The teachers and staff are all amazing and the entire community values the education system.

I love the teachers, the atmosphere, the values daily presented by this school! We've attended many schools (as a military family) and this one has been the best public school we've attended.

This school/district cares nothing for special needs children. They refuse to provide any help whatsoever. We have been fighting with this school for over 5 years to provide the education my son needs and finally gave up and moved him to a t.u.s.d. school which recognized his problems within a week a started an evaluation. Somthing we have been pleading Cottonwood/Vail school district to do for the past 6 years!

My daughter attends kindergarten at Cottonwood, and is absolutely thrilled every day to go to school. Due to some overcrowding (the area is growing rapidly), two of the kinder teachers are team-teaching, and making it a VERY positive experience. The kids love having 2 teachers, and more friends with whom they can interact during their day. Cottonwood has exceptional staff, teachers and support by parents. Slower learners are identified quickly and given extra help as needed. We are very sad to be moving!

Cottonwood is by far the best school that my children have attended. They have been to two other schools in the Tucson area, and we are most happy with Cottonwood. The teachers and support staff genuinely care about each individual student. I have noticed a tremendous jump in my children's math and reading levels. So far, my children have been in the Third and Fourth grade at Cottonwood. The teachers are definately top notch!

Two of my children attend Cottonwood, and I am thrilled with their education. They have art, PE, music, and writing classes - all of the things which usuall get cut when the budget is tight. The entire staff is dedicated to my children's success.

My daughter attends kindergarten here, and it has been a very positive experience for her. The school is very new and is surrounded by new homes. The teachers are very attentive and the class sizes are small. The Vail school district has a very good reputation, and is definitely preferable to the larger surrounding districts such as Tucson Unified. Many families in the community have one parent staying at home, so involvement is higher than average. The school has at least one afterschool family activity every week. I would definitely recommend this school, and I hope to find one that is comparable when we move.

Cottonwood is a great school. Community involvement is of the utmost importance. I couldn't have picked a better school for my child!

This is a new school, entirely gated, lots of outdoor play areas and equipment, good library and computer lab. Excellent special needs personnel and resources. There is a daily school-wide re-teach/enhancement program for core subjects, which keeps everyone going, and doesn't embarass the kids. The kids go to music class, art, P.E., computer lab, and reading class. In a good neighborhood and district. A lot of the parents work in the Air Force, at IBM, and Raytheon. The kindergarten and daycare teachers are nice.

I was very pleased with the kindergarden curriculum and the teacher my daughter had. There was a huge emphasis placed on reading and my daughter was reading very well by the end of kindergarden.

Cottonwood has a group of very involved parents. The teachers are dedicated and interested in fostering a learning environment. It is a very regimented school, yet extremely friendly.

This school is good as long as your child doesn't have a learning disability. They do not recognize certain disabilities and won't provide help. They should educate themselves on this so they can help the children instead of turning them away.

This is the best school ever. My children went here for a short time, but they carried the happiest memories ever. The whole school is wonderful, loving, caring. I could go on for day. If you want a great education for your children and a caring staff... send you children here. I wish ever state could have a school this wonderful. They are the best in my book!

About the tests

In 2011-2012 Arizona used the Arizona Instrument to Measure Standards (AIMS) to test students in reading and mathematics in grades 3 through 8 and 10, writing in grades 5, 6, 7, and 10, and in science in grades 4, 8 and 10. AIMS is a standards-based test, which means that it measures how well students have mastered Arizona learning standards. Students must pass the grade 10 AIMS in order to graduate. The goal is for all students to meet or exceed state standards on the test.
