My children attend McGraw elementry and I could not be happier with their progress. They are learning in a wholesome, caring, & encouraging school, and I thank them for that.

My children attended C.W. McGraw Elementary School during their primary years. The dedicated, knowledgeable teachers provided them with the foundation necessary to succeed at an honors high school. The welcoming atmosphere, students' sense of purpose, school-wide communication and collaboration among parents, students, teachers, and principal create an environment for educational success.

With so many students being in the low performing category, students who are at or above grade level are not being challenged enough or ignored. Supervision is not adequate on the playground, during lunch or when students are completing makeup work in the classroom. My son has been the victim of several incidences with boys who tease and bully him daily. The principal and teachers do not take bullying as a serious issue, thus putting students in a greater risk category.

The teachers at McGraw are very dedicated to helping the children reach their full potential.

Teachers at McGraw do the best they can with the little resources made available to them. It's hard to ask anymore of them. The School District must provide more materials, and less students per class for teachers to really excel.

About the tests

In 2013-2014 Arizona used the Arizona Instrument to Measure Standards (AIMS) to test students in reading and mathematics in grades 3 through 8 and 10, writing in grades 5, 6, 7, and 10, and in science in grades 4, 8 and 10. GreatSchools' profiles currently show AIMS mathematics, reading and writing results. 2013 AIMS grade 10 results represent on-track 10th graders for the 2013 test year. AIMS is a standards-based test, which means that it measures how well students have mastered Arizona learning standards. Students must pass the grade 10 AIMS in order to graduate. The goal is for all students to meet or exceed state standards on the test.
