Most teachers have a it is just a pay check attitude maybe because it is ran by a prison warden not a principal. Dr. Emmert looks for every reason and little thing wrong with a child, and acts like she is the best thing to man because she has a doctorate she belittles the kids has a horrible attitude and when you try to talk with her about your concerns, she says if you do not like she can find you another school makes it seem like she is doing you a favor by contacting the welcome center forcing you to have to move schools because of her a inconvenience because that is our home school. My children attending wheeler have regressed not progressed and I no longer believe in TUSD at all next year I will be moving my kids to a real school not a education boot camp ran by a warden and correctional officers. The school has taken all fun away from school for the kids even passing out valentines. The only time you hear anything from anyone in the school is when they have complaints about your child. Wheeler and the way it is ran is wrong and if it is a representation of the school district than TUSD does not care about there kids it is all just money to them.
Most of the teacher at Wheeler are good. But the Principle has bully behavior, my child been there 5yrs. never a behavior problem for any of his teachers. Yet Stacie Emert seems to go out her way to find him and tell him must drink his milk, must pull up his pants, his waist band was showing under his shirt, not visable to anyone. All on a regular basis.
My daughter's school closed from all of the budget cuts, so i enrolled her at Wheeler. Her reading and writing improved remarkably. They offered lots of extra help and special time to help her. I am very satisfied with this school!!
I attended Wheeler over 20 years ago, and now my child is attending the school. I have enjoyed the office staff and his teacher very much. I am a little disappointed that the school has not seen many upgrades in over 20-years! It also appears that there is a lack of parent participation. I hope to see these things improve in the upcomming year
I thought the Principal was exceptional. She is ambitious for her school and their students to be the very best they can be. She seems to be very disciplined in her goal and sets standards that all must be follow not just a few. I like that since too many elementary schools allow certain parents privileges other parents are not receiving. While I was a parent at this school I've witnesses her treat every single parent, students and teachers exactly the same with no favorites in sight. It doesn't matter if that parent is one she works with daily or if this parent is only seen when their child has a situation. She is considerate to all who she serves. She handles the children the same way without reserve. I enjoyed watching this during all my time helping out there at the school. Way to go Dr. Emert!!
Its too bad that parents in the surrounding area take so little interest in the school environment. With thier involvment, that school could be great!
My son's teacher was awesome! He has made great progress in his enthusiasm for learning due to the personal teaching style of one particular teacher. The ratio of monitors to children on the playground is not enough. This school in my opinion clearly does not belong to the students.
One of our children attended here throughout K-5, the other we moved after 3rd grade. We moved because the teacher options were not acceptable. Our years of experience here saw some excellent teachers, as well as some so-so teachers. Both of my children missed some basic math foundations in the early years.
This schools standards have drastically dropped since my child attended. When we started in kindergarten the class sizes were acceptable and the individual attention given to each student was great. Over the years with administration changes the quality of the school fell to the point where I pulled my child from the school. Discipline was non-existant. Teachers were forced to spend most of their day dealing with disruptions rather than teaching students. I addressed my concerns with the district supervisor and felt like my meeting fell on deaf ears. Nothing changed and that is when I decided not to re-enroll my child. If you are involved with your child's education continually check their progress at Wheeler. Chances are your child will not be challenged and encouraged to learn.
Both of my sons attended Wheeler. My oldest was, at that time, seriously hindered by his ADHD. It took one of his teachers there to recognize that his problem wasn't his ADHD, it was that he was bored to tears. This teacher took intimate interest in his achievements, and made sure that he had plenty of mental stimulation, as well as other outlets. I was in constant contact with all of my son's teachers at all times, and made to feel as though my involvement was of paramount importance. I would heartily reccomend this school to any parent of middle school children.
One of the problems of this school is that parent participation in most all school events/activities is non existent. Also, many of the teachers are overloaded by large classrooms and underfunding.
If you are a parent reading these reviews, please go and visit Wheeler for yourself. Most of these reviews are very one sided, and come from only one source. It's unfortunate that some people have to resort to posting negative comments that hurt everyone. Parents that have kept their students at Wheeler complain that enrollment is down, so let's do what's best for children, stop the negativity. Children need to see that we are all working together to achieve the same goal. I feel that Wheeler has a very caring atmosphere. Wheeler has an excellent staff dedicated to the success of all children. With all of the controversy surrounding education today, let's do what we can where we can. Starting at our home school, Wheeler.
I have 2 children at Wheeler. I am not at all happy with the leadership of this school. The prinipal is very unfriendly, she never has the best intrest of the school in mind. She only thinks of herself. she has been at the school for 3 years its time that the district moves her somewhere else.... She is even effecting the long time good teachers. Please think twice before placing your child in this school.
I am a parent of 3 children at wheeler . I thought we were a great school until we recieved a new principal this year. She is not experienced , friendly or a very good role model. I am looking for a private school for my kids now. Think twice!
Wheeler was a great school untill the addition of the current principal. Unfortunatly the principal has no social skills, nor experience and is most unprofesional. Her lack of caring for the children shows greatly. For safety & wellbeing she must be removed!
This school has a long way to go to get back on its feet after administration changes. Parents, teachers and administrators need to work together to help the children and forget about who is backstabbing who. Lets pull together Wheeler.
I have been involved with wheeler for 7 years up until this year we have been known as a great school. Parents are wonderful and we couldnt ask for better teachers they are very warm and caring. This year we got a new principal. she is inexperienced and not very friendly. Parents are hoping that she is removed and we can once again become a caring friendly school that we use to be.
The principal I feel does not care about the students or their safety.I think the teachers would be much better off without a principal at all then with the lack of leadership. Find a new Principal!
I would without a doubt not recommend anyone to Wheeler until we get rid of the principal. She thinks that our school belongs to her not the students, parents and teachers.
Teachers, kids, and parents are fantastic however cant say the same for our new principal. She is lacking in social skills, she is rude with both parents and kids.Wheeler was great till we got her.
