This school has great family environment. The teachers care about the students furthering their education. And being college bound is an expectation that is given to each student. We love this school.
Please read current reviews of this school. In the past few years the school has had a tremendous turn around in the way things are going. From an under performing school with low enrollment, to a busting at the seams, dual language college bound academy. The dual language program draws many involved parents and teachers to the school. My 2 daughters are thriving, not only in Spanish class, but their English class is challenging and engaging. I know parents that commute 30 miles or more to attend this school, and I, myself after one year of attending open enrollment, was excited to purchase a home in the neighborhood. We are committed to providing our girls with a quality education, and the Spanish language portion is just the icing on the cake. Many parents would be happy to pay a healthy tuition for what these children get for free. I cannot say enough good things.
I have two children that attend the Dual Language program at Kyrene de Los Ninos. We are from out of the district, but the travel is worth it. We have found dedicated teachers and staff to be the norm. I have watched as the PTA has grown immensely and parental involvement is high. The principal is dedicated and actively involved. I'm so glad we found this school. I couldn't ask for better for my kids.
This is the only elementary school I have ever had my kids in. I have been very happy with every teacher. My younger son was able to start the dual language program, that continues each year. Half the day instruction is in English, and half the day in spanish. The school's motto is NO EXCUSES. Each classroom has a university that it represents, and they get the children thinking about college at a young age which I think is great. This school has a resource center for families that have children in the kyrene district. Even though not all parents are capable of volunteering during the day, this school offers lots of family nights, and activities that help parents become involved with their child's school. I especially love the diversity at this school.
This school has being amazing for my daughter! The dual program is great. She is reading and writing in English and Spanish! Miss Fernandez and Miss Burger are amazing teachers. We love it!
After much research decided to try to dual language program and chose to go out of district (30 min drive). Principal and teaching staff very dedicated and wonderful. However this school has very minimal parental involvement due to demographics of the community served. Poor supervision in am on playground before school as K-5 on same playground together. Many children with violent and emotional problems in the classroom prohibitied the teacher from creating a safe learning environment. One cannot change the issues that accompany children coming from underpriviliedged, uneducated, and impoverished homes. Hopes were high, but in the end was very disappointed.
This is my child's first year attending Ninos - A College Bound Dual Language Academy. Great school! Great teachers! Great principal!
Ninos has an excellent bilingual program that was started this year. Mrs Burger and Mrs Fernandez are great teachers.
Kyrene de los Ninos is an excellent school with highly dedicated staff and administrators. They have recently been recognized as a No Excuses University. Every classroom has adopted a college/university. Students as young as K are talking about college. They truly care about their students. Way to go Ninos!
My son has attended this school for 2 years and will begin his 3rd year in August, this is a great school! I have seen other kids at his grade level that do not know nearly the things he is learning and doing. He already had a pretty good reading level but thanks to the teaching staff he is excelling beyond belief. There is a higher minority group compared to most in the area but it doesn't impair the learning in the class room at all (ie. kids that do not speak english) in fact it helps socially in the fact it diversifies students. I am preparing to send my other son here next year and can't wait to see how the school will aid in his growth
this school was ok and they did try hard to motivate there students but often would misunderstand some of the student actions and place them in SPEC. ED because they cant comprehend simple matters and investigate issues over all it was ok but to be honest this is not a school i would recomend due to there internal staffing issues as well as ther ability to work with students
I have two children attending Ninos and they both LOVE IT. My son had a traumatic brain injury in preschool and we were told he would have sever learning disabilities... Since attending Ninos, he's made a huge improvement all around. He's slow, yes, but non the less he is not very far behind his peers. The teachers are awesome, they are always open to suggestions, meetings, and Dr. G is always generous. Overall, Awesome school.
At first I was skeptical about the school After my son has attended for 4 months I have seen so much positive outcomes from this school. He is in kindergarten and he will not attend next year due to a move, but I would reccomend this school. FYI there is a high, high minority rate with lots of ESL students. Although my son is a minority, I felt this would hinder his learning. But as time has gone on, and I have observed more, I realize that this is one of the more organized and better schools in the Tempe area.
My children attended Ninos for four years. I have seen the school slowly 'go down hill.' The leadership of the Principal has a lot to be desired. She is very stand-offish and is not actively involved with the parents. As of the last count, the PTO had five members. Two of the three fourth grade teachers alone opted to leave Ninos for the 2005-2006 school year. It used to be such an outstanding school for the children.
Kyrene De Los Ninos has a great reputation and they live up to it! The first thing I noticed about the school is the beautiful interior of the school. It is carpeted and clean thoroughout. The exterior is very nice and spacious too. My daughter transferred in from another state at almost the end of the school year and they graciously welcomed her with open arms. The whole school staff is friendly and helpful. I recently enrolled my child in Kids Zone at the school for after school care and it is a great program also. Overall, my daughter is learning more than at any previous school she has attended and I would recommend this school to anyone.
