Harelson is a fabulous school! My daughter started Kindergarten this year,(all day) and she loves it. She gets to enjoy music, art, computer lab, phys ed, and many other things. She is starting to write in journals, as well as, enjoy doing more math and equations. She is also taking an after school spanish class once a week. All in all, I cannot say enough about the teachers, and the principal, who by the way is a 'hands on' man. When I mean 'hands on' a man who knows much about what is going on and is visible. You see him at the drop off at school, and the parent pick up car line after school. Fabulous school, if you have the option of open-enrolling your child at Harelson, I would say do so. Its worth it!

We have been very pleased with Harelson. There seems to be a constant energy and search for improvement by the principle, staff and parents. Parents are visibly involved in most aspects of the school. In a ecomony of cut-backs, Harelson still offers a diverse selection of activities and educational trips for the children.

Harelson Elementary School is an excellent elementary school. I have had children there since 1995. I think it is a wonderful, highly academic school with caring, fabulous teachers. There is a definite feeling of community with lots of parent volunteers.

About the tests

In 2012-2013 Arizona used the Arizona Instrument to Measure Standards (AIMS) to test students in reading and mathematics in grades 3 through 8 and 10, writing in grades 5, 6, 7, and 10, and in science in grades 4, 8 and 10. GreatSchools' profiles currently show AIMS mathematics, reading and writing results. 2013 AIMS grade 10 results represent on-track 10th graders for the 2013 test year. AIMS is a standards-based test, which means that it measures how well students have mastered Arizona learning standards. Students must pass the grade 10 AIMS in order to graduate. The goal is for all students to meet or exceed state standards on the test.
