I have 2 children enrolled in Southwestern Christian School, I feel blessed that we are able to give our children the very best. I would not consided another school. Any school that your children attend can have difficult moments, the true test is how they are addressed. SWCS principle and staff have proven to me why this school is where my children and my family belong.
My daughter has attended SWCS since kindergarten, and she will be in sixth grade soon. I cannot imagine sending her anywhere else. She not only receives a great education at SWCS but her love toward the Lord grows stronger each week, which is due to the dedicated Christian educators employed at the school.
As a former public and private school educator and the parent of three children, I give Southwestern Christian School my highest endorsement. The curriculum is challenging, the teachers are top-notch and the administration and staff are actively engaged with our children every day. The class sizes can't be beat, ensuring that my children have sufficient one-on-one time with their teachers. The general atmosphere of the school is one of support and family. The facility is new, clean and well-equipped. The teachers care as much about the children as individuals as they do about the academic portion of their development. Equally important as the challenging academic program, Southwestern is committed to the spiritual growth of its students. Making Jesus Christ a daily, vital part of our children's lives, is an essential focus of the school, through study of the Bible, verse memorization, conflict resolution and daily prayer. For Christian parents who are looking for regulated class sizes, excellent teachers, strong curriculum and a Christian focus, this school is worth every penny you'll invest. Stop by for a tour during school hours to see it in action!
THE IS ONE OFTHE BEST SCHOOLS IN ALL OF ARIZONA. I HAVE ALREADY RAISED TWO CHILDREN AND HAVE A DAUGHTER NOW AT SWCS FOR 3 YEARS SHE HAS ATTENDED. I ONLY WISH MY TWO OTHER CHILDREN HAD THE OPPORTUNITY THAT MY YOUNGER DAUGHTER HAS NOW ATTENDING A CHRISTIAN SCHOOL. WE ARE BLESSED WITH HAVING SWCS HERE IN YUMA ARIZONA. I KNOW SHE WILL BE SUCCESSFUL IN ANY HIGH SCHOOL SHE ATTENDS AFTER SWCS. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS SCHOOL TO ANYONE
SWCS is a phenomenal school with a challenging curriculum, and teachers who are dedicated to God and the students..We have seen a spiritual growth in our 2nd grade daughter since attending SWCS..We love it and highly recommend it!!
Pg. 3 Lastly, they spent so much attention on rules and the dresscode that my child had any room to breathe. They became an amazing student. When they moved onto highschool, they had all A's, rarely B's. I'd have to say that my score is 2 stars because of such an amazing education system provided at Southwestern Christian School. Otherwise, it would be a one.
Teachers are excellent and genuinely care for the children in their care. From personal experience there was a lack of encouragement of positive relationships at the individual level, (too tolerant of 'clique' behavior ... perhaps my expectatinos were higher of a Christian school to encourage more openness and caring toward fellow students based on my own personal experience in true ministry settings). I would prefer decreased focus on the exterior stitching of individual students' pants pockets and whether belts are present in favor of greater emphasis on identifying and developing personal spiritual gifts and strenthening positive relationships. School lacks a mission focus (website cites SWCS is a 'mission' of the host church). I see much potential but feel the school remains lacking in the area of spritual vision and inspiration. Overall it is a safe school to send your children to and can be recommended as such.
SWCS has been everything I could want in a school. They have challenged my daughter and she has responded. Freinds of ours with children in public schools are amazed at her ability to read and comprehend so well for a 1st grader. Her cursive is better than mine! She has also benefited spiritually and socially. By far the best school in Yuma.
My children have been in this school for 2 years. I have had them in 3 other Christian schools in different parts of the country. This administration and faculty have their act together. Communication between parents, and faculty/staff is great. The only way you would not have a personal lrelationship with the leadership (se comment from May 28, 2007) is that they haven't tried. The staff and administration are all very friendly and approachable. The teachers my kids have had give us their home phones, and encourage me to call if I have a question, etc. The principal, Mrs. Stewart, is the hardest working, most involved principal I've ever known. She just doesn't sit behind a desk and delgate. She is involved! I don't believe all the parental involvement is geared to those that don't work outside the home. Certain things are done during the school day (field trips, etc.).
The facility is very nice. I have found the staff to be caring, and competent. They like working there! The administration is great with communication, and discipline. They back up the rules listed in the student handbook (unlike other Christian schools my children have been in). The academic curriculum is excellent (ABeka). There are extracurricular activities for girls and boys. The school & facility continue to grow and improve. There is a PTO, and parents are encouraged to volunteer in the school. We've been very happy with SWCS. My children have been in 3 other Christian schools around the U.S. (military family), and this school is my favorite.
