I have taught all ages from kindergarden to high school. In looking for the best school for my 3 children, nothing comes close to Waldorf Education. The teachers move up through the grades with their students, and know them almost as well as I do. The approach to education is based on the arts, music, academics (that are much more advanced than public school) and exploration and discovery. This is holistic education at it's finest. From knowing math concepts inside and out, to their understanding of ancient civilizations, and how humanity has progressed, to singing, playing instruments, studying 2 languages, the school plays; each child is honored for who they are and what they can do. 'Everyone is special,' as my daughter said to me. If you want your child to love learning, have confidentce and to be appreciated for who they are, Waldorf education is for you.

The Tucson Waldorf School is the best school in Tucson! I love the experience my child has there, the beautiful campus, the close-knit community, and commitment to holistic education. My daughter is thriving thanks to an innovative, arts-intensive curriculum and highly dedicated faculty. I also love the community that is created between families, faculty, and administration. I feel that we all work together to create a sweet community where our children can have a great education and develop a life-long love of learning. My child is learning and growing in so many ways, and I love to hear how excited she is about going to school. I love hearing from parents of Waldorf graduates about how their children are excelling in arts, science, math, writing, drama, social interactions, and, best of all, life. I feel so blessed to have found this best-kept secret for my child and family.

The Tucson Waldorf school has been my children's school from 1st grade onward and pre-kindergarten in one case. (They are now 7th, 3rd and 2nd grade). The Waldorf school provides for a highly integrated learning environment of academics, arts and movement. My attraction to the school has been the level of teacher involvement and interest in a student to the point where they often know my children better than I do. They are very focused on education that is developmentally appropriate. No pushing the child to high stress levels to meet things they are not ready for. A Waldorf child tends to be well rounded and to love learning...much more important than just knowing how to test. Of the graduating class of 8th graders, more than half were accepted to advanced programs at local schools. The Waldorf method produces balanced and grounded children. The emphasis on no TV is key.

At Tucson Waldorf School, our dedicated, caring faculty provides an education that allows the unique gifts and capacities of each child to unfold, in all spheres of endeavor. At the same time, we work hard to build a sense of cooperative community among diverse individuals--not only for the students, but for parents, faculty and staff. Meeting the challenges of the 21st century requires the ability to work creatively and compassionately. The multi-talented students who graduate from our school are well equipped to thrive in whatever direction life will take them.

My child started off the year slow, but quickly caught on and is doing well in math and reading. I did not think we would have improved my child's skills so quickly. The teachers 'let's go, you can do it' attitude has really paid off. The school has met and exceeded my expectations. We moved from out of state and they have been warm and welcoming. There is a true community feeling here. The school is growing and there is room here for parents that want their children to get more from education than just meeting state standards. My child is involved in after school activities, musical theater and strings orchestra. This is in addition to the daily taught flute, vocal, art, physical education, German and Spanish. This is a complex curriculum that speaks to the whole child.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
