I have a two children attending Cedarville. One is in special education. Both have gone to the school their entire school years. I also graduated from Cedarville. I find the teachers and staff exceptional!!!! I wish we had more money in our district to pay some of these teachers who care so much.
Great atmoshere friendly and the school is clean the teachers seem to care about your childs welfare
Very disapointed. Lots of drug use. Not structured. Kids roam halls. Children are not properly discipled according to the offense. Not stiff enough policy of drugs.
Cedarville is an amazing school. The teachers care and so do the students. If just enough of the parents cared as well, the school would be so better.
I am horrified at what some of these reviews say! Cedarville is an excellent school, I do not even live in this district anymore, however when my son starts kindergarten I will be sending him to Cedarville. They have a wonderful high school principal and great teachers. I called on my high shcool english teacher for advice while I was attending college. I had my ups and downs as a teenager (just as anyone does), but overall I loved attending Cedarville and would recommend it to everyone!
I'm not real happy at this time with quality of education my child is recieving I'm considering changing her to Van Buren or possibly a private school. It is sad when the school district you live in has this effect on the education of my child and I have to relocate my child so I can fell good about my childs future. The real world is tough & with the education from this school my child would not be ready. That makes my job as a parent twice as hard. I'm just glad I know I'm doing my part... & so should you... Befor we let another family down... as far as sports my child was in sports but once again I was diapointed in the quality of that as well.
I went to this school all my life it has its faults like being way to involved in sports and not involved enough in education, but overall it is a good school with some great teachers who care about these kids. And some who don't care at all. I think thats how it is at any school. Our parents need to be more involved in what goes on in the school and then some of this would probably change. We as parents can make a difference if we try. My daughter goes to Cedarville and I feel that she will receive a good education because I as her mother will make sure the teacher is doing there job and I as her parent am doing mine by being sure she is at school daily and her homework is done. Cedarville is not so Bad. I think I turned out Ok.
I would have to say from having gone to Cedarville, it was not a very memorable experience. Sports is too big deal, and places Education in second. I speak from personal experience. Also, there is no such thing as 'innocent until proven guilty' unless you were favored by some other teacher. Yes, faculity do pick their favorites. However I will say that the FFA is excellent, the Agri classes were very well taught. The English Department is superb, while unfortunately the Mathematics is rather lacking. As for the technology, such as E.A.S.T., it has fallen from an awesome learning environment to strictly learning the prgrams and winning. In conclusion, the school is heavily influenced with religion, and often times will ignore the Seperation of Church and State issue. The School Board is primarily to blame, wanting Harry Potter off the shelves as well as any other 'religious questionable material'.
As a former student of Cedarville High School, I do have to say that Cedarville has its problems. I went to the school from K-12 and as I got futher into school and got more into to sports and I noticed that if you didn't have money or have the right name then you was looked over. Cedarville School is a good school in its own little way, testing is one of the great things. My husband is from Alma and I am from Cedarville and our test scores are higher then theirs is but with a big school like Alma you have more colleges looking at you so if you are all about sports then go with a big school. If you are wanting a one on one with teachers-students then go with Cedarville.
Cedarville is a good school. I consider it an honor to have teachers that would drive half an hour out of their way just to pick up a student for school, or arrive an hour before school to tutor a former student needing help with college subjects. Students that didn't have the priviledge of growing under Olin Stewart, Jim Hilton, and Mr. Gottlieb truly don't know what they missed. I can say from first hand experience that the teachers do care. Compared to area schools, the test scores are higher and the student to teacher ratio is much better, so how can the larger schools be that much better? I know former students who are pharmacists, engineers, and mathmaticians. Can Cedarville's education be that bad?
Cedarville has its ups and downs. The school spends WAY TOO MUCH money on sports equipment, it needs to focus on more EDUCATION supplies instead of sports. The coaches don't deserve to be teachers in the classroom. On the other hand, the teachers who are actullay serious about the student's education does an excellent job!
I do not agree at all with either of the previous postings. I have in one way or another been connected with Cedarville or Cedarville Schools for the past 28 years of my life. When my daughter was old enough to start school I immediately knew that I wanted to send her to Cedarville and we don't even live in the school district, but did fill out a school choice form. I believe the level of education is higher than some of the bigger school districts in the area. I would encourage everyone to send their child to Cedarville. I am very fortunate to have the opportunity of choice.
Ok..this is coming from someone who has actually experienced the horror of this terrible, shallow minded and highly religious school for 11 years. I must agree with the parent who posted before, the school isnt all that great, the teachers and the staff dont really care about the kids, as long as they get a pay check and an easy job, dont get me wrong, there are a few good teachers I've had from K - 11th grade but, a few for 11 years isnt much to count for, and the way they let other kids pick on and discriminate on other kids, and then say they will do something about it, then say nothing, is pretty messed up if you ask me. Anyway, these are my thoughts on this school, I would advise noone to send there child there, I had no choice, I lived in the school district.
I think over all my education at this school would have been alot better if a more liberal approach would have been taken in teaching and maintaining of everyday life for students. The school board of Cedarville Schools is not made up with members who are there for the betterment of the students education. There are many well qualified teachers in this school who are denied to test the knowledge of students due to closeminded and overly religious views.
