My son has been in various private schools throughout the nation, but feels that the Mesa Verde MAP program was his best educational experience. He was recently nominated to Who's Who Among American High School Students,as a freshman, and chose Mrs. Lynn Whitesell at MV as his most influential teacher. Love that school!!

This school feels like a big family. I like everything, except the constant competition (as part of the fund raising aspect of the school.) Would like to see students and parents involved in fund raising without the 'winner takes all' attitude sometime promoted. There is enough of that in the later grades--let's teach our kids how to work together and support each other and their school, instead of turning everything into a competitive situation. Cooperation is more fun, anyway!

We are somewhat new to Mesa Verde after having moved here in Sept 2002 from Michigan. I have a very high opinion of MV so far and can see the quality curriculum being delivered to my 3rd and 4th grade daughters. Thanks and keep up the good work.

About the tests

In 2012-2013 Arizona used the Arizona Instrument to Measure Standards (AIMS) to test students in reading and mathematics in grades 3 through 8 and 10, writing in grades 5, 6, 7, and 10, and in science in grades 4, 8 and 10. GreatSchools' profiles currently show AIMS mathematics, reading and writing results. 2013 AIMS grade 10 results represent on-track 10th graders for the 2013 test year. AIMS is a standards-based test, which means that it measures how well students have mastered Arizona learning standards. Students must pass the grade 10 AIMS in order to graduate. The goal is for all students to meet or exceed state standards on the test.
