You are invited to join San Xavier Mission School! San Xavier Mission School is a private Catholic school located on the Tohono O odham Indian Reservation. We offer all basic academic classes, as well as, classes in Religion and sacramental preparation, Art, PE, Computers, and Tohono O odham language. We are a K-8 school. Our class sizes are small. We average about 16 in a class. K-1 enrolls 20 students and 2-8 enrolls 22 students. Parents/Guardians are encouraged to be involved. Each family has 50 hours of volunteering each year. The volunteering can be done at special events (bake sales, dinners, carnival, etc.) or in the school (classrooms, office, library, lunch monitor, etc.) Presently enrolled students or siblings of current students are registered first and new families fill in the open slots or are put on a waiting list if the class is full. Our tuition and actual cost per student is $5,300.00 a year. The majority of the tuition is paid through grants and scholarships. The Catholic Tuition Support Organization (CTSO) through the Diocese of Tucson is very important in helping the school maintain an affordable tuition for the families. Parents/Guardians are encouraged to send their Arizona tax money to CTSO in San Xavier Mission School s name. If you would like a tour or you have any other questions, please contact Shirley Kalinowski, Principal. We are now registering students for the 2014-2015 school year. Sincerely, Shirley Kalinowski Principal, San Xavier Mission School

San Xavier Mission School is a community oriented school with friendly and helpful staff. They welcome parents and people from the community to participate in their activities. They keep their students engaged with school work and with community service. San Xavier Mission school has a safe environment and is pretty good at knowing which students ride the bus, walk and get picked up.
San Xavier Mission School has a strong level of commitment to education. The principal is very understanding and works hard for the health and success of each student. The teachers and support staff are intelligent and hard working. The school has a great deal of moral support from the sisters, brothers and priests of St. Francis and well as good parent support this year I would highly recommend this school if you are looking for a wholesome education for your child.
No matter where you enroll your child into school, it's up to you as a parent to get involved with your child's school, to show your interested in what they do. It will matter to them in the long run!! San Xavier Mission School is life a family, you get to know one another as parent and get introduce by your child to their new found friends and you end up being friends for life and sometimes until you leave the school. Regardless you remember each other and are able to ask 'how are you doing' and 'how's your child doing', etc. You are no longer strangers......
I've been with San Xavier for more than nine years and my oldest children graduated from there and was accepted to San Miguel High School, which is also a catholic school with great academics. I strongly encourage a child to be enrolled at SX Mission school. You received the individual attention on your child's needs and learn better. My youngest has problem with reading and was observed and found out, she needed glass. Little things like this makes a big difference because the teachers are willing to remedy the problem to help the child. He or she is never left behind!! As for the parent involvment, it's true there's not a lot of particpation, but it's up to each parent to decide how they would like to be there for their child (i.e taking part, socializing with other parents, take interest), so the child will know you care. Over-all it's an excellant school!
