In the Tucson Unified School District (TUSD), students can attend any school (called intradistrict choice), as long as there is space. They may also attend magnet schools and specialized programs that focus on such subjects as business, fine arts, technology and International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum.
Under the federal No Child Left Behind law, students attending a Title I school designated as “in need of improvement” have the right to attend a higher-performing school in the district.
In Arizona your child can attend any school in the district (called intradistrict choice) or outside the district (called interdistrict choice). Students can also attend charter schools. Specific groups, such as special education students and foster children, are eligible to receive vouchers to attend private schools.
