before the year finished because the administration did not want to look at concerned parents. one of our concerns was right down to what some of the teachers were doing, which was nothing in terms of education , but the concerns were pushed away , I just found out that one teacher in grade 7 last year is now teaching grade 1 and 2 , like we told this principal then , but after all the kids leave , then she does something . WOW , we had to put our kids thru tutoring all summer long to bring them up to date. what a waste of time this school is , if you want daycare for your children maybe this is the place and then your still going to get a lot of drama , but don't send them here for an education.
Freedom Academy is a breathe of fresh air. The kids classrooms are large but the class size is small. My children have excelled far beyond the supposed "10" excelling school they used to go to. They are getting a better education because the teacher has more time to spend with them. The principal goes out of her way to make sure she is very visible on campus and always there if you need to talk to her. The parents that go there believe in the school and teachers and it shows with all the support that is given. If you are tired of the overcrowded classrooms, empty promises from faculty, It's no wonder there are grouchy teachers and kids that fought all the time. Who can function in 33+ class size...
My daughter is now in her second year at FAN in first grade. We love it!! The leadership by the principal, Ms. Guenther, is exceptional. She knows how to run a school with care and thoughtfulness. Everything runs smoothly. Her teachers have been amazing. There is excellent communication between the teachers and parents. I love that they keep the class sizes nice and small so the students get the attention and good education they deserve. Although it is a charter, they still get art, music, and PE. They also have after-school programs and sports. I am so happy we came to this school!
My two kiddo's would not imagine going to another school. There is something very special about this school, indeed. The kids are happy, the test scores soar and the teachers are very approachable. Barbara Guenther and her amazing staff have far surpassed our expectations, each year better than the one before. This is our 5th year at the North Campus.
We have been at the North campus since it opened. I can honestly say that you will never find a more caring and loving principle. Ms. Guenther loves and knows each child by name. The teachers are amazing and give 110%. I like that if there is a child that is struggling they are taken aside and worked with to catch up. My children love it!!! I like the community feel, good values and manners as well as a top rate education. I like that the class sizes are small. I do know it is not for everyone. If you are looking for a huge play ground, a bus and cafeteria they will not be found. If you are looking for somewhere that is growing and wants to have the latest tech and extra circulars it won't be found. The growth is limited by space and the director has no intention of moving or growing. However, if you want an excellent education in a loving community environment, with a fabulous leader and teachers, you will absolutely find it. You will also find great parents that love their children and the school.
Freedom Academy North is a wonderful school with staff that really care. Mrs. Gunther the school's principal is exceptionally professional and does an outstanding job making the school fantastic for all who attend! I found the curriculum to be challenging and engaging for our daughter in both 4th and 5th grade. Mr. & Mrs. Demos the 4th and 5th grade teachers have done an outstanding job teaching our daughter not only academically but morally as well in the form of manners, accountability, a well informed financial class on running a business and so on. Our son attended kindergarten with Mrs. Covely who was in her 1st year at Freedom. Based on our experience, she needs a bit of work on organizational skills and teaching the children to read but all in all did a nice job. Both of our children enjoyed their time at Freedom and we highly recommend this school. Angie Johnson - AngJohnson.com
This is our first year at Freedom Academy and I wish I would have found it sooner! Academically my kids have excelled, especially in writing. We came from a 10 excelling school in Cave Creek Unified and I can tell you my kids were BEHIND when we got here. Not to mention one of my children was bullied and we have had no issues here at all. (The same students at the other school are still having issues with a different child now hmmmm) As an added bonus my kids have excelled and finally made it to Honor roll after a lot of hard work where in Cave Creek they made A's so easily. We love and dedication and discipline of the teachers is wonderful. The principal is very visible on campus and KNOWS what is going on. So if your child has a problem with respect and discipline this is probably not the school for you. If you are looking for small class size, a good education where kids are taught to think and encouraged to read literature and taught proper grammar and writing skills look at Freedom Academy.
I was a student at Freedom Academy North and I have never been to such a terrible school. Of course at every school u go to their is always something wrong but nothing as bad as FAN. I have been to 5 schools and I've never had such a bad experience. The fact that the principal takes students out of class to socialize about hating other students is unbelievable. Instead of encouraging kids that r about to go into there last year of elementary school to learn how to be mature enough to solve there own problems by themselves, they encourage them to snitch on them to the principal and tell lies to help get kids expelled in shocking. Because of the fact that this is a charters school and not a cristian, catholic or any religion school and the principal thinks its out for a group of group to completely shut out someone because of there religion doesn't makes sense. I was doing 8th grade math this year and was a 7th grader and I fought myself pre-algebra because the teacher didn't care to help me improve. How can someone even consider them self a good teacher. I hope that u will think twice in putting ur children into such a terrible school that will never do anything but worsen them.
We love Freedom Academy North. The principal is amazing. I admire and respect her grace, class and dignity. She truly cares about the students. The students all know her well and respect her. She knows every student by name. She sets the precedence for the school. Our child has had a wonderful experience at this school. As a parent I feel that my child is very safe and loved. I also am amazed at how much our child has learned this year both academically and socially. This school teaches the children to be good citizens in a community setting. The academics are superior to many schools. The teachers are passionate and teach there because they love teaching. We are thrilled with our teachers as well as the music and art teachers. I would highly recommend this school. It has so much to offer young minds. The PTO is truly dedicated to the children and has fabulous parent participation. The communication is really good from both the teachers and the administration. We look forward to many more years here.
I have tried to post the truth about what goes on at FAN 3 times and ironically it only stays posted for one day. Think and re-think before you go near this school. Dishonesty is one of the biggest problems from Administration Staff.
Out daughter started kindergarten this year and we had many choices of where to send her. After looking at many schools we chose to send her to FAN and we are very happy with our decision. The teachers and leadership at FAN have been wonderful. This school provides a wonderful loving environment for children to learn and we could not be happier with our daughters progress. We would highly recommend FAN to others based on our experience.
My daughter is a student at Freedom Academy North. I feel that Freedom North has a rating of A in our state for many reasons. My daughter is receiving a rock solid education that is following the newly adopted common core standards for the state of Arizona. Her teacher teaches her with great knowledge of subject matter and with enthusiasm. She is covered everyday in a classroom that is full of acceptance and kindness. Her teacher challenges her to work hard and to be creative. Barbara Guenther is an excellent principal. She is fair and compassionate and she leads with honor and integrity. Ms. Guenther guides her school with consideration to differences among students and families. Our family is so happy with our choice of Freedom Academy North where our daughter is loved and where she is receiving an education that is rich and relevant.
The person who expressed their frustrations in regards to cell phones being taken away, I pray and hope will search their own choice in the situation of allowing the phones to go to school to begin with!! Our teachers and leaders at school have ENOUGH to deal with and the distraction of kids wasting their time on facebook, uploading images and gossiping (usually all they are doing on their phones, RARELY do children use their phones for anything useful!) Continued....I still hold tight to the beautiful Letters she wrote my 3 older children that graduated from the eigth grade and read personally to each child at their graduation infront of ALL to hear.....as you listen you become absolutely amazed at how 'INTUNE" she is with your child, revealing how much she loves each child that comes through her school and how important their future is to her! No One Does This.... I have a 22, 19, 15 & 7 year old and not one single school in has ever cared so much about the success of my children! Blessings, Tammi G.
