RE Baker prepares students for the next step (middle school) and provides many unique experiences in the Bentonville Community and beyond. So many of the teachers have been teaching at RE Baker for years. This says a lot about the school and about the teachers. Teachers go above and beyond to organize amazing teaching experiences and are accessible to parents, actually welcoming them into the learning community and classroom! The administration is responsive to parental concerns and pulls the school team together to solve problems. We are thrilled to be part of the RE Baker community.
Baker is a great school. I'm disappointed to see some of these comments regarding the administration. My child was not there under the previous principal, but I understood him to be popular with students and parents. But popularity with the PTO moms is not what is important to my family.Because of its location in central Bentonville and not near the country clubs of Rogers, REB serves a large population of low income students. More than Elm Tree or Central Park (the only elementary schools with a higher rating.) Baker is accountable for these students performance compared to other students (other schools don't have this requirement.) Dr. Kelly was brought in because the school was on "alert" with the state DOE for the performance of these students compared to the rest of the REB students. She and her staff have worked hard to turn this around. My family applauds Dr. Kelly's leadership. I see her in front of the school every morning helping students out of vehicles and welcoming to their school, engaging with students. It's sad that women are critical of Dr. Kelly because she is attractive and accomplished. I'll take achievement and results over popularity with the moms any day.
We love, love, love our school RE Baker! The teachers are amazing! However, the administration is cold and unsupportive unless you are extremely wealthy. My child was having issues in reading but the principal refused to help because she was trying to get the scores up of the ESL and free & reduced lunch students because those scores made her look better. While I definitely support all children getting the help needed, I felt like my child was marginalized because her success did not help the principal get promoted. My daughter still doesn't know the principal's name after 2 years. That says it all! I would still recommend it because of the great teachers!
I was so scared about my oldest staring kindergarten. I have four boys, three of which will all be in this school at the same time. So he was basically testing the waters, so to speak. We are about finished with our first year and so far so good. My next oldest will be starting kindergarten on August first and my oldest in first grade!! This school is amazingly involved with the community. They are not only teaching our children GREAT values they are displaying them as well. I h e always had all of my questions answered and my son is so very happy!! They take the kids to see plays suited to their age and encourage the parents to be involved as much as their hearts desire!! I am one to ask questions concerning anything that I may be concerned about, these are the only children I have and they will only be young once. Education is important to me; a proper and moral, Christian environment where mine and your children are put first is a great feeling. BELIEVE ME, if something goes wrong, we will change schools and you will be the first to know!! :) As of now, I highly reccomend RE Baker Elementary!!
I pray for the other parents whose children with special needs attend this school. I really wanted to like RE Baker. I wanted to believe them when they told me all the things they would do to help my special needs child. It has all been lip service. The principal does not seem interested, the new assistant principal speaks down to parents. I dont think the principal and new assistant principal want to even deal with special needs children because that is extra work. I do like my childs special needs teacher but I think she is overworked and understaffed. A big disappointment to me. I am looking for a school where the staff understands and tries to help those with special needs rather than belittle them. My child needs help and an education
The administration did change the initial feeling of the school, however, the teachers go ABOVE AND BEYOND to make learning fun, engaging and relavent! This is our 8th year with kids at this school and love it. The year round calendar is a bonus, too!
I loved this school last year but this year its gone downhill! The new principal is not as engaging as the previous principal who we all loved. I felt awful when I heard he was leaving but thought it would be fine ,boy was i wrong. Just by being a pretty face and looking at your nails does not make a good principal! I feel sad I have to write this but its the truth. Terrible shame for our kids.
This school was awesome LAST YEAR! The new administration at the school is very poor. The principal has not made effort to know the kids. The previous principal was above the top awesome, and she could never fill his shoes, but she doesn't even come close. My kids used to LOVE going to school, now they hate it. I'm so sad that the district felt they needed to do this.
They do an amazing jobs of putting kids first; they make learning fun with special events, field trips, and just take a real interest in nurturing children to be proud citizens.
Because they are amazing with kids. Our teachers are the best!!! They truly care for your kids and help them get where they need to be for the next grade!
RE Baker is exceptional from the warmth and friendliness of the administration and staff, to the excitement they give the kids in their learning.
The teachers and staff are great. My daughter loves it there and her younger sister will be starting there this fall! Mr. Young is very involved with the children and keeps the morale up.
I spent two years with the amazing students, staff, and families at Baker. It is an outstanding school. Academics are exceptional yet there is a true family feel at Baker.
I LOVE R.E. Baker! My child is receiving an excellent education in the basics - math, reading, science and social studies. What impresses and pleases me the most about Baker is the way they instill awareness in the kids about treating all people with respect, taking responsibility for the planet and making positive choices. When my child and I go on walks, she collects the litter others have left behind not because I tell her to, but because of the lessons she has learned at Baker. Great Job!
This is an excellent school with great academics as well as teaching the students how to be good citizens.
Wonderful school ~ teachers, parents, and administration all work together for a positive productive environment. The students are highly engaged in the local community and authentic learning.
Baker is always 'what's best for kids' how does it get any better than that. I've been in other schools, but this one is the best!
