School district does NOT intellectually stimulate students. The teachers only "teach" so that students will pass any state or federal required examinations, they do NOT teach students to legitimately learn. Also, due to the extremely small sizes of class---which could be anywhere from 4 students to barely 10) most teachers let the students run the classroom. The students themselves are lazy and do not have a desire to learn. I am speaking from PAST EXPERIENCE which was very recent. I was in fact a student. However, at Gillett, 99% of these students are not brilliant and do not go "above & beyond." They students regularly make up the "laypeople" of the United States. They are not the ones who do extraordinary things, that accomplish a vast amount, or make a legitimate difference. As a recent Gillett alumni, I hate to speak about the school this way, but it in fact very accurate. As a student, I was not pushed to learn. I believe that any great school should push ALL students to learn far past average students; this is a huge flaw. The staff itself is not exceptional. They do not keep up on current material and "update" their learning style & they are way behind in the modern era.

I think that gillett school system is the best my child as more fun and wants to learn about everything he is a straight A student and has been since coming here he is in the 7th grade this year and now they want to close this school and bus them to dewitt and the kids are looking at a total 4 hours on a bus mine will have to get on at 5:30-6am and wont get home until 5:30-6pm this leaves him no time to rest or do homework i think that the state has gone to far with this bull

I attended Gillett High School and loved every second. If I needed help there was always a teacher there or I could call them at home for help after school. The school was small and the student body was a family. The worst thing that could have happened to the school and the community was the consolidation with Dewitt. They should now just shut the doors and bus everyone to Dewitt. Both schools should start over now with a new name, mascot, and colors, so everyone fills welcome and a part of a new beginning.

Oops! We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Public and charter school test scores for most states come from the state Department of Education. The most common reasons we might not have this data are either that not enough students took the test or that the school was recently opened, and its scores have not yet been reported.

Oops! We currently do not have any student information for this school. We rely on the state Department of Education, the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), and in some cases school administrators such as registrars and principals for this data.
