Your son sounds alot like me. Unfortunately, I never knew I was a visual -spacial learner and suffered needlessly b/c I thought there was something wrong with me. My math scores were low and my reading and writing skills were always very high.So was my art skills. I always loved the arts and acting too. Finding out recently that I have this has helped alot! I am now double majoring in college in english and theatre. Teachers also thought I had an attitude problem when it came to learning. I was just explaining to them in my own way how I thought. For example, one teacher recommended in college once to major or minor in art. My response was,"I don't need anyone to teach me that, I already know how to draw." The step by step process of learning art from the beginning would have exhausted me. The whole idea of drawing comes to me all at once. Definately get your son someone that works with gifted learning disabled kids. I wish I had someone like that! Good luck.

Can you please list any resources you've found in Tucson.
My son just started elementary school and has the same issue. He is currently going to a public school but I need to find a school or someone that can help him learn the way he needs to.

Hi my family and I are moving to Tucson in the summer. We would like to try a charter school. We don't know the area. I want to enrol them in a school where their needs will be met. In a school environment where there is individualised instruction. We want to move to a good school district, so we are researching school first then looking for a good community to live.

Hi, I don't know if you're still looking for a tutor that specializes in learning disabilities in Tucson.

I HIGHLY recommend Rachel's Tutoring Service. I'm pretty sure they're the only LD tutors in town - they've been working with my high school aged son for 3 years now and I'm extremely pleased with how good Rachel and her staff are.
