I must say as a parent of a 4th grade girl and a 2nd grade boy that both attend La Paloma Academy Lakeside, I feel my students are safe and their awareness of bullies is very evident. I volunteer and the administration and teachers are consistently talking about their Olweus Bully Prevention Program. I encourage all parents to go and speak with administration or teachers about how they respond to bullying at La Paloma Academy. Thank you all for helping my two kids.
Children are often left unattended in critical areas of the school building. La paloma bully policy follows no clear cut model. Many children are victims of physical and psychological bullying at lakeside....and administration does nothing or very little to discipline noted bullies, or protect the victims being harassed daily. Until la paloma get get on the same page as the rest of the country on preventing and disciplining against school violence I would discourage any parent choosing la paloma for their special child/children. Thank you
I am a teacher at La Paloma and I really enjoy working here. The environment is so friendly and everyone really cares about their job and the students. I am always finding that the teachers here love to share their resources, not just withing grade level, but within all levels. We all want to see the others succeed and have the students succeed as well.
I really enjoy this La Paloma. My kids have been there for the last for years and I have really enjoyed working with Principal, teachers and staff. When I have a concern, the administration listens and responds quickly. I highly recommend this school!
School went down hill from 2003 to present. Kids not supervised properly. Teachers don't know where kids are.
I love my first grader's teacher!! I have heard that Ms Bryant may not be returning next year and that will be unfortunate for next year's first graders. She is caring and compassionate as well as an unbelievably hard worker. I see her there early and late (usually much later than the principal). I have appreciated her dedication and will be sorry if she leaves.
My children have attended LPA lakeside for 3 years. Other than a few issues that would occur at any school, the school is wonderful. The teachers do care about their students and their education. They always have time for questions, and respond to email's quickly. Teachers, staff, and the principle are always visible. My children have adequate homework and also a variety to keep them interested. The teachers take an active interest in my child's education as well as building rapport with us as parents. We take an active part in our children's education to ensure they are being educated. As parents we have to do our part as well. As with any school sometimes it's busy and understandable I may have to wait on a question or concern that I have. But I have always been treated with respect and courtesy on every occasion. I have nothing but high regards for the education (considering Arizona) that my children receive from La Paloma.
I enrolled my 1st grade student to this school and my experience with this school is somewhat good. I really like the fact that they give you a weekly agenda on what is going on with the school every week and his teacher gave him weekly updates also which I liked. I also like the fact that they had a free before and after school program. Its gets a lil crazy when we have to pick up our son because they call them over a walky talky and on 2 occasion for me it took 20min and finally I had to look for him myself. After 45 min I finally found him. Overall I don't think I will have my son attending this school or recommend any of my friends to this school.
As a parent, I'm happy to see my child enjoy going back to school. I really enjoy the teachers I have met so far and the new counselor.
Very good school. I am amazed at the sports programs and facilities. The school does a good job at keeping parents informed and involved.
My kids are doing so well there. My daughter was a little behind grade level and now she is reading far above her other classmates. The teachers really care.
Stay away from this school. We have attended for the past 4 years and have watched the school progressively get worse. Its a tale tell sign, when employees of the school have even pulled their children out and sent them elsewhere. Unfortunately La Paloma is all about numbers. If you care about your child proceed with caution.
They offer free before and after school care. Unfortunately, the kids are sitting in the morning and afternoon watching cartoons instead of doing homework or other projects. They only held 2 PTA meetings the entire year and the front lobby is a madhouse every morning with the older kids running all over the little ones and no control. The teachers are really nice and my daughter had homework every night in Kindergarten.
My kids love their teachers. The teachers are very respectful and caring. They do a great job managing the classroom. I would recommend this school.
I really liked La Paloma. My children attend and have a wonderful 2nd grade teacher and 4th grade teachers. I don't know much about the middle school, but the elementary school has wonderful teachers.
My daughter went to LPA Lakeside for two years. Her first year went well academically. When she hit middle school--that was another story all together! They had little to no discipline with the students. Teacher staffing was a total joke--with 7 math teachers in the second semester alone. The principal had a major lack of respect for the parents and students by not letting them know what was going on with each change. The school always looks dirty. Several staff members at the front desk were disrespectful to the students. The lunch was always cold and disgusting. No music but several after school sports. Overall, in desperate need of new leadership at admininistration level! Needless to say, she is no longer at this campus!
Great!!! They are very professional, and dedicated!!! I am happy to have my kids at a growing school with such potential. My kids are well cared for, well taught, and also exposed to an environment with respect and discipline.
My son attended this school this last year and is enrolled for the 2007-2008 school year. My overall experience with the school thus far has been great. His 3rd grade teacher was wonderful and I hear great things about his 4th grade teacher. I believe this school has improved with each passing year. I like the students and staff and predict a great future for La Palmoma Lakeside.
My daughters went to LPA for two years and I regret ever enrolling them there. They have no discipline for student or the staff. The school always looks dirty. The staff in the front desk were disrespectful to the students. The teachers didn't care what went on in the classroom. My daughter was an A student and very respectfull, but if they don't respect you then whats the point. We send our kids to school thinking they are getting the best education and being supervised. The lunch in the other hand, was always cold and disgusting.I thank God I took them out of that school, with the experiance we had I think i took to long in getting them out. I guess you don't want to believe that it could actually happen. Overall I give this school a big F.
I have never had such a bad experience at a school. We recently moved here and my child was a Gifted student with reading and math scores off the charts. I knew everything about his education and where he was excelling and where he needed help. Now, I get a piece of paper with 5 grades on it and no explainations as to where he is supposedly struggling. This school is making my child physically ill. He has never had such bad grades and missed so much school. I cant wait to get him out of there. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone!
