After being in this school for 1 year it is probably the worst school I have ever encountered. There are some good teachers here, I'll give them that, but they also have some pretty horrible teachers. When I say horrible, I mean I had to teach myself and make my own notes for their classes because they refused to stop trying to discipline everyone during the entire class time. Even when we brought of valid points (which was all my class brought up) they would just argue with the class and not get anything done. One teacher (will not be mentioned) was baffled that all his classes (almost every single student he taught) failed a test, so he thought the best way to solve this was to go through almost a month of "remediation" on the subject only to succeed in getting the kids up to a B on the re-test. We go through this possess on almost every single subject we are "taught". The teachers who are teaching on the other hand, are teaching very well, but the standard in which they are teaching us to is extremely low, even in the advance classes. Over all I wouldn't send any kid here if I had the choice.

They are quick to suspend without valid reasons and they need serious improvements in their administration. They ignore students that are bullied and do nothing to help the situation. They could try to acknowledge that bullying is a serious issue going on in their school and classes where only the victim gets in trouble for defending themselves. Hanging banners doesn't fix the situation. Great job Crane Middle School administration, great job.

I love the communication I have with the teachers. They email me right away if there is an issue that needs to be addressed. Great teachers! I can not say enough wonderful things about all the teachers there. My only complaint is with the administrators of the school. They are not at all helpful in resolving any issues that come up and they are not accessible. Everything is very black & white with no leniancy even if it means sacrificing your childs education. This is a HUGE negative for the school. The principal did not care about my child at all & did nothing to even attempt to resolve the issues I went to her with.

Crane is an amazing school. For those who posted bad reviews, it's not the school's fault that no one liked you. My teachers supported me throughout everything I did. They were easy going and friendly and awesome. They cared about how I was doing in school. We went on an awesome field trip. I'm now in high school, and you know what I miss more than anything? That I could travel back in time to when I was at Crane and relive all those amazing memories all over again.

Worst school i've ever been to, teachers are only concerned about grades, nothing else. They are to focused on the method of teaching then actually teaching. If you come here as a new student they will not help you, they will just tell you to figure it out. I have never felt so out of place in a school in my life, this school is terrible and i hope no one else has to come here.

Being a former student of the Honor classes in Crane Middle School I believe they still at standard level. I moved to a new school and found out i was in Honors Geometry for 8th grade. In Crane Middle School their Honors for 8th graders is only Algebra which at my new school is standard for 8th graders. I suggest that this school improves their curriculum but overall their goal is to have students exceed AIMS.

My daughter attended Crane and was SOOO prepared for the honors track at the local high school. The teachers really cared about her. The principal was friendly and wanted the best for my daughter. Every student seemed to be the most important concern to her. I'd HIGHLY recommend this school as the best middle school in Yuma.

As a former student, this school represents one of the most traumatic experiences of my childhood. The level of bullying and racial intolerance among the students and faculty has negatively affected me to this day.

So far, our experience at Crane Middle School is wildly unimpressive. My daughter started out with the wrong schedule of classes, and it took them a WEEK to get it straightened out. While we were waiting for the schedule change, she got reprimands from teachers because we wouldn't purchase P.E. clothes, even though she wasn't supposed to be in P.E. They changed her locker on her in the middle of the first week, and just pretty much did everything they could do to make a 7th grader's transition that much harder. Apparently, the very strict dress code only applies to little white girls as well--the Hispanic girls all are allowed to dress like gang girls. My overall impression is that they expect lots of flexibility and adapting from parents and students, and none at all from the staff or faculty.

I go to Crane Middle School im an eighth grader. I do agree with other opinions that it is a good, inviting enviroment but like other schools there is some flaws. For example dress code is very strict and some of us dont agree with it. For example i had problems with how many buttons i had on my shirt though i wasnt wearing it in a provacitive or inappropriate way. Even though it does have it flaws Crane is a very good inviroment to learn in so if you are thinking about sending your child there or if you are a teen thinking about going there please check it out they have fun activities and very nice teachers.

Crane Middle School is focused on teaching the Arizona Standards and performance objectives. While elective programs are limited, there is a nice selection of basics for students. Parent involvement is an area the school is trying to refine and recruiting of parents to participate in all levels of involvement is a high priority.

I am impressed that my son is taking both literature and English but his math homework seems rather elementary

Crane middle school is a wonderful school. The teachers within the school create a fun, creative as well as tough and critical thinking type of atmosphere with in there class rooms. They help the students to think beyond there normal habits so they can learn and retain more. While all the teachers fall into this category there have been a few known to hold grudges. There are numerous extra ciricular and intermural activities for all students and their interests. The administration is very straightfoward and strict with there students. At the same time they can be oblivious to problems going on with in the school. They can be consistant with the gum chewer getting detention but have no clue that he has been also getting bullied, pushed, harrassed in even punched during schools. This was mostly due to keeping the silence to avoid less conflict. Good school, few bad seeds.

About the tests

In 2011-2012 Arizona used the Arizona Instrument to Measure Standards (AIMS) to test students in reading and mathematics in grades 3 through 8 and 10, writing in grades 5, 6, 7, and 10, and in science in grades 4, 8 and 10. AIMS is a standards-based test, which means that it measures how well students have mastered Arizona learning standards. Students must pass the grade 10 AIMS in order to graduate. The goal is for all students to meet or exceed state standards on the test.
