Good school. Great teachers and staff. I attended there several years ago and I feel I got a good quality education from there.
The Principal does not have people skills. I volunteered at the school multiple times and was never thanked by her for the days of service provided. Many of my parent friends stopped helping at the school. You don't stay were you are not welcomed. I felt she did not care about my concerns for my child. She is not a warm person. We will open enroll my other children at another school because of her.
The new principal ruined my 8th grade year. She did not care what we thought, what we cared about, or what we needed. She just hide in her office and came out once in a while to bust students she did not like. She does not know what she is doing.
The school was OKAY. I went to La Cima for most of middle school and the students dont really care about anything. There are a lot of great teachers but not students. It is hard to make friends there because the students are mostly all the same. There are no groups at that school like goths or skaters or anything like that. There is really no diversity. But it is an okay school. They have good advanced classes on mostly every subject.
I started going to this school in 7th grade and i left after the 2nd quarter.I would have to say this is the worst school EVER ! The students dont care about their future, grades, and they most certainly dont have respect for the teachers and staff.Theres very few good teachers and almost no parent involvement.I feel sorry for the teachers because the students refuse to cooperate. I wouldn't recomend this school!
This new principal is terrible! We thought we would give her a year to figure things out, but it was the wrong choice. She was completely phony with us and has changed a warm and wonderful school into a plain building with little character and nothing to offer. Also, the teachers that made the school so wonderful have almost all left due, in large part, to this new nightmare of a principal.
I have never experienced a school where students rarely have homework. Expectations of students appear very low. If we as parents aren't involved in our child's academics our students will be a product of a failing system.
When I enrolled my son into LaCima Aug 2009 I was nervous due to the ratings but now I couldn t be happier. I love this school. The teachers really care about the kids. They are easy to talk to. They will communicate via email, phone or in person. The teachers, office staff, nurse, and monitors are very smart and friendly. They pay attention and are easy to talk to. My son really likes it there too & looks forward to the football and wrestling activities they offer. He has learned so much and has fun doing it. He has excelled to advance math and gets A-B's in all his classes. This is the best school I have seen yet & I have seen a few from TUSD to Rancho Sahuarita. I am VERY happy with LaCima in whole and plan to keep my son there until he moves on to H.S.
I attended La Cima from grades 6 to 8. I learned things from this school throughout and walked out with an A-A+, but however the school system itself was pretty bad. The principal when I attended there was alright, but that was the only thing that was decent. First of all, all of the classes I've taken weren't even challenging enough (even if it was high end classes), which led me to get an easy A. Also, the teachers really don't care about the grade system too. It's like if you submit something in, you will get an A, no matter how the quality of the homework submitted is. Second of all, 65% of the teachers I had were near retirement age, so they couldn't teach energetically and really get the point across. There are more things i'd like to say but I can't due to the word restriction here.
I went to this school a year ago, and I never realized that it was such a terrible school until I left. Teachers seem to kind of try, but the students just dont want to work. Students can pass without even trying. Overall, it didn't serve its purpose: to teach students, and to prepare them to be good people in the real world.
I went to this school some yours ago and it was the best school that I have been at. The teacher are very good and helped me in every thing. they were also me friends.
My child was at La Cima for half [a] year.It was the worst school We have experienced.Teachers don't act like they care.My child was bullied non-stop by kids she did not know. My concerns with my child's problems at school were not taken serious by the principal. There is a lot of 'gang like' activity in this school. I would not recommend this school for any child. Amphi district needs to re-evaluate this school and hire a whole new staff. For the children's sake I hope something is done about this troubled school.
Student teacher ration very bad. District is asking for teachers to take on my students with more work time and state mandated tests. Over all bad school.
Big push to teach 'to the state standards'. Weak leadership. Lots of stress on teachers. Students are disrespectful and negative.
Plenty of extracurricular activities; nice facilities; knowledgeable teachers.
My son attended 6 through 8 at La Cima. While he did well there, I was not impressed over all. There is too much emphasis on discipline and not enough on academics. We had problems with several teachers who seemed to be burnt out.
Average education in this school is not bad, but compare to other school's test results I would say teachers need to have more challanged kids to potentially improve their average quality of education to compete with other school in the town..
