the first days of school their were ants all over children's backpack from where they line up, and the grass was very tall making it hard for children to walk through. i have just found out this school scored as "C" and is 90% poverty. when we told the principal she seemed quick to have it taken care of. im curious what the difference is from this school and a "north side" school. their must be a huge difference. is it parent participation, lack of activities, fed up staff and teachers. i mean why do these kids have to suffer. school is supposed to make a positive impact on children, not make them want to hate school... these school need help and CHANGE! whether it be from structure. organization, patience etc!!! im so sad as a parent.
I have had all three of my girls go through this school now. My youngest one is currently in Kindergarten. This school started to show some promise with the last Principal, but since he was forced out by the Superintendent due to a difference in opinion, they've replaced him with a less experienced Principal who seems to make up ridiculous rules as she goes along and has no control over her staff (of 15+ years), as they seem to do whatever they want. In addition, the cafeteria staff/ T.A.'s rummage through lunches the kids bring from home and sometimes force the kids to eat more than they can when they believe they haven't eaten enough. They even handle the kids' food after having wiped down tables, which is very unsanitary. When the Principal was advised of this, she said she would talk with the staff, but no changes were made as they continue the practice. It's very disgusting to watch this occur. Our daughter won't be returning next year. If you value your child's health, you won't send them here, either. The one star is for her teacher who has to do battle with the staff just to get basic information she needs from them. She's the one saving grace for this year.
Two of my children now attend this school and since leaving their other school to come here they both have done a total 180 for the worst their grades have went from A's and B's to D's and even F's. The bullying issue is out of control and the preventionist doesn't seem to do her job to inforse the rules about it my children now cry not to go to school everyday and that is not fair a place where a child should feel safe and want to go to is just not that anymore and as a Parent that expresses concerns of this your just brushed under a rug. If it wasn't for the care and support of the few teachers this school would be nothing the teachers seem to care more for the students then any other member of staff at this school not even the school nurse seems to take the well being of the children seriously because if your child doesn't feel good the nurse just wants them out of her office as quick as possible and if you can't get there fast enough she will send the student back to class and call again but will tell you that the xhild still needs picked up and is still not felling well but she can't keep them taking up space in her office, I thought sending them back to class makes no scents.
