This school grades unfairly if you ever speak up. They play favorites and gossip about parents.

There have been multiple instances where children have been physically abused and the Principal and assistant principal actively tried to cover it up. The assistant principal threatened my child and told her not to tell anyone.

We have been a part of the DCES community for 6 years now. We have always been impressed with the teachers dedication and professionalism. DCES has a new principal that has been making some very exciting and innovative changes to make our great school even better. The emphasis on a growth mindset has been particularly helpful for my youngest.

PBIS is a school system implemented across the grades and instills the value of character in students.

Six years ago we toured several schools in the Scottsdale Community but Desert Canyon Elementary became our top choice when we were given a warm invitation by the principal to volunteer and get involved in the school community. Since then we drive our children back and forth each day as we are out of the school zone but it is worth the drive! Desert Canyon is a school of excellence whether it be academics, teaching or extra-curricular. There is always something exciting happening at the school for students and parents to participate in or attend and plenty of opportunity for parents to volunteer whether in the classroom or at special events. We are so glad we chose DCES!

We love Desert Canyon Elementary. We have a 5th grader and 3rd grader who have been there since Kindergarten. The teachers, administration, staff, and PTO are wonderful. They focus on building character as well as academics. Great community! Great school!
